It stands to reason that the arcane empire is going to have it's own spies in there as well. It would make sense for whatever covert agency that exist within the Nastar Republic would slip in agents into the CoG populace as well.

Makes this the battle of the spies, doesn't it?

Sure, and they would certainly be able to destroy the Ouster network (at least those parts of it that are participating in the resistance.) But take spies alive? I don't think so, and even if they were able to , they would have no way of knowing who they work for.

Seems more likey they would have to run test on dead bodies, yes. You've said genetics wise there's nothing to point the finger at you?

Yup. Even if the Arcaners knew shit about genetics (which they don't,) or anything detailed about Ouster physiology or genetic tech (which they don't,) the Ouster spies are genetically identical to random human samples picked up long beforehand.

-shrug- Not a problem. Ouster colonies are warrens-- they have many beautiful transparent halls and meeting-places looking out to space, but most of a cluster is a warren of twisty little tunnels and passages.

Once a group of spies begins acting to help resistance forces they can be traced. Now, this isnt to say we will be able to hold this Ouster on charges... Or that he wont swallow a cyanide pill before we can interroagate him.

Spies gathering info is one thing, spies acting to aid an insurgent group become traceable by scent.

Yes, I realized that little detail about the time you submitted your OOB.

Once again, Alyrium, while you can certainly catch spoiess and deal with them, the chan ces of you tracing them back to their home nations in any conclusive fashion are very, very low.

Oh, and Bugsby, I would have purchased weapons through a middleman, via convoluted web of middlemen, most likely.

Not as low as you seem to imply. The simple fact is that any spies that report back have to leave some trail, convoluted as it may be. I think you're entirely overestimated the ability of spies (which also has the effect of killing a lot of the fun). No one has ever managed to operate spys with out some trails, it's as simple as that.

Eh, maybe. The number of middlemen is kind of irrelevant. The Combine does not betray their contracts. Someone trying to trace Krell weapons would be stopped at the first step. Besides, I was using that aside to add flavor to the post, not to prove anything substantive about Krell/Ouster/Ix'agal relations.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold the phone. Tycho, a brown dwarf is a type of star. I'm pretty sure the system isn't binary, and such a burnt out star would be of no use to you anyway.

No worries. The 3rd War Cluster is in-system, and will be dissuading them from that course of action through a little Violent Resolution to Conflict

Captain Tycho, I hope you realise this, but the Edean system has a full 3rd of the Ouster fleet present, as well as fledgeling Ouster clusters in it's asteroid fields. We have EMP bombed the surface of the planet and wrecked most, if not all, of their high technology, and are FIRMLY in control of the system. You would have been immediatly detected upon arriving in-system and challenged; you certainly would not have had time to begin build WARSHIPS forgodsdakes.

So that I am not accused of pulling things out of my ass, Yrt Ztal has the following things with him on his raid:

1 high-power rifle (slung on his back)
2 standard blaster pistols (hip holsters)
6 titanium blades- 6 in long (various places around his body)
20 orb-grenades - various types (thigh pockets)
1 stolen Arcane mage-blade, 8 in. long, cuts through metal like soft cheese (right hip)
1 set of simple neural implants. Feed him time, his location, some enhanced situational awareness, protection from basic psy attacks, etc.
1 Grade-B stealth suit (w bad-ass looking stealth cloak)
1 personal shielding unit (VERY weak, can deflect glancing blows only)
1 set finger-pads (read game thread for more details)

He has the tools, he has the skillz. Now lets see what happens!
