One would think war would automatically be serious. It can be farcical, but that by no means denotes comedy.

The US got into this (and dragged the UK with it because of that puppy called Blair) and now it must get out of it. If they pull out now, the Coalition is laughed at by the global village. If they stay and try to fix things, they may just be able to build a better nation, a tolerant nation, a place where something productive and not destructive is done. So far that means a lot of down payment in money and lives. But that's how it's being done so far. I can't speak for every Iraqi, no one can, but I'm sure there are those for an against this idea. I'd be concerned if there wasn't.
