Astropaths, intercept those transports!!!

The admiral screamed as he realized troop transports were headed in their direction.

The kinetics on the capital ships used what amounted to a telekinetic tractor beam to grab the transports, and hold them in position long enough for the medium wepons, which were not fixed mounts, to bring them down.

Damage should hopefully be minimal.

The Jammers were in the middle of doing their best to keep the enemy gunners guessing, and as they channeled power through the Mythallars to their task, enemy accurcary decreased sharply.

Unshielded vessels of course, became sitting ducks for the biggest weapons on the ships(Dorsal and ventral mounted, as well as on turrets), the massive dual barreled disintegration weapons. Their hulls cracked as they literally deatomized the outer hulls, which could no longer then contain the internal air-pressure.
It had been expected that the Arcane Empire would try and stop the troop transports, no sane fleet would do otherwise. The Arcane Astropaths were hindered by the chaotic battlefield in space all about them, and the constant rain of fire upon their vessels. The astropaths had to concentrate to effectively harness their energies, and the Krynnor ships had no desire to make that easy. Furthermore, the troop transport possessed shields, energies which fought back against the Arcane tractor beams through random modulations. It was like trying to catch a slippery fish with wet hands.

Twenty five of the transports lost their fight to the tractor beams of the Arcane Empire but they continued to resist in the hopes of managing to break free. Eighteen more were destroyed as they approached Arcane lines, transports exploding wordlessly as they gave their cargo to the void. Of the fifty seven survivors, fifteen were unfortunate enough to get in the way of Arcanist capital fire and seized to be. The final survivors all fourty two of them managed to break it past Arcane point defense fire and fighter cover and reach their destinations. The transports were not terribly effective, but they added considerable velocity to their internal payload. Explosions blossomed on the shields and armor of their intended targets, those with glimmering spheres surrounding them ignored.

Arcane ECM was proving to be relatively effective, although far less so than would be expected. Although the minds of the Krynnor were not protected from manipulation, the fleet's computer cores were coordinating the maneuvers and point defense systems. In this manner, Arcane ECM was lessened. Nonetheless, Arcane fire was adjusting and proving terrible in its rage. Fleet maneuvers were only delaying the inevitable, and any ship which was caught without shields promptly suffered beneath the devil magic of the Arcanists. Eight Battle Carriers and One Heavy Mothership had the misfortune of meeting such a fate, their shields offering no protection from the disintegration effects. Large parts of the hull simply seized to be, offering no protection to its inhabitants from the void. Krynnor personnel spilled into space, gasping for air while half of their bodies froze while half burned. Bomber wings paid the price for their boldness and no less than twenty seized to be. The effective firepower of the Krynnor fleet was dropping rapidly, but so was that of the Arcane fleet, especially since some ships were seeking refuge from the maelstrom beneath their glimmering magic shields. The battle went on, blood repaid with blood.

The Lord Protector was not about to let his allies hog all the fun of a first contact. While worried the 3rd fleet, he knew his men would do the best job possible.

"Ho, there Karsus, mind if I butt in?" He said walking towards the Atlantian group. He turnned toward the Atlantian ambassador.

"Welcome, I am Lord Protector of the United Protectrates. May I say it's a honor to meet you and welcome you here?"

The mood at the Grand Ball had turned serious. News of war and new arrivals had all the dignitaries considering only business and politics as the futures of their empires hung in the balance hundreds of lightyears away over Camaro. Everyone could feel the tension... except for those who were plastered out of their brains, that is.

Faran Tor and Trilla Nor were over by the bar laughing and raucously singing along with the waltz being played, a jarring sound to hear. Faran had had more than was good for him, and once Trilla had gotten in the mood, she had drunk just as much as Faran had. They were now engaged in a lively conversation about the other people at the dance.

"Just look at em!" Faran was saying. "All runnin around, actin so serious. War this. Goa'uld that. And look at the dolphin people! Dammit, not one of those guys is having a good time."

