GTA3 - Backstory on "The Guy"

So? Anyone ever think of a backstory and/or name for "The Guy" from GTA3?

Personally, I have some kind of military background on him, just because of his "expertise" with weapons. When I play VC again, I may also have him somehow related to Tommy Vercetti, if only because they look quite a bit alike. As for the name... John Doe works oh-so-well. :)

Also, your own theories as to why he doesn't talk? I've seen some speculation that the reason is due to his getting shot in the opening credits (Eight Ball has the hands, The Guy has the vocal damage). I personally think that works fairly well. Your own thoughts?

Small time crim, unrelated to Vercitti, since he works for their competitors, gets ripped off by gf, goes for revenge. Its al in the intro. He doesn't talk because voice acting is bad :D

And, he never needs to :)

He can convey everything he needs by simply moving his head in affirmation.

Tommy Vercetti is bad-arse though, like really, you can't out-do him.

What happens, exactly, to Maria just after the game ends? How bad-ass is The Guy, really?

I thought it was "fan-canon" that the protagonist of GTA3 bore the name Alex?

Maria? He shoot her ass, as far as I can tell. IMO he went through all the ransom shit just to show his ex-girlfriend how stupid she was for screwing him over. He probably rather disliked Maria; she's obnoxious, loud, and she nearly got him killed and totally ruined a very promising career in the Salvatore family.

And his ex-girlfriend was pretty damn dumb., BTW.. if she had brought him along on her move to the cartel she would have been the queen of the American underworld inside of ten months. The Guy's a death machine.
