"He stopped aging at the age of 21.. 600 years ago. With everything that goes with that, besides mental maturity. The levels of hormones in his blood stream are probably off the charts... I can just imagine how much he... amuses himself late at night. Though, I would probably have a blood vessel burst in my brain if I tried to quantify it"
"Ow, I understand the feeling. I have no less than 12 laws dictating who I can sleep and can't sleep with. The Congrass can be prudish at times."
"We dont have any laws about that... The simple matter is, I dont have time to have sex. I am one of the few psionicists on the Council of mages, and because I represent every single psionicist on the world of Aber Toril... I have no time to get laid."
Artimus said.
'Why oh why do I run for re-election?"

Seeing the disturbed looks of Artus Artimus decided to respond
"Oh dont worry, Karsus is not insane. He simply has an off color sense of humor. Dirty humor is the best kind of humor. There is no reason to hide our nature as sentient beings, but there is every reason to poke fun at it"

Nobunaga's eyes widened, suddenly, all cheer rushing from his face.
"I don't think I want to talk to you, Mage. The blood of fifteen of my brothers and sisters is on your voidsucking hands. The only reason I can sleep at night is because we took three of you bastards for every one of ours lost."
His stare was hard, and despite the fact he represented a tiny faction compared to the great Arcane Empire, he stared straight into the Mage's eyes.

The Veithan delegation watched silently as words were exchanged around them. The arrival of the Krell representatives had not gone unnoticed, but at the moment the Empire did not wish to directly associate with the Krell. Their stunt in Manasa had earned them disfavor, and the Manasans as a whole would not deal with them for decades to come, or so the new King said. Magdalena herself was ambivalent about the Krell, aware of their usefulness to nations clever enough to use them; she found their notion of “honor” to be ridiculous. It was true that they were by and large simply tools of others, but that fact did not absolve them of responsibility for their actions. Some Krell argued that you could not blame a gun for a murder. And that may be so, but a gun was not sentient and so the analogy was from perfect. The truth of the matter was however, that as long as there was a market for them mercenaries like the Krell would thrive. And as long as they were worth the price, the Krell would survive.
Although Magdalena herself was a strong P2, her mind laid coiled within her. She was aware of the protocols in a meeting such as this, and politeness dictated that her talent be kept to herself. The sole links her mind had established was to her companions, thoughts exchanged between the group in privacy. The Veithan thoughts were shielded beneath multiple layers of defenses. The words of various representatives examined and considered before a final decision was reached. Once that decision was reached, it was tucked away into a corner of her mind. She had not caught sight of the representatives of the Grand Empire; information from their embassy in their space had suggested that great things were in the works between their nations. If that was the case, she would have liked to introduce herself to her mirror in the Grand Empire. For a moment, her mind was adrift in possibilities; Enough so that the approach of another, had gone unnoticed.
It was the thoughts of her bodyguards that brought her out of her reverie, her eyes glancing directly in front of her and seeing the man there that bowed politely and locked her gaze. Twin emeralds blinked for a moment, her eyes fluttering in a blink as the words from the man before her were clearly heard. She could feel the minds of her guards harden through their link, her thoughts preventing any outburst as her head tilted slightly to the right, allowing strands of hair to slide down her shoulders. The man before her was bold to approach, and while the music about them was indeed pleasant she was not here to indulge herself in a dance with anyone. Ruby lips parted, words beginning to form before they were lost when she caught sight of the Ravenlock symbol upon him.
”You honor me with your request, but at this particular moment I find myself unable to accept your gracious invitation.” Her guards showed no outwards signs of emotion, although curiosity bloomed in both minds. Their thoughts unanswered for the moment. “I am pleased that the Consortium managed to send a representative to this meeting.” She smiled, her facial features blossoming like a forest clearing beneath the spring sun. “My name is Magdalena Hyrt, representative to the Veithan Empire.” She bowed her head for a moment, her eyes glancing about them for a moment as her smile was replaced by a small smirk. “I hope that the galaxy as a whole has been…welcoming of you and yours.”

The Secret Service bodyguards stirred over by the walls, and the Marines outside tensed up, prepared to come in at the first report of trouble from the Service. The last thing they needed was a Floater to attack a mage... If that happened they'd need to get President Major out of the building before the whole damn thing exploded.

Emir al-Shad approached the Veithan delegation confidently and introduced himself, his manner stiff yet friendly.
"Hello, friends. My name is Emir al-Shad, the military commander of the Krell Combine. I realize that I may be breaking several rules of ettiquette by approaching here, but I would like to congradulate you. I read the debrief of our agent from the first Manasan operation, and I must say that I am impressed. Few powers have been able to stop one of our operatives at work, and from what I hear your man was most impressive. I hold you no ill will because of your resistance during that encounter, and I hope you hold us no ill will. I simply wish to commend you on a job well done, from one person of military mind to another."

"Couldn't you 'talk' someone into running? After all if you declare you are quiting after next term, what else can they do? But enough of that. I'm going to sample some of our gracious host's wine, care to join me oh fellow slave of duty?"

"Regard for life? Shut your fucking mouth, Heavy." The phrase was a horrific insult- the term Heavy was the Floater equivelent of "spic" or "kike"- a nasty word for flatlanders. "I've seen the newscasts. Your murder-squads slaughtering civilians like animals- and I was on the Cluster when your beasts hulled us. If I hadn't ordered everyone vaccuum ready, a thousand civilians would have died. Get out of my face before you make me sick."
-/ooc/ Remember, this guy is the leader of a Floater cluster. That means he is probably a very "front line" leader, who is there when his people get killed. Basically, your approaching him would be like Osama bin Laden going up to Guiliani and telling him that next time, he'll use an A-bomb.