"So boring," Trilla agreed.

"Hey, you're one to talk. You were just as uptight as they are."

"Was not."

"Yes you were. Just an hour ago, you were telling me how stupid and rude I was being for drinking here."

"And now I'm having fun. You showed me a good time."

"I try."

"Hey come on, lets show them how to have a good time!" With that, Trilla jumped off her bar stool, and grabbing Faran began to dance with him around the floor. Horribly uncoordinated, thier dance consisted mostly of tripping over each other and bumping into important diplomats and heads of state, laughing the whole time. They were creating quite a spectacle, as the rest of the diplomats furiously concentrated on ignoring them or simply stared in horror at the drunken lack of sophistication being displayed at such a formal event.

Taking one more turn around the room, Faran and Trilla stumbled to the door.

"Good night, folks, its been great!" Faran called back.

"Yes it has, and we love you all!" Trilla blew a kiss to the room, then, giggling manically, stumbled out.

Over in the corner, Adar Krell just sighed. "They're not usually like that. Well, Faran is. But Trilla is usually much more grounded."

"Youth these days," muttered Emir, and the two friends shared a quiet chuckle.

Sol System, Grand Ball

As the Veithan representative made her way to tohers, the Crown Prince excused himself, and mingled a bit with the other dignitaries. This war that has started certainly did dampen the mood.
He got himself something to eat, and listened here and there, but most were involved in some discussion about the aar or other...

Gladsheim Prime, Imperial Plaza

<<I really don't understand them,>> Empress Elana said to her foreign affairs councilor. <<Those Goa'uld should've kept a low profile. It just seems like they're asking for it...>>
<<Yes, stupid, altogether. But there's nothing that can be done...>>
<<At least we can take a look, can we?>> She turned to Grand Admiral Aurupo.
<<We still have a destroyer in the vicinity. We can dispath her to observe.>>
<<Do so.>>

***

The Fast Destroyer Cebren slipped out of her wormhole light minutes outside of the disputed system.
The various fleets were not hard to miss, and it took every data it could get, scanning fleets and weapons signatures.
And it seemed the Goa'uld were very much on the loosing side of this...

Warship of the Hajr Inevitable Ascendence
Camaro System

Bondman Subadmiral Atja su Miitgar's vessels hung tight over Camaro herself. Their guns were largely tied up supporting the Ouster marines swarming over the planet's surface- The vessel shook slightly as broadside weapons sent another volley of devastation towards the world below. Atja watched the displays as the Krynor navy began it's suicidal last stand against the combined force of the Alliance. Atja lowered his eyes- the raw, unstoppable strength of the Alliance could not be denied. Each power had sent a fraction of their forces, and they were wiping out the totality of the Krynor Imperial Navy in a single engagement. It was the greatest scene of death and destruction since the Genocide Wars. He respected the bravery of the Krynor, as one soldier respected another. He wondered how many had been loathe to follow their master's orders- and then shook his head. No, they were Flatlanders, and freedom-stealers. Their deaths served everyone, and if they took a few mages with them, all the better. Atja had other business to attend to.

"Subadmiral! Contacts appraoching the planet, I read- My god, one hundred and fifty individual Krynor invasion transports!"

"Notify the soldiers they will be forced to rely on CAS for the time being. All vessels, your orders are to intercept and engage the Krynot vessels."
His mind focusing, Atja surveyed the situation. The Krynor had arrived close to the planet- they could begin landing almost immediatly. Already, Hajr Dragoons were loading up in VTOL aircraft at their secured landing sights and moving to intercept any landing transports- the JAffa would find themselves engaged upon planetfall by skirmishers, units equipped with spotters for the orbital artillary. Meanwhile, Atja's command would shoot as many of the transports out of the sky as possible.

