Agreed, a few years ago, she was as conservitive as it got. Then her hubby came out of the closet and they got devorced, and I don't know if its an attension thing or what, but she ditched her old ideology and now is more of a 'flavor of the month' ideology.TrailerParkJawa wrote:I would'nt call her Conservative, she is more of an oppurtunist in my opinion. She does'nt like Arnold either.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Gee this is what happens when you spend the last 10 years on a mountain top, where the local politician is a Christian Republican, who is also Pro-Enviornment (gee all of the constituants, are employed by people dependant on tourists drawn by pristine bational parks), also since all of his constituance are small business people, he's anti corp too.....
I honestly don't know how he fits in at the meetings with the rest of the republicans....

You don't know Arianna Huffington, then. She was a lead Clinton witch hunter back in the day, and she was a raving neo-conservative lunatic (not like Anne Coulter, but still pretty bad). She did a great segment on Bill Mahr's "Politically Incorrect" when it was on Comedy Central with Al Franken called "Strange Bedfellows." She basically was Frankin's opposition. Now, ten years later, those two are on the same side of the fence. My my, isn't politics interesting? I think she might've gotten a wake-up call when she divorced her neo-con husband.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:A conservative in California is still a liberal in my eyes.
Though on The Daily Show, she did make a good point in reference to people voting for Nader or someone else instead of Kerry. "You can't talk about remodeling the house when it's on fire."

If Arianna has a party, it's the Raving Lunatic Party.

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."- General Sir Charles Napier

I wouldn't have worded it that way, but it's true. California has it's pockets of conservative communities. The Kernel wrote:Then you really don't know California. Maybe it's just my view on things, but I imagine any hatred for Dubya in California is related more to him turning his back on the state during the big energy crisis of 2001, or am I mistaken?

The energy crisis is only part of it. Since most of us in the big urban centers are really liberal when it comes to gays, pot, religion, etc, George is not a favorite.Vohu Manah wrote:I wouldn't have worded it that way, but it's true.
