Boundwoman Subadmiral Quisa su Jhalar pulled herself onto the Heroic Conflict's command deck. The displays were monitoring the approaching Arcanist vessels, and the battle on the planet below had taken second fiddle. Having secured most major objectives, the Hajr troops were digging in as squadrons of fighters returned frrom CAS duty to dock with the orbiting attack carriers.
Quisa looked at her XO. "Liam- any response from the Arcanists?"
"No, Subadmiral. They are maintaining their course."
"Retransmit, all bands. They might have missed the first one."

The Atlantian ambasador returned to the command deck of his carrier after having shown Karsus around the ship. Earth looked terrable compaired to how it had looked just a few hours before, the once beautiful oceans were marred and poisoned. <in atlantian> "Sir a few hours ago we recieved a communication inviting our commanders to a military conference at the andorra palace." a communications officer told him
"What? why dident you tell me this before?" asked the ambasador.
"well you were buisy with the new ones and technically you are not the military Alpha."
"I know full well that I am not but I am the only one who can understand their language." The ambasador said slightly iritated. "Well there is only one thing we can do send a mesage to the alpha we will take a large destroyer to Andorra and attempt to meet with the leaders of the military"
A short while later a Heavy distroyer pulled away from the fleet with the ambasador and the leader of the fleet on board.
The ambasador then sent a mesage to Andorra in English "This is the Atlantian alpha and the ambasador we appologise for the delay and wish to land in Andorroa to join the military confrence"

Andorra, Earth
Standing up Julius Almatov Commanding Admiral of the Monacoran Astral Navy looked over the assembled military presences in the room. Most of the nations had sent some represenitive to the conference, and those that hadn't were most likley delayed. When he positioned himself in the speaker's podium everyone went silent. Clearing his throathe spoke hoarsely.
"Gentlemen, could we have a moment of silence in rememberence of those lost fighting this new menace."
After about thirty seconds he cleared his throat, and started typing into the controls, controlling a holo-projector.
"Let's cut any of the opening crap, we're all military here. To start off I'd like to show you the full data we have of the assault, and a possible solution to one of our main problems. Here is an example of their main weapons, rail guns. These here are laser emplacements, not heavy but not weak either. This is an example of their engines, they appear to be highly efficent, beyond all of our capabilities. This here is an example of the rail-guns in action against our battle-stations. They are very efficent, shielding is unreliable against them due to the momentum pack in every hit, only our ground shielding served as well as we would have hoped. This here is a fine example of their point-defense lasers in action against the Krytosian snub fighters, they are also highly efficent. Now, we've analysed this and we think we've found a somewhat effective counter-measure to their weapons."
He paused for a minute, the Prince had passed a note up to him from the table below. After reading it his eyes widened, handing the note back to the prince he looked up just in time to see Admiral Santiago leaving the room, quietly closing the door behind him. Coughing he continued with his presentation.
"This footage here is from a Pre-Genocide war conflict, it shows Asgard ships surviving combined attacks of multiple fleet ships. This, gentlemen, is called a side-wall. They were quite effective one time at blocking almost all physical attacks a party could use, and we think they could be used effectivley again. You will note that the main weaponry on each of the "Siliconoid" ship is a projectile based rail gun. This means, in other words, that if we were to refit all capable ships with side-walls we would be able to effectively remove a main advantage of the enemy. Before I hand this over to the Army, and then to the Prince to discuss how we will integrate our forces for the coming duration I would like to take any questions you may have, and inform you that as we speak a large five kilometer long war-ship, which just happens to be based on rail-guns is heading towards Earth. We have dispatched two fleets to meet it on its way here, and hopefully ascertain if it is a new power, or the realization of our worst fears. Questions?"