The Inevitable Ascendence and her sister, the Soldier's Duty, turned as one, aiming their impressive forewards armaments. Each vessel was built around two wave motion cannon which ran the length of the ship, their ugly muzzles forming their bow. The hangars and launch tubes which held the Attack Carrier's compliment of fighters were almost an afterthought to the potent forewards weapon- both vessels were dangerous hybrids. Fire lashed out, twin streams of space/time distortion reaching out at faster than light speeds to impact against the vessel's shields, releasing gouts of gridfire. In seconds, four of the transports were hellish parodies of their former selves, burning where their shields fell. Antimatter projectors swept streams of ravening annihilation over the exposed hulls, inflicting greivous damage on the crippled vessels.

The fleet's escorts and crusiers fell on the Krynor vessels as they attempted to land their cargoes of Jaffa troops on the world below- but there were many transports, more than the small detatchment of Hajr warships could hope to destroy. Many would get through, the lucky surivivors finding themselves outnumbering the Hajr marines even now preparing to fight for their lives.

Sheriff Squadron, Camaro surface

"What's that?" Sheriff Lead listened to his radio again. "Shit. Squad, this is Lead. We've got incoming enemy drop ships on approach. Stay sharp."

"Sheriff Lead, this is Deputy Lead. We're going to break off and see what we can do about that; enemy air threats down here seem largely neutralized."

"Roger Deputy. Much obliged; we'll join you when we're Winchester on air to mud ammo. Sheriff Lead, magnum."

Deputy Squadron, high Camaro atmosphere

Deputy Flight was gaining altitude fast, searching for the drop ships. "Hawkeye, this is Deputy. Requesting vector to enemy drop ships."

"Deputy, Hawkeye," came the response from the E-50, "Vector 330 for fifty, 30,000 and descending. Clear to engage."

"Roger, pursuing. Deputy, engage."

"As ordered, Lead. Deputy 4, Fox 3!"

Deputy Lead switched on his active sensors to designate targets for his missiles. Then he saw it. "My God..." There were over a hundred transports. Between all the planes in his flight, they carried 60 missiles. Gun work... "Mix it up! Deputy One, Fox 3!"

The KSN fleet turned to present their foreward fire arcs to the enemy and opened up, sending a barrage of lasers, neutron blasts, and particle beams twards the Krynor Fleet. The armada concentrated it's fire on the enemy's smaller escort vessels, destroying many of them.

[OOC: this post deals with the Ousters and to a lesser extent the Nashtar fighter force. I am treating the Krynnor troop transports as being comparable to escorts, since they were listed as escorts in the OOB.]

Krynnor Republic Space
Camaro System

The one hundred and fifty troop transports that constituted the Krynnor’s republic attempt to reinforce its beleaguered forces in the planet headed towards the planet proper with all haste. Each transport was loaded to the brim with personnel and weaponry of various kinds. The status of the Krynnor fleet was impossible to truly ascertain, the sensor systems on the transports unable to break through the large amount of ECM interference in the battlefield. Nonetheless, the flashes of light that blossomed along Krynnor and Arcane lines were difficult to miss by the command crews of the transports. The Krynnor fleet was committed and if it was to die, then it would do so in defense of its worlds.

The command crews were preoccupied with the presence of their enemies, to consider their own situation in depth. If the Krynnor fleet fell, then their troops would be unsupported on the ground. Nonetheless, there was no time for hesitation. All these points had been brought up in briefings before, and they all understood their duty. The mass of troop transports moved in formation, the distance between ships a bit more loose than would have been expected. The Krynnor were not fools, and they fully expected that the transports would come under fire. In that situation, it would have been foolish to assume a tight formation, since that would have meant that one casualty could quickly blossom into two or three.

The Ouster forces reacted and the troop transports nearly winced as they began to enter the outer edges of the planet’s atmosphere. The Ouster fleet was like death itself considering which transport to pick out for a trip to the afterlife. The transports did what they could to try and use their smaller size and superior maneuverability against the Ouster maneuvering force, but by entering the atmosphere they had to stick close to their approach vectors or risk disaster. It could not be helped. The initial barrage from the Ouster capital ships manifested upon the transports and four of the transports were hit directly, there was no escape for those. Shields failed, anti-matter licking the external hulls of the vessels and consuming them voraciously. Krynnor troop transports were as hardened as frigates, but the Ouster fire could not be denied.

