KOTOR 2 (Spoilers)
Looks like more stuff is appearing on the Knights of the Old Republic 2: Sith Lords.
Including some pics of what may be the main villain. I have to say he looks better than No Mouth McGee from the first one.
News article.
And it looks like another hot female Jedi will play a part in the story. 5 bucks says she's a haughty and arrogant one who'll be tempered by a dashing young scoundrel.

add "and anal sex" after dashing young scoundrel. And it looks like another hot female Jedi will play a part in the story. 5 bucks says she's a haughty and arrogant one who'll be tempered by a dashing young scoundrel.
I like the Phantom of the Opera thing they've got going though. Makes the Sith Lord look like a grim reaper. But really- how can you top the twist in KOTOR? They probably won't try. Maybe it'll be best to just start you off as a Jedi Padawan and stretch the game out for a few years- say, start the plot when you're a padawan, have shit happen, then jump forward to when you're a Knight.
And good, a PC version already exists.

You should have heard me laugh when I found out about KOTOR: I figured it'd escape the curse because its in the past. But no; Super Dark Side Stuff ... its so lame, so unoriginal, so stupid... they shouldn't let fanboy coders write the plot. SW is such a rich setting for any kind of story imaginable, but we always get the same shit. Any you know why?neoolong wrote:Maybe it'll be different this time?
Because people buy it. Its all YOUR FAULT! BWAhahahahahahaha....
JO was awful; here I was, surprised to see all the old settings, Dark Sith Power Force Draining Stupid Crap plot devices, the whole shebang. Ugh. Not to mention 'crush, pull and push are different powers' genius.
I am both glad we're getting another KotOR, and saddened it's still OR. I would have liked to see a KotNR, but then that acronym looks just ugly.
Seriously, why not set the story in the future, and see the legacy of Luke's Academy? No You-shit Vong, or Imperial crackpots, or Stormtroopers. Just a 100 years after ROTJ.
I echo Stark's sentiments. After reading through Dark Empire's 1 and 2 I am thoroughly sick of the "Dark Side Power Rips Apart Space!" and "Superweapon Rips Apart Planet/Space!" ideas. I would like the villains to be less... grand, and more subtle and sneaky. Make the setting less of a "Jedi Army versus Sith Army" and more of a "Jedi Protect Against Phantom Menace." Try something different. I would like to play a Jedi character who's on a investigation mission, or even a diplomatic mission, as opposed to a Jedi character who's out to save the galaxy. Of course you have the "save the galaxy" stuff develop later, but at the start I would like the characters to be in a sort of status quo, business as usual frame of mind, then something bad happens (maybe a planet gets destroyed or attacked) and the heroes are thrown into a sort of whirlpool of possibilities. And there will be no clear villain at the start, unlike KotOR.
I guess something like the Prequel Trilogy: the heroes don't know what's going on at the start, and most of their efforts is geared towards finding out what the threat is and eliminating it, unlike KotOR 1 where the threat was named in the opening scrawl. Am I making sense?

A Jedi detective investigation etc, like a conspiracy or something, with no superweapons or cliche shit like that, would indeed be a refreshing change.

The Star Forge was hardly the central article of the game.Stark wrote:[You should have heard me laugh when I found out about KOTOR: I figured it'd escape the curse because its in the past. WHile the Star Forge was a super Dark Side thiny, it wasn't a superweapon like in other games/novels/etc. It was actually a pretty cool idea. I mean, why settle for a single superweapon when you can have a million fleets?
Now, the fleets and ships they showed were pathetic and tiny, which anoyed me.

Obviously you never got to the Dark Side ending.Smiling Bandit wrote:WHile the Star Forge was a super Dark Side thiny, it wasn't a superweapon like in other games/novels/etc. It was actually a pretty cool idea. I mean, why settle for a single superweapon when you can have a million fleets?

Slightly OT - the endings to KotOR, at least in regards to the lightside ending, sucked. No closure. A real disappointment.YT300000 wrote: Obviously you never got to the Dark Side ending.
I only hope KotOR 2 will bear this in mind, and have multiple fleshed out endings for whatever RP choices you make. I'd hate to play something like KotOR again, only to get to the end and scream at my screen "Is that it?"
The Light Side ending was pansy-assed and shitty, yes; but the Dark Side ending rocked. It did better without closure, which would have stretched it out to much. Instead, it was shortish, to the point, and fucking sweet.Stofsk wrote:Slightly OT - the endings to KotOR, at least in regards to the lightside ending, sucked. No closure. IIRC, Lucasfilm has guidelines regarding how far ahead EU material is set, and something like that would be a big no-no.Stofsk wrote:I am both glad we're getting another KotOR, and saddened it's still OR. I would have liked to see a KotNR, but then that acronym looks just ugly.