Grand Empire Space
Gladsheim Prime
The halls of the Imperial plaza still held many secrets from Veliam Munei as he walked, his eyes always aware of his surroundings. The people of the Grand Empire were a varied bunch, communicating through the so called “consensus” they behaved in a manner much like that of the Veithans themselves. He and his escorts passed dozens of citizens in his way to meet the Empress and yet no words were heard. It was a silence that he was used to, it reminded him of home. He forced his thoughts beneath the surface of his mind and concentrated on the task at hand. The Empress deserved him at his best, unhindered by random thoughts.
When he arrived at his final destination, the guards that had escorted him did not enter with him. He supposed it was unnecessary, the Empress was quite safe and he expected that slowly but surely, the royal guards were coming to trust him, or so he hoped. Any further thoughts were dispelled when the Empress spoke his name, all of his attention focused upon her. He waited for only a moment before speaking, the words of the Empress and the kindness therein appreciated. “I thank you for your invitation Empress. There is no need for you to apologize over Magdalena, but your words are appreciated nonetheless. It is as you say, a difficulty time for the galaxy at large.”
He noticed the Empress hesitate for a moment, curiousity manifesting upon his stomach. The Empress had always carried herself with a certain grace, a manner that seemed to suggest that she was never caught by surprise. She was always in control, but for a moment that had changed. Her words made everything clear a moment later. He did not hesitate, his lips curling upwards in a mirror of her smile. “We are honored that you and your people would be willing to formalize a relationship in such a manner. I believe I can speak for my people when I say that we would happily accept such a union. Like you, we wish to have dependable allies. Your nation has proven its wisdom many times since we have known you, perhaps together we will be able to protect our interests as much as form a pillar of stability for our corners of the galaxy.”
He paused for a moment, his eyes watching the Empress for a moment as he let his words sink in. It would take time for both nations to coordinate the exact terms of the alliance. Nonetheless, the ties that bound the Veithan and Grand Empires would soon be formalized. It was a thought that filled him with pleasure, his mind silently wishing that Magdalena had been alive to see this.

The encrypted message from the Ravenlock consortium had been received without difficulty and immediately caused a stir of sensation. The consortium was new to the galactic stage, but already it was attempting to directly contact and meet with the government itself. It was a bold maneuver, but the Veithan Empire looked favorably to the consortium and with the twist of events that had led to Earth’s attack the Veithan Empire was interested in what possible allies wished. The information was passed along the proper channels, the Veithan response to the message sent back within an hour of being received.

Monacoran Space

The fifth fleet floated silently in space in its current holding station located between Earth and Mars. The Monacoran military meeting had been noted and a representative was sent. The Veithan shuttle accelerated towards Earth, its hull sculpted in a manner that matched beauty with functionality. The powerful gravity drives of the vessel propelled it at significant speed and within minutes the vessel was entering Earth’s poisoned and wounded biosphere. Monacoran control was alerted of its approach well before it had entered the atmosphere, the designated landing zone acknowledged as the shuttle angled itself towards it. The shuttle landed gracefully in the designated landing zone, nine Veithan representatives disembarking. Eight were an honor escort, marines in light powered-armor donning the ebony and crimson of Veitha. The ninth figure at the center of the formation was Admiral Luthair Stone, commanding officer of the VNS Blood and Fire.
The Veithan escort moved as one and saluted the Monacoran forces awaiting them. Luthair Stone tilted his head, glancing upwards at the angry skies over Earth before glancing towards the Monacoran representatives. “I am Admiral Luthair Stone, I am here representing the naval forces of the Veithan Empire.” The Monacorans nodded, the conference was due to begin at any moment and the Veithan delegation was led towards the location where they needed to be. It did not take long for the Veithan Delegation to reach the conference. It seemed as if they were not the only ones here, the representatives from other star nations noted. With the number of representatives present, it appeared that the force that attacked Earth had perhaps committed a fatal mistake.

The shuttle landed, it was a unarmed UP shuttle, carrying 3 men. Fleet Admiral Andersen, the cheif armsmen and the Lord Protector. They all wore the dull black of UP bodyarmor and NBC masks. They scurried inside as quicky as possible heading for the meeting room. Once inside they removed thier mask.
"Dear God in heaven. It's worst then a nightmare." The Fleet Admiral stated has they moved quickly down the hall.
"Yes it is. You land the teams yet?" The Lord Portector asked.
"Yes Sir, they're mostly in the Indain-Chinese sectors. That's where we were directed mostly."
"Good. Start combing any wreckage still in orbit, maybe we can a computer with some navigation memory. That'll help find these metal bastards..."

