But viruses are affected by ph and salinity also they are more species specific than bacteria. They depend heavily on specific protein receptors and rna sequences. They would be less of a threat than bacteria, often times bacteria kill not by direct damage but by toxins created by their metabolic functions ie bochalism. However bacteria are much more difficult to transmit.

You know, technically your race is amphibious, not aquatic, since you can live on land and in the water.

So how would those of your people who lived on land deal with the lack of saltwater, unless somehow you managed to "evolve" that ability after the advent of civilization. ;)

A simple mutation of a bacterial strain would be enough to cause all sorts of problems

1. True they are amphibious, However when i said aquatic I ment it in the sense that seals, and sea lions are aquatic. I did not want to call them Amphibious and imply that they were akin to amphibians.

2. Salt water is still used, cities are built close to or in salt water and most homes pump salt water in. Also the gills are resistant to changes in salinity similar to salmon's due to the varing environments they inhabit.

They are able to breath water and air, no? Live as well in the water as on solid ground? The appearance of humanoid appendages suggests a long period of dry land evolution...I haven't seen any aquatic animal with anything remotely resembling human limbs, webbed or no. Even Dolphins and whales, which supposedly doubled back into the water, no longer have appendages suited for land-based living (sure, they have some vestigial bone structures, but those are hardly functional), and certainly no opposable thumbs. ;)
2. Salt water is still used, cities are built close to or in salt water and most homes pump salt water in. Also the gills are resistant to changes in salinity similar to salmon's due to the varing environments they inhabit.
That doesn't make any sense. If they naturally evolved to be amphibians, they would not need to be naturally dependant on saltwater, and the concentrations in their bodies would be vastly reduced, unless these are some sort of saltwater muddy mudskippers. ;)

Alas, while I would love to pulverize the Goa'uld fleet right now, it's eleven thirty, which means family guy is on.

Can we do this tomorrow?

(If you want to continue the fight, that's your choice, but please don't make two dozen posts about slaughtering my whole fleet while i'm sleeping)

Fuck that.

If Marco (Or anyone else who want's to take advantage of my need for sleep) tries to pull some sort of 10,000 post "Your Empire is Ow4ned by my 1337 forces and there's nothing you can do.!!!!" Type of crap, Alyrium or Thirdfain has control of my forces (If neither one of them is one, Straha or Stormbringer can do it).

(Please note, if they attack me, then make no other posts and wait for me to reply, this will not be nessecary. Only if they try to make three pages of text about me getting owned.)

Dude, relax....j/k means just kidding. It was a joke. Trust me when I say that nobody intends to rape your fleet while you sleep. It's already been paused once, there's no reason it can't be paused again. :)

And, as a note to all involved, it would probably be best to allow a second party access to your nation should you not be able to post in combat for whatever reason, for everyone involved here.

I call dibs on Marcao :)

Thats probably the closest to what the evolutionary line came from. Earth bound clasifications however dont entierly work they would more than likely be warm blooded and they have live birth and care for their young. but there are also critical diffrences so they are not mammels nor are they fish as we know them. The biggest problem with all clasifications and descriptions is that i'm trying to create an entierly diffren evolutionary line one that is capable of working with land dwelling creaturs as well as in the water. The end result is probably far fetched but still semi-plausable. Other than that it's largly vocabulary diffrences when deciding whether they are more aquatic, amphibious, or terrestrial.

lastly when I said that they are less like amphibians I ment in reffrence to the more permiable skin, water bound reproduction, and exothermic metabolism.

Believe it or not, terrestrial classifications can be quite useful in this regard. After all, take in mind that life on this planet is incredibly diverse, and much of it when first discovered seemed as alien to the people observing it as many alien races would now. However, the problem here is that if it has evolved on land to the point where it is now an upright humanoid, numerous aquatic traits would have been lost, because they were no longer required for survival.

The more plausible solution would be that you never really evolved on land at all, at least not as an entire race. Perhaps a small species did, after the prerequisites for sentience we obtained, while the primary civilization grew underwater somehow, perhaps using telekinesis to make up for the lack of opposable thumbs. While the land-based species, on the other hand, developed into the humanoid creatures you have landed on Earth.

You can make it so one species was dominated by the other at some point in history, and your ships will likely be filled with water instead of air, which should make for some interesting encounters (especially if someone attempts to board one of your ships).
lastly when I said that they are less like amphibians I ment in reffrence to the more permiable skin, water bound reproduction, and exothermic metabolism.
I wasn't referring to nitty-gritty, but rather generalities. :)

Tactical? Who said shit about tactical?

Those were the big boys, my friend. Marcao, if anything will buy us time for the Monacorans to land and reinforce the Ousters in Basra, that'll do it...

-edit- Additionally, it'll kill a LOT of Jaffa....

They won't last long with the Ouster fleet in orbit- and the main landing sites in New Basra will have better ack ack than the dragoons I sent to delay the Jaffa.

-edit- BTW, isn't this the first named character killed so far this STGOD? It's a shame, I sort of liked Frija...

alrightie, I am still going to write about it though. The forces are there, and declared and if you don't want to kill them I will do creatively.

Possibly, also I was planning on having portions of the ships filled with water which could be drained if the need arises. Or at some point long ago the species were close enough that interbreeding somehow occurred producing the one race you now see before you.

on a side note have you studied marine siences because you obviously know what you are talking about.

BTW, Hajr ground forces total 30,000 Army troops, all in light power-armor with vehicle support, aircraft, and artillery, and with some units of Assault power armor, and 10,000 Marine Dragoons, in light power-armor with VTOL gunships and transports (think Air Cavalry- Light infantry, which can be rapidly airlifted to a danger zone, digging in and using spotters to call in fire support.)

There are 10,000 Army troops in Basra and 2,000 marines. This takes into account the 1000 marines killed (well, some survivors, prolly- but not many) slowing down the Jaffa advance.