The four lost transports would not be the last, as the Ouster escorts and cruisers fell over the survivors; eight troop transports were destroyed outright with another eight disabled and destroyed in mid-flight. For the last, their vessels simply seized to be, three of which broke apart in mid air spilling their contents of Jaffa and weapons into the skies like trees spreading their seeds to the wind. There was no time to mourn, after the transports had penetrated the planet’s atmosphere they broke apart, maneuvering and utilizing their ECM against the forces that sought their destruction. Of the surviving one hundred and thirty transports, fifteen were heavily damaged by the Ouster fleet I conjunction with Nashtar fighter support. The Nashtar fighters discovered to their chagrin however, that Krynnor troop transports were comparable to escorts and were heavily armored and shielded, in addition to mounting significant point defense. The Nashtar attack was blunted, their fighters paying the price for their boldness. The damaged troop transports were forced to land out of alignment and position with their brothers and sisters. Some of these ships fell behind enemy lines; others fell hundreds of kilometers away from the lines.

One hundred and fifteen troop transports made it to their landing zones, some in better shape than others. Jaffa ran down the landing pads clutching in their arms weapons, explosives and everything they had brought with them. The entire operation was carried out quickly, the Jaffa scattering into a nearby forest for protection. The landing zones were not safe, and the troop transports attempted to extend their shields and focus them upwards offering some protection to the troops below. The troop transports point defense came to life, data nets coming to life as the battered remnants of the planetary forces communicated with the new arrivals.

The newly landed Jaffa were given their instructions, every moment was precious since the surprise of their arrival would not last for long. Jaffa were tasked with engaging the enemies of the Krynnor, and when every Jaffa had disembarked from their transports, the very transports that had brought them to the planet prepared to assist them in their ground offensives. The situation was far from ideal, but desperation had a way of demanding such actions. Of the original one hundred and fifteen transports, only ninety seven remained operational. Eighteen transports had fallen prey to Ouster concentrated fire upon their shields and formation as they had disembarked their troops. The survivors climbed into the air and began to hunt for Ouster targets, only to meet with Hajr aircraft in transit. The Ouster small crafter were far more maneuverable, but the Krynnor transports even battered had more endurance and their point defense and actual weaponry, was still considerable. If the Krynnor forces were to die this day, they would take as many enemies as they could to the void. The fact to give out as much as you took, was in the mind of every Krynnor Jaffa and troop transport personnel.

150 Kilometers South of New Basra
Camaro

Like a flock of scavenger birds, the Hajr VTOL transports converged on the carcasslike hulks of the landing Jaffa troopships. Frija's seat near the cockpit of the vessel allowed her an excellent view out of the forewards canopy- she could see the pillars of ravening destruction that were orbit-to-surface HEL strikes, beams of coherent light boiling the surface with their intense power, turning one Jaffa ship, then another, into smoking craters. Secondary explosions rose in the distance- ahead, she could see the nightmare realm of a JAffa landing sight, a dozen massive transports spread out in a forest, each one sitting in a clearing burned by the intense power of their landing thrusters. Each of those transports must carry thousands of men. she thought. We are out numbered- and that's not even considering the survivors of the planetary defense force. Never the less, she had her duty to do- the 3rd Assault Company was a Dragoon unit, trained in combat drop operations- and the nearest unit to this particular enemy drop-sight. Along with the 4th, 5th, and 6th Assault, the flock of Hajr dropships carried perhaps a thousand men and women. They would be outnumbered ten to one, but the Ouster soldiers were all wearing light power-armor, and a dozen forewards fire contrellors with direct freecaster links to the warships above were with them. Any concentration of enemies they could find would be burned from the face of Camaro by the orbiting vessels. It was risky, but the leaders had ordained it as the only possible solution to the Jaffa attept to retake New Basra.

