It all falls apart right at the point of divergence, because he has the French bide their time and not enter the war.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Part of the problem with WWI is that so many of the European powers were in secret alliances with each other. So even in this case as soon as Germany and Russia go to war it's going to cause other nations to follow.

He also talks about British neutrality. That's another big no-no. The British wouldn't even consider being neutral in a conflict that had so much to do with the future of the islands.

Another thing he fails to discuss is how the heavily fortified border didn't seem to stop the Germans from entering France in WW2, they simply went around. The French could do that through Belgium or possibly attack Austria.

But yeah, from the point of divergence it completely falls apart.

As for the WW2 scenario...that's so screwed up that I don't know where to begin.

It falls apart at the point of divergence and a couple other points; I'd have much preferred not to have wasted any of my time reading the part I did.

Utter horseshit.

By the way, does anyone have a link to the dystopian alt-history For All Time? I did a Google and Wiki search and all the links I can find are dead ones.

It happens that President Chester A. Arthur posted on the newsgroup soc.history.what-if fairly frequently, including his timeline

Google groups search link

Putting the posts in the proper order is left as an exercise to the reader.
