They carry a full compelment of other weapons, and it takes ten minutes to charge each fusion cannon shot, so no.

So wait, they can fight effectively as another warship, AND get a 1-shot cruiser-kill every 10 minutes? (make that 3 for your DNs....) I don't think so. Bugsby's lances are 1-shot a fight only, and the cruisers which carry them are lightly defended.

Just so you guys know. That's not the Prince, merely a Private in the Tenth Given the embelem by the Prince as a good luck charm, because in history the guy that got the embelem always survived. (got bored and thought this up one day)

I suppose I could up the chargin time to 35-40 minutes a shot. Both time's that i've used them i've had far more than ten minutes to power them up.

look, if you are going to showhorn in massive, single-shot kill cannons into your warships, you'd take a hit in other catagories- My vessels have very heavy forewards armament and maneuverability/speed, but pay with shielding strength and broadside armament. Similar concessions should be made.

Fine. How about a fifteen minute chargin time, 15% weaker shields and weapons while charging the cannons, and shitty foreward fire arcs?

Keep in mind, there are still the same number of weapons, but they're 15% weaker while i'm charging the cannons. Wich means if my fleet want's to use the cannons constantly, they have to play the hit and run game, because their shields and weapons are less effective while they're trying to power the fusion guns.

OK, here is where we are at. I am thinking about 4 hr into the bombardment/ground campaign. That means that the UP ships which were 3 hrs away should have arrived, and the Nashtar and KSE are just minutes away. Once they arrive, we can start the attack. K?

Alright. I like playing hit an run anyway. It's a trademark i've developed from playing so man SW games as the rebels.

I'm fine with this. The Overseer has shelled every bunker it could scan for, and with it's fleet in atmosphere, it's gotten as close to ensuring 100% fatalities as it can. Earth will NOT emerge from this smelling like roses, though I'm going to leave it up to the players to decide if they lost their head men. I'll put it like this: Chances are good they got hit with a shell. But I won't ram that down your throat if you really like the character.

As a note, my post was made without concern of time. If Nitram destroys all of the bunkers, then I just assume it will be made just prior to the deaths of Jon and Thomas.

If they survive is up to Straha at this point, as they are reliant on his defenses holding to keep them alive.
Edit: Oh well, in light of Nitram's post, I'll talk it over with Straha I guess.

For the record, Alpha Fleet was on manuevers close to Known Space, but I figure Earth is pretty close to the center of it all, and thus would take the most time to get to from pretty much any angle. Unless this battle rages for more than 24 hours, I do not think it will be a factor.

Now, a query: when did this attack happen, exactly?

Second day of the conference- The Ousters first moved against the Krynor around midnight if the Ball, and the large space battle probably took most of the following day. It's probably the night after the Ball.

I would just like to point out, however, that the combat suits that we would wear are filtered and carry an air supply. Gassing wouldn't be as effective as you'd like. Kill civvies, yes. Kill Soldiers, no. Get us mad, no. Get the Nation so pissed so as to kill you, yes.

I had assumed you would be in NBC in time anyways. It's still corrosive as hell; kiss the equipment down there goodbye. That stuff was vented straight from the engine block.

Depends, some are in mountains, some are miles deep some are merely burried superficially.