Anti-air fire lashed out from Jaffa positions. A hail of brilliant crimson bolts reached up. Where they touched, shields flared and laden dropships burst into flame, falling to the ground below. << Hang in there! we must land now! There's no way we can survive point defense of theat magnitude! >>

The vessels touched down, clearing out forested areas with explosives. Frija's unit jumped from their vessel, fanning out into the woods, moving at the unnaturally fast run that their power-armor and genetic modifications allowed. << Fan out, and dig in. We are to hold the line here, none of the Jaffa are to make it past. Our landing sights in New Basra depend on it.>>

Frija reached into her stachel, pulling out an Ouster entrenching tool. She slammed the cone-shaped device into the ground and ducked behind cover. A second later, it was raining wet clumps of dirt- the device blasted a neat crater into the ground. She jumped in, signalling to Welch. He hunkered down besides her, grinning at the display of technological ingenuity. Besides them, Kale and Westan set up their heavy fletcher, the nasty tribarrel weapon resting on a bipod. Chameleon cloth soon shielded the foxholes and bunkers from enemy eyes- the advancing servants of the System Lord wouldn't know what hit them. It commanded an excellent approach- the Jaffa would pay with blood for every step they took towards New Basra.

Around them, up and down the line, crew-served weapons were deployed.
<< All troops, be advised- Jaffa approaching. They'll be on your position in five minutes. Looks like they aren't sure exactly where we are- Enemy air recon is nil.>>

"Roger Deputy, en route. Sheriff flight, form up. We've got enemy heavies landing, we need to take 'em out before they land their troops."

"Got it. I've got your wing, lead."

The strike fighters streaked towards the transports. "Enemy in range! Sheriff Lead, magnum with two. Sheriff, engage."

Anti-ship/anti-ground missiles, much heavier duty than the air-to-air that Deputy was armed with, leapt off the rails and streaked towards the nearest transport. "Intrepid, this is Sheriff Lead. We need reinforcements, now! Cruiser or battleship bombardment would be ideal."

"Sheriff, Intrepid. The Broadsword is tied up at the moment. Tasking Kensington and Oppenheimer to your position."

The fleet's two cruisers followed the Broadsword in as far as it went, escorting destroyers guarding their flanks. The battleship took up station between the Arcane fleet and the attacking enemy escorts, all guns blazing while the cruisers and four destroyers flew on past, similarly blasting away while skirting the enemy fleet to get to the transports. It didn't take long. "Sheriff flight, this is Kensington. Get clear, we're in sight and opening fire in ten seconds."

The port guns on the cruisers opened up, raining steel and explosives on the descending transports. They wouldn't be able to stop them all, but the ground troops were depending on them getting as many as they could. The destroyers launched torpedoes and generally did their best to mess up any attempt to interfere with the cruisers. The cruisers' spaceward guns continued to shell the enemy fleet.

::::::KSN third fleet, Camaro system:::::

Two Blade class assault fighters swooped over the terrain on Camaro

"Blackstar one, we have enemy transports heading twards a Hajr position at three point five."

"jesus.... they're gonna get swarmed to death. Call in some goddam bombers. Meanwhile, we'll see what we can do"

The Hajr forces suddenly saw a pair of Jaffa troopships flash detonate after being struck by fusion missiles and plasma fire.

::::::Space Battle::::::

"God Dammit, I said concentraite fire on those damnd battleships"

A Krynor cruiser went up in flames on the bridge display, along with a pair of KSN fast destroyers.

"Sir, we're getting a request for bomber support from Blackstar squadron."

Another Krynor escort ship exploded under heavy pounding from two KSN battleships.

"Send two squadrons to the surface, but no more. We can't spare them."

The Goa'Uld fleet was now within the "Kill zone"(the 90 degree per side fire arc in which almost all of a ships weapons can be brought to bear) Admiral Nelson gave the order

"Avoid friendly fire, but send them to the hells. GIVE THEM A BROADSIDE MR. PRISTOL!!!"

