Earth: Final Conflict vs. Alien Nation
Is it just me or is one a bad ripoff of the other?

Re: Earth: Final Conflict vs. Alien Nation
Both were totally different. The aliens from Alien Nation were mostly slaves. The aliens in EFC wanted to use Humanity as the pawns in a war.RayCav of ASVS wrote:Is it just me or is one a bad ripoff of the other?

I never understood Earth: Final Conflict. It's on foxtel (cable in Oz) and the few episodes I watch make no sense at all. Any good, or utter crap?

I liked it from season one to the first episode of season 2 and then it was steady down hill plumett from crap to utter crap.
I think the show was screwed for reasons similar to why Andromeda is sucking ass. It started out cool because of premise, ongoing mystery and continuity, but apparently the people who buy syndicated shows didn't pay any attention to B5's success and chose to go with the least common denomenator. Make things more simple and add more action. "We want people to be able to just drop in an watch the show. We'll will pick up more viewers that way."
Even Hercules and Xena had a fair amount of continuity when they were ruling the syndicated market so what's the problem? Don' they think people have the attention span?
Sci-fi fans have a better attention span than most viewers and will stick around long after other viewers would have bailled (Trek) but I have given up on shows in the past instead of getting involved in them because I know that it won't get a fair shot to find it's audience and/or improve.

By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.
