Observation: Student Visa wierdness

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

well as you know here in Yosemite we been getting a lot of our seasonal employment from overseas. And recent INS restrictions as a result of the US government has made it more difficult for us to keep our employee's working. Well except for something strange....

It seems that the government has been allowing student's from very politically hot countries to come and work here: South Africa , former Slavic soviet satillites, etc.

yet fairly safe countries (Costa Rica, South Lorea, Japan etc.) have not been allowed to work here????

what gives?

As I am currently in the process of getting a student visa for an internship, I can tell you that the red tape is enormous, and it is a pain in the ass to get one...

The DPG (deutsche physikalische Gesellschaft, largest and oldest professional association of physicists world wide) has actually complained about the fact that the "Antiterror"-measures have started to disrupts exchange research.
Scientists were banned from travelling to conferences, students from visiting american universities for 1 semester or the whole course of their study.
What theChristian science monitor has to say about it.

meanwhile 80,000 people a week sneak across the Mexican border. Isn't the government familliar with the concept of Pareto Analsys? Plot the types of immigration issues on a graph by level of infraction an attack the largest problems first to achive maximum efficency. but Noooooo! if we crack down on the Mexican border it would be politically incorrect.

I did taxes for international students this year, and many of them were South Koreans - some of them even had families living with them. I also worked with some Japanese people - you sure about this, Bear?

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

I am saying is that this is what has happened when we tried to get new people in this spring.

read I am seeing lots of South Africans, and Slavs the 18 through 24 year olds from south korea, japan, sigapore etc were denied student work visas this year, though many of them spent 4 to 5 months over here last year. wierder still Ray Vella's girlfriend was denyied her Visa (she's from Costa Rica (which is a very stable pro usa country), where Ray's Parents currently work)?
