Fun on I-95/I-495 this afternoon...
I'm zooming down I-495/I-95 (the beltway) away from my job at 2:40 PM
towards home, and I'm doing 85 to 90 M.P.H, the lane in front of me
is nice and open, and I've got a nice groove going on, when I see two cop
cars pull up behind me......I'm going OH FUCK FUCK heart's beating fast,
and I slooowly decelerate to 65~ and the cops simply pull around me
accelerating past 75~ as they pass me
I love our esteemed Prince George's County Pubic Servants ,
and damn that 55 MPH speed limit on the belt way!

Lucky bitch.
Course most cops in PG county do 90-100....easily.
How do I know...75-80 is easily the true speed limit there, and they pass everyone like they are standing still.

bah, I've got a license but I need a car. Preferably an APC, but the Viper-Defender will do as well.MKSheppard wrote:I'm zooming down I-495/I-95 (the beltway) away from my job at 2:40 PM

I think cops like it when you slow down a lot after seeing them. The reason I think this is that I do it every time, and I've never been pulled over.
Just last night I was doing 90 on Lawrence Expwy (which has a 50 mph speed limit) at midnight, and as I approached a light, it turned yellow, so I accelerated to make it. The car waiting to turn that had made the light change was a SC County Sheriff. I didn't notice this until I was right on top of him, because it was pitch black outside and the expressway doesn't have any lights. As soon as I did notice, I practically slammed on my breaks, slowing from 97 to 60 in about one hundred feet. I continued on at 60, still 10 over the limit, but the cop didn't even look twice.
Similar things have happened to me on several occasions, and I can only assume that the cops let me slide because I slow down. At least, I hope they would go after me if I kept on speeding excessively. That's part of what I pay them to do, anyhow.

And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

As I understand it, emergency vehicles can go more than 10 MPH over the limit when their lights are on. But they can (and do) speed all they want when the lights are off.Andras wrote:I had a couple MD state troopers merge right in front of me on the beltway once. On some roads which people drive too fast on, the cops sometimes get in front of everybody and drive (relatively) slow just to keep people at safe speeds. That may have been what they were doing in that case.Andras wrote:I had a couple MD state troopers merge right in front of me on the beltway once.