Mr. Pristol, the tactical officer, loved nothing more than coordinating flet movements and broadside, his eyes were lit up like nupernovas as he relayed the comand from ship to ship.

The gun crews on the staff guns(henceforth known as "cannon") fired their weapons, checked the recoil, and loaded another shot. Each one an iron sphere that was exactly 1.36 feet across.

They picked their targets to avoid hitting enemy ships, each cannon having roughtly 90 degrees of maneverability on their mounts(analgous to how a cannon can elevate of be angled to the side) and the guns sounded again before the Goa'Uld could really retarget their own weapons or meneuver. The effect was devestating.

Krynnor Space
Camaro System

The Krynnor fleet was fully engaged against their hated enemies, maneuvering to make every Arcane shot as difficult as possible even as their own firepower was brought to bear on the Arcane vessels. Nonetheless, things were not occurring as smoothly as Jarlath had wished. His fleet outnumbered that of the Arcane, but their fleet was absorbing far more of his fire than he had anticipated. Concentrating on the Arcane escorts had yielded significant gains, but of those ships only half were destroyed outright. The devil magics of the Arcane were starting to show through. It was time, to switch tactics.

One of the motherships in his formation fell prey to a hail of fire, its shields pierced in a dozen places before failing completely. The armor of the mothership was torn and rent by the Arcane projectiles, her armor and hull ravaged by vile magics before the ship screamed and seized to be. He had known the captain of that vessel personally. His eyes narrowing before he spoke. “Hakath Mok That!” The order was carried forth, and the core of the Krynnor fleet its super capital ships obeyed. The twelve surviving motherships maneuvered into position and fired on the ship that had so angered their leader. Beneath the hail of fire of twelve heavy motherships nothing could stand for long. The shields of the vessel collapsed within seconds beneath the concentrated fire of the dozen angry vessels, her armor and hull savaged before the Arcane forces within could attempt to erect their glimmering devil shield. It was not enough, and by the time that the prismatic sphere had formed the ship was doomed. It imploded seconds after the prismatic sphere formed.

The heavy motherships then switched their fire towards the cruiser sized vessels of the Arcane formation. They had no desire to concentrate on battering the Arcane super-capital ships unless their deity directly commanded them. Of the dozen Heavy Motherships, three concentrated on a frigate pouring fire into the vessel until it was destroyed or out of the fight. Arcane point defenses were working in over time, and Krynnor strike fighters and bombers were being destroyed at an alarming rate. Nonetheless, they pressed on delivering their cargoes to their targets even as they died. Some of the fighters could not rearm; their carriers destroyed and so committed ramming attacks on their targets. A hundred tiny funeral pyres blossomed along Arcane shields and hulls.

The Arcane fleet had target his escorts; Jarlath was not surprised at the development. He had expected that in their desperation the Arcane fleet would try and use hyperspace to their advantage and had used the interdictor cruisers as a warning to their intentions. His orders were promptly followed, the Krynnor fleet itself preparing to do the same action. If the Arcane fleet expected to catch them unawares with some FTL maneuvers, they would be sadly mistaken. It would be a fatal mistake. Irritation blossomed in his mind as warnings arrived to his flagship. The trap that the Arcane and their puppets had laid for them finally manifesting itself; It had been a minefield, a tracking one and only now had it covered the distances necessary to approach the Krynnor fleet.

Electronic counter measures were reluctantly focused away from the Arcane ships and realigned so that it would interfere with the incoming mines. The results were mixed as some mines detonated prematurely, certain that Krynnor vessels were in range while others continued their approach. Of those continued, some managed to make it to the Krynnor lines while others confused by the heavy jamming drifted towards the Arcane formations. Over twenty Krynnor bomber wings suffered damage from the mines, although only eleven were destroyed outright. Three motherships suffered damage due to the mines, although only one of those vessels was damaged enough to fall out of formation.