"MURDER SQUADS!!" karsus said very angrily
"If you had paid attention, those people were anything but innocent. They were MURDERING OUR SOLDIERS bombing their own hospitals and water treatment plants and killing the people who coperated with us. They wre not innocent and any attempt at painting them as such is gross propaganda! We have a right to defend ourselves, as much as you do. Maybe if you had half a brain and werent so impulsive you would have known that. But instead you never even bothered to ask us what was going on. How many casualties we suffered every single day. How many truley innocent religious moderates on that planet had fallen victim to the fundamentalist terrorists that live on that world. We only killed them after they tried to kill us, or their neighbors. No different than American troops in the 2nd Iraqi war in the 21st century when faced with the same problems."

"In fact, I do have time. But I fear that any conversation I enter with Freeman Tor would invariably end badly- the man's brain is clearly gently dissolving in Jardanian whiskey."
The tall Ouster smiled slightly.
"As for our culture, it is an incredible thing. These cities are impressive, in their own way, but the work of flatlander architects is so simplistic compared to the anarchistic splendor of a Cluster. Our people are as ourt cities- sprawling, ever-growing, chaotic- yet focused on our goal, expanding behind the protection of the Hajr."

The Lord Protector walked over to the feuding pair, his bodyguard close behind and his cousin trailing along in loose orbit. The rest of the U.P group gathered around the area.
"Gentlemen, you both lost people. I think this is not the time or place to discuss it. I suggest you agree on another time and place or just let it drop. This is a party after all, bringing in your own quarrels like this might be considered just a tad rude." The Lord Protector said in a cold voice, no longer seeming so young.
Jon sighed for a moment, somewhat relieved that Thomas had been declined, now he just had to make sure that Thomas did not manage to utterly annihilate the progress made in their initial contact with the Veithans. Thomas, however, feigned disappointment jovially for a moment. “A pity, truly. Perhaps another time, Magdalena. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Thomas Blakely, and my rapidly approaching colleague is Jon Cameron, the man in charge of our little party.”
Smiling sardonically, Jon nodded slightly to the Veithans, in particular to Magdalena, “I apologize for my associate’s forwardness, Miss Hyrt. He is somewhat impulsive at times. In any event, it seems that your representatives were accurate in their portrayal of the Galaxy at large. The current conflicts have resulted in a lack of notice by most concerning us, but then we have not exactly been blatantly advertising our presence as of late.”
“I’m sure that will change once marketing gets clearance from the Director, eh?” Thomas smiled at Jon, who quickly took a sip of his drink.
“In any case, I would like to pass along word from the Director, he was most appreciative of your contributions at the diplomatic meeting, and looks forward to meeting your chosen representatives when they are ready to see him.”
As the Krell Combine party approached, Jon watched them quietly. Then the shouting started from the Ousters and the Arcanists. Looks like Thomas got him involved in a bit of local conflict after all…

The approach of their new guest did not go unnoticed, two heads turning to glance towards the approaching male. He moved confidently and it took mere moments for his affiliation to be ascertained. Thoughts exchanged between the delegation before Magdalena excused herself for a moment from the Ravenlock representative. Her head turned, eyes seeking and finding those of Emir al-Shad. When the man spoke, she listened. She waited until the man had finished speaking before speaking in turn.
”Greetings. There is no breach of etiquette; this meeting exists in order to facilitate unions such as this as well as other things.” She paused for effect, a thin smile upon her lips as she nodded her head to the Krellian accepting his congratulations gracefully. “Your congratulations are noted and appreciated; I wish to congratulate you as well. It is obvious that your people are very capable in their own right. I do not hold any ill will towards you or yours Emir al-Shad, and while I am certain that you have heard of the Manasan pledge not to hire your forces in the future, I am certain that you will find other markets to make up the loss.” It was a sure thing, considering the publicity that the Combine had made after the successful assassination attempt on the Manasan King. The governmental palace was in the process of being modernized. When it was completed, the new King would be quite safe from a repeat performance by the combine.
It was only then that Magdalena thought of her guest, her head turning to glance towards the Ravenlock representative. “The Krell Combine which Emir al-Shad is part of is arguably the best mercenary group in known space. They are extremely capable, and have…proven this time and time again.” Her tone was dry but friendly, her eyes glancing from al-Shad to the Ravenlock male. “Remember to always negotiate with the Combine, they are known for having excellent negotiators and ironing out an agreement can sometimes be a battle in its own right.” Her tone was pleasant, and it was obvious that she meant no disrespect. It was simply a matter of course that the Combine wanted as much money as possible up front, while those that hired them wanted to pay as little as possible up front. Finding a middle ground could be…arduous at times.
"Excuse me, please." Krell stepped away from Artus, and headed over to where the Arcane Mage and hte Floater captain were locked in an argument.
"Gentlemen, if you will excuse me please?" The argument let up for a second as the two men turned to see the new arrival.
"I am a mercenary," Krell continued. "As such, I live off of strife. But through this I have come to realize the time and place for confrontation. This is not the time nor the place for confrontation. You are disturbing the cordial mood. If you would please delay this argument until a later time, or at least move it outside." He smiled.
