Death to Desan!

Post by Knife »

So, I just ran through JKII again, and this is the first time that I beat Desan by collapsing a pillar on him    .

Hell, to be honest, I was trying to collapse the pillar on him but I think he actually got that last bit himself and thus killed himself but........

Hell, I didn't even know it was possible until I read it somewhere not too long ago.

Is this comonly known?

I didn't know about it. I didn't even know about the empowerment thing when I beat him. I had to fight him the old fashion way, and it was hard as hell.

Dessan was tough, but somehow Admiral Fyaar in his shielded powersuit seemed tougher :?. Probably this has something to do with the layout of their respective "Boss Arenas".

Yes. Well, I would think so at any rate. But I prefer just killing him straight, no charging up invincibility, just jump, push, and slice. I got him like that three times already, in under 4 seconds, with the red style overhead swing leap thingy.

Drop a pillar on him? You can do that?

I usually do my Force Speed + Blue Stance flurry on him until he drops. There's something charming about slashing faster than even Desann is able to block.

Drop a pillar?
Do you mean the rocks on the bottom a few of them can be manipulated i think.

The pillars along the floor are destructible. Take out the base and they will topple over.

No, there is four pillars on each corner of the lower level. Appearently, you can damage each one to the point where it collapses. I read about knocking a pillar over so went to give it a try.

I finally did it with the very last one.

I almost always go for the Force Speed+strong attack combo, nails the sucker every time.

I've only gotten him once with out using speed, and it took me ten minutes to do it.

And it's Desaan.

That's the "cool way" to kill him, but most of us just turned on Speed + Fast Stance and just cut him up in a few tries if not the first.

He's not that tough once you know how to beat him (but still fun to re-load and try other methods).

With realistic saber damage the battle is more interesting since you can kill him easier, but so he can to you. Still, the speed method works wonders. It's almost cheap feeling since most of the duels in the game can be won that way.

It was annoying since i'd been using force speed all through the game to kick in the Sith, but when i got to him it didn't work so i ended up dropping a pillar on him

Desann is easy to kill as long as you keep your hand on shift (i.e. walk) while fighting him. He seems to be tailored to beat the crazy runner type Jedi.

How did it not work? You just wait till he jumps toward you, use Force Speed, and then get behind the spot where he is going to land.

That's how I kicked his ass. I kept jumping into the force pool and trying to hack his ass down, but I really got no where. I think I did manage to kill him that way. Something happened when I first got to the end and and I saw the pillars take damage. I usually Force Lightning'd and hacked away at one and Desann would usually get it the rest of the way.

Force beam, really. You push the two wall buttons on the upper deck and a beam comes out of the tower thingy in the lower middle. It makes you invincible for about 20 or so seconds.

I seem to recall jumping off the ledge you start on with a full frontal force lightning, then getting into force speed and red stance, he lasted all of 30 seconds... can't remember what difficulty that setting was on though...

Yeah I knew about that, only I the rental was due back the next day and I wanted to get through the story so I turned on god mode for a couple of parts(don't remember which though, I did the swamps and the temple legit), and the pillar fell on me. But cause of god mode it trapped me. That was annoying.

I actually tried positioning Desann under the pillar and launching a rocket at it to take him down. Unfortunately, that didn't work.

I use the fast style in all my duels. Point-blank Force Push, followed by an overhead chop and an uppercut. It instantly kills pretty much any non-boss character.

The backstab is fun, too. Does that work on Desann, though?
