Don't know who all sang it, nor do I care. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaay overplayed when it came out.

"Achy, Breaky Heart" by that country singer comes in a close second for me. I reset a jukebox on purpose in Pizza Hut when I worked their in the early 90's, because the song kept getting played over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again.

Three months of "Soak up the Sun," every 75 minutes, every shift, where some shifts were 10h long, and where I pulled a few double shifts, and worked sometimes 6 days a week. For three months. -hiss-

Oh, and the same deal with Avril Lavigne's "Complicated." -convulses-

I just couldn't believe that someone took a Cub Scout camp fire song and turned it into a pop record! At least the Fast Food Rockers have got lots of practice for their future careers. "Would you like fries with that?"

Back around 1990 that was on all the radio stations all the time. It was in the stores. And of course all the good little baptist girls sang it all the time. It was everywhere for at least six months. It wasn't even cute or catchy in any way at all, like some of the other songs mentioned above. You have to admit, "It's a Small World" is catchy, if annoying. But this song was just this incredibly bland and boring piece of tripe that was repeated over and over and over.
Ugh, I hate that song! I swear, my town's radio station must be run by fundie morons with bad taste in music. The most commonly heard songs on it are this one, pretty much any song found on the "Worship Together" albums, any song by Michael Bolton (funny that a station obsessed with "From a Distance" and "Worship Together" plays so many songs by the Anti-Christ), Phil Collins' most annoying songs, and country versions of pop songs. *pukes* What's worse, their tagline is "Today's hits and yesterday's favorites, 102.3 WRHL!" I don't know about the opinions of the rest of their listeners, but IMHO none of the songs I hear on it fall into either category. That station needs to be razed to the ground, before their taste in music spreads further.

Anyway, my nominations are the "Gotta Look Up" song by the girl who can only sing in an annoying voice, and the "Happy Mother's Day" song by the girl who can't sing at all. Both can be heard (thankfully) only on the Wal-Mart TV Network. They may be only mildly annoying to customers, who usually aren't there long enough to hear it repeatedly, but to cashiers like me, who hear it every ten minutes for eight hours straight, there is almost nothing more annoying.

I liked it the first time I heard it. I listen to the radio alot. After the 12,567th play- I started to get bored. By the time I'd heard it 1,000,546 times, I really hated it !

"The Thong Song." they played that fucking song every. 30. minutes. when it first came out. it drove me insane listening to it every single time i turned on the radio. Oh yes. . .and anything by evanescence. that's been played to death as well.

I don't listen to the radio much, so I really only hear it when I'm out dancin' at the clubs. That and "The Way You Move" are great songs to dance to. :D

But yeah, I hate it when the radio overplays a song until you can't stand it anymore.

Damn, someone beat me to "This is the Song that Never Ends". It gets even worse when sung by several 3-5 year old cousins non stop until you JUST WANT TO THROTTLE THEM ALL TO END THE PAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN!!!!

Wow, sure glad I got THAT out of my system.

Honorable mentions would be "Achey Breaky Heart" and that damned Titantic song by Celine Dion.
Clever and witty signature to be inserted here, just as soon as I think of one.

That song makes me want to tear out my eardrums and use them to poke out my eyes. I still can't believe that song is so popular considering what I've heard of Outkast's previous work.

Anyway, I'd have to say that for me, the most annoying song ever is "Cruisin'" performed by Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis from the lame 2000 karaoke movie Duets. It's like a melodic train wreck.

Clearly you don't go dancing enough. :P