Jarlath gave the order for the fleet to continue their pounding on the Arcane fleet, ignoring the rending claws of the Nashtar republic for the most part. Although the surving strike craft from 4 fleet carriers and 12 battle carriers was redirected to deal with the incoming Nashtar forces. Once more, Krynnor point defense proved to be effective Jarlath silently thanking the Arcane forces for their lack of missile armaments. One more Mothership fell to a dreadful pounding at the hands of the Nashtar, quickly joined by another and then a duet of Battle Carriers. It was then, that the Arcane fleet acted and by doing so saved the Krynnor fleet from more pain at the hands of the Nashtar.

The interdictors of the fleet had died, and with that realization the Krynnor fleet expected what was to come. When the Arcane fleet disappeared into Hyperspace, the Krynnor fleet prepared to follow using their sensors to good effect once Arcane jamming was no longer and issue. When the Arcane fleet reappeared in real space, the Krynnor fleet was already jumping, reappearing above and below the Arcanes. Their broadside armaments were denied once more, Krynnor fire lashing out at the mages once more.

The Arcane jump to faster than light had also had a secondary effect, the eighteen survivors of the original twenty five troop transports that had been caught in Arcane tractor beams had been freed. Of those eighteen only eight were still fully functional, and these vessels jumped into hyperspace once more remerging near the bottom of the Arcane lines. These ships screamed towards their targets, firing all the while before attempting ramming maneuvers against weakened shields and damaged hulls. Naquadah enhanced reactors adding considerable energy to the already impressive kinetic strikes. The final ten troop transports were damaged and incapable of faster than light, but the Arcane fleet had left them gifts. The damaged vessels that hid beneath their glimmering prismatic shields could not maneuver and would be easy prey.

The troop transports accelerated towards their target, firing against their targets as they approached. The glimmering shields held, but the Krynnor crews were not impressed. Their ships arriving at significant velocity before impacting on the shields; When the explosions had cleared, the prismatic spheres which had been crimson throughout were now a mixture of crimson, orange, and yellow. In his bridge, Jarlath frowned at the information but he had no time to consider its implications. The fleet fought on, super capital ships focusing their fire on Arcane cruisers, now that their escort strength had been diminished. The smaller vessels had proven to be difficult to hit with their guns, and so every Arcane cruiser drew the concentrated fire of three Heavy Motherships or three Fleet Carriers. Krynnor heavy bombers were being bled, but so were the Arcane Forces.

Nonetheless, maneuvers could only do so much and the Arcane fleet recovered admirably from the Krynnor FTL maneuver. Another Heavy Mothership fell prey to Arcane fire, followed by the first of the Fleet Carriers and then five more Motherships. Three more Battle Carriers fell before Jarlath frowned, pressing onwards even as the pendulum of battle began to swing against him. The Nashtar forces were realigning after the FTL jumps of both fleets, and their anger would be great. Furthermore, the UP forces were demanding an increasing amount of small craft as they approached. The Krynnor fighters and bombers were taking tremendous losses…

The rate of a ships roll was always faster than a ship that actually had to cover distance. Such was an axiomatic truth.

The Arcane ships rolled over and poured fire into the enemy heavy vessels, broaedside after broadeside. As they concentrated fire on the escorts, the arcanist concentrated on the Ships of the Line. Keeping the Enemy ships inside their kill zones, they were capable of bringing more of their weapons to bear on a single target than the goa'uld could bring due to differences in weapons coverage.

To counter the fighters, arcane fighters got behind and went to town, firing their disintegration beams into enemy engines. Ripping them apart and intercepting them before they reached the criusers

Escorts were not faring well. They were forced to withdraw under the protection of the capital ships and add their wepapons power to the heavies.

No one even bothered doing anything about unshielded goa'uld ships with their cannon, they took the shields down and let the Massive Turrets do the rest. those things, while they didnt work on shields, were designed to destabilize hulls and cause explosive decompression taking ships out of commission.
