Hell, if I were the Coors lawyer I'll sue the mom for being a ditz and raising such a dumbass kid. Let me see, she didn't teach her son about drinking responsibly, and then she lets him get into a situation where he ends up driving drunk. It's an unneeded death to be sure, but somehow I have no real sympathy for either one of them.

The Law & Order episode with the submachine gun wielding student's actions being the problem of the gun manufacturer instead of the person that caused the crimes springs to mind.

At least Congress has said that they're brining in a writ to ban such claim culture actions being used in court.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they have a legal duty to not advertise to minors. Of course, this is absurd, because the target of most beer commercials is this little thing called the "18-24 demographic"; half of which is ... well, under 21.

I don't care that Coors is advertising for the 18-24 male demographic. 18 should be the legal drinking age anyway, not to mention that anyone who wants to drink is already drinking usually by age 16.

And before you call me an alcohol apologist, let me tell you that last night my roommate stumbled and went to sleep at 3AM, and around 5AM woke up and proceeded to take a long piss on the carpet. I don't like the drink, and I don't like what it does to people.

Fucking bitch. She also sued the girlfriend's MOM, apparently because the mom gave the girlfriend the car in which her son killed himself.

She needs to go to hell. It's her son's own damn fault he got drunk and got himself killed. She should be paying THEM for raising such a fucking stupid kid in the first place, and for wrecking their car and probably their lives.

I think it was last year around Spring Break time when there were several articles about American alcohol companies advertising like crazy in Mexico whereever American students gathered in large numbers. Basically the idea is to get people to associate themselves with a brand (ie "branding"). There was a bit stink about them targeting people who weren't of legal age in the US even though they were in Mexico at the time (basically a bunch of parents were whining even though they let their kids go to Mexico). So people were trying to pressure the companies and some were even hinting at trying to get Mexico involved in enforcing American drinking ages on Americas even when on the Mexican side of the border.

It's funny that you mention the target demographic of beer commercials. I don't know how many times I tried beer because of those commercials plus tv and movies made it look like beer was it. Drinking beer was supposed to be fun, thirst quenching and lots of hot babes liked it.

The guy was 19 years old and here in Canada thats legal age. It was his own damn fault. Had he been 16 or something I could understand, but at 19 he is more than mature enough to realize what he is doing and know the consequences and risks of drinking and driving.

I mentioned Canada because thats where I live and thus from MY perspective, it was his own damn fault. Its not like he was any less mature or smart enough to realize what he was doing than a 19 year old Canadian would have been. Sure ink on page says he was underage, common sense says he was not.

This is a prime example of the 'someone-else' generation. A generation, not born but made, bred to think that it is impossible for them to be mistaken or outright wrong...no, it is someone else's fault.

At some point it simply is the fault of the person driving drunk, not the beer he drank, nor his girlfreind, nor the company that made the (perfectly safe and legal, within reason) drink.

I'm not upset by the fact that he was drinking underage, what pisses me off is that the dumb fuck was probably piss drunk when got into the car and crashed it into a light pole going well over the speed limit. If he lived he coulda been whacked with speeding, careless driving, DUI, driving without a valid license, and reckless endangerment among other charges.

But he died and somehow the dumb bitch mother can sue. Hell, the GF's family should be suing the stupid jackass's mother since her son wrote off their car and likely put the GF in the hospital.
