I only put "completely fucked" because of what Bush & Co. thought or claimed they were going to be able to do in Iraq. I think the US could bail on the place and only end up looking stupid. Iraq would then likely super duper mega fucked in the extreme, but that's not the Occupation.

Fuck, I don't know, I've never been there and the media only focuses on the bad stuff. Bad but salvageable, I guess.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Bad but salvageable. Not by the current administration, but salvagable.

Bad but salvageable. It is comparatively quiet in the Kurd and Shiite sectors, though the prisoners drama is yet to fully manifest itself. The military pulling out of Falluja might also help calm things a bit. Am surprised some blatent bribery by the coalition has nto been happening - e.g. hearts and minds and reconstruction organisation, instead it is still treated as a warzone. Not clever.

Corrected posting error.

Bad but salvegable. The average Iraqi still doesn't seem to give a shit, there's no massive popular uprising at this point.

With the right people making the decisions, I'm sure it could still be salvaged. However, if Team Bush stays the current course in Iraq, then I guess it's fucked...

Its fair as occupations go; such action never goes to plan. Bush is still an idiot for doing it the way he did, but we could hardly expect things to be peachy no matter who was running it.

Salvageable. In theory, anyway.

Salvagable.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

With the Iraqis not giving a shit is why I said completely fucked. There apathy, IMO, is all that's required for failure.

Well, I see apathy as a fixable problem. As I said, Joe Iraqi is not (yet) fanatically anti-US.

Somewhere between bad and fair. Given that alot of the (non-news media) reports outside of a very few isolated areas aren't too bad, I'll cast my vote for fair.

Apathy or indifference is not such a bad thing. It simply means that the Iraqis will go with whichever side wins.

I still see it as tittering on the edge. Right now its a bunch of brushfires we're running around stamping out. If it falls into full scale civil war, we're fucked.

Not that Bushy and Co. did a great job, but its not a desaster yet.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
