What is your favourite Schwarzenegger movie?

Post by Darth Wong »

A partial list:
  1. Conan the Barbarian
  2. The Terminator, T2, or T3
  3. Commando
  4. Predator
  5. The Running Man
  6. Red Heat
  7. Twins
  8. Total Recall
  9. Kindergarten Cop
  10. True Lies
  11. Eraser
There's too many options for a poll so I won't do one, but I'm curious. I think the most high-quality movie out of that list would be T2, but my personal favourite Arnold performance is either Commando (so comically over-the-top!) or Total Recall, which is simply an awesome combination of humour and sci-fi.

Of all of them; Conan the Barbarian(the Crom line as well what is life are great), or Terminator are my personal faves.

Total Recall ranks high as well.

So many choices.

Commando is way up there for its insane brand of action-movie humour; any movie that features both the line 'I let him goooo' and the Freddy Mercury bad guy had it going on :)

Conan The Barbarian. Just way too many good scenes and memorable lines in that movie —especially Conan's prayer to the god he doesn't believe in:

"Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought, and why we died. All that matters is that today, two stood against many. Valour pleases you, so grant me this one request. Grant me revenge! And if you do not listen, then the HELL with you!"
When ballots have fairly and constitutionally decided, there can be no successful appeal back to bullets.
—Abraham Lincoln

People pray so that God won't crush them like bugs.
—Dr. Gregory House

Oil an emergency?! It's about time, Brigadier, that the leaders of this planet of yours realised that to remain dependent upon a mineral slime simply doesn't make sense.

T2 is my favorite of his older movies.
Of the recent stuff I really liked the 6th Day even if it was bad sci fi.
True Lies was pretty good, but I only recently saw that one on cable.

Conan the Barbarian
I liked Conan the Destroyer more, for some reason. It just had funnier lines, though I like both.
The Terminator, T2, or T3
Terminator 2, although this isn't to suggest Terminator 1 was bad or anything. I just thought he acted better in T2. T3 was a piece of shit, but not because Arnie was in it.
Commando
It's been a long time since I saw it. But I remember liking it.
]Predator
I love this film.
The Running Man
Same with Commando, I'll need to watch it again. But I do remember liking it.
Red Heat
Meh.
Twins
Meh.
Total Recall
Meh.
Kindergarten Cop
Heh.
True Lies
Meh. It did have a Harrier in there at some stage, which made things interesting. But I was just bored for most of it so...
Eraser
Never saw it.

From the above list T2 is my favourite. It was something cool to see Arnie get clobbered, shot, empaled, and still get up for more. Conan (either one) is a second favourite, just because he runs around in his undies for the majority of the film without any shame. Oh, and he kills lots of arseholes.

I felt True Lies to be highly underrated.

Why do people seem to find it so bad?

I never gave it a chance at the time. Which was not fair, I "assumed" it would be typical crap but I found that I actually liked it.

Conan the Barbarian. It was the role he was made for- and it had the best beginning ever:

Out of those movies, the only one I've seen is T2, and I haven't even seen it all the way through. So, I guess that one gets my vote!

I find it to be highly overrated - I don't know why people think it's so good.

I've just seen better. And I think the comedy was too overplayed. Rather than being an action film with the occasional gag, it was a comedy with a lot of action. I just didn't like it. I'm not saying it was necessarily a bad film, it just didn't rock my boat.

We obviously need to go to Zaia's house with some DVDs and popcorn for a Schwarzenegger intervention.

Hey, I've never heard of the guy. Why should I watch his movies? :D

You're on, D.W.--next Saturday at 10pm, say?

Never heard of the guy?

Isn't he a crucial part of Western civilisation?

My thoughts exactly.
I love all of Arnold's movies. Lots of action, with funny one-liners :D

Who remembers Raw Deal? :D

Not that I imply I liked it anyway, never actually saw it but heard it was bad even for a B-movie.