The ambasador hastaly translated the Admral's message to the Alpha who listened intently allready trying to decide on a plan for dealing with the incoming ship and it's deadly projectile weapons. He then wistled and clicked a few times to the ambasador.
"Our Alpha wishes to extend our aid to our new allies and would also like to know if a type of reactive armor was ever tested against these rail guns" The ambasador asked.

The Veithan delegation observed the moment of silence without complaint. Although the Veithan losses had been relatively light in the conflict, billions had lost their lives and simply because they had not been Veithan did not mean they were not significant. After the thirty seconds were up, the Monacoran began to speak and the information he readily offered was examined. The information was less than stellar, especially when it came to the efficiency and power of their engines. It granted the enemy the ability to dictate where and when battle would take place, unless interdictors were employed. Veithan shields were capable of resisting powerful kinetic effects and were hardened for that fact. Nonetheless, force screens were more effective on energy weapons than kinetic strikes.
The Monacoran paused and the Veithan delegation took the opportunity to talk amongst themselves. The exchange between Monacorans was noted, but the significance was not known. A minute later, they learned what had been the cause of the exchange. The footage from a time period before the genocide wars arched a few eyebrows but they watched nonetheless. The Asgard navy was relatively well known and respected then and those feelings had not changed a great deal since. When the Monacoran offer was finished, he felt compelled to speak. “I have a question.” He paused for a moment, letting the attention on the room drift towards him if it would before speaking. “Is Monacora offering in depth knowledge as to how the powers in this room may produce and manufacture gravity side-walls? If so, how much time and cost will be involved to retrofit existing vessels with this technology?” It was clear that the Veithan admiral was more than willing to try these new toys. He had no intention of losing personnel if he could help it, nonetheless, Asgard technology was not something he was intimately aware of. Furthermore, since Monacora was not known for her navy, it would be extremely difficult for her to handle the refitting alone. would it not? The Asgard had to be involved in some way shape or form.

Radim sat forward in his chair, shaking his head, “Retrofitting entire fleets with some new technology is going to take time and resources, which we don’t have a whole lot of, with due respect. Meanwhile, while we’re playing catch-up, the bastards that hit Earth can strike at will, hitting targets all across known space, with our ships in spacedock getting retrofitted. Or worse yet, hit us with our pants down. We’re better off just hunting them down as quickly as possible and erasing them from existence,” the Admiral leaned back, releasing a deep breath.

No questions, however the Arcane Empire has a few concerns regarding the fitting of every capitalship with Sidewalls, as that would make most virtually immune to the weapons of not only the empire, but also our allies. Questions?"

"We understand the concerns. We do have detailed plans here to side-walls, the main tactic we were thinking of using was to equip a number of ships with side-walls, and use them to screen the rest of the fleet while we combat the enemy. The sidewall equiped ships would have the utmost time to pound the enemy, and our other ships would benefit from the extra time offered by the shielding..."

It will take a lot of time to engineer this technology to work on our ships... In the meantime, we will have to replace our weapon systems...

The ambasador continued to translate the discussions that floated arround the room to the Alpha, suddenly the alpha stopped him and began to quickly explain tactics to him in a somewhat excited tone. the ambasador stood up and said "Excuse me are we to understand that these side walls you speak of are a type of gravametric sheilding? For if they are we would be willing to offer the aid of our largest ship whose main purpose is to project such a sheild on a rather large scale to defend slower moving craft from enemy broadsides."

"We use a gravimetritric device that projects a curved fravity well that slowes down projectiles coming and speed up our own going out. It would have the basic effect of neutering thier railguns, while making our own projecile weapons far more efficient. More importantly, it covers a 3 dimensional area, and will be very usefull for space combat... Now if you would just let me land... I assure you, Both our species are safe from the others pathogens"

“I still don’t see the benefit. One microjump and the protection offered by the sidewall ships is ignored. It would just give them a ripe, juicy target to hit to do as much damage as possible, and we’re still going to be delayed for however long it’s going to take to refit the railsponges. My opinion is that we do everything in our power to find out where these bastards are and hit them with overwhelming force when we find them. The faster we deal with them, the better. Every day we wait is another day they could attack another world, and we also don’t know what their production capabilities are. If we wait too long to retrofit our own ships, they might have another full fleet build which would nullify any advantage we might have gained from Gravity Sidewalls.

If that is your wish, we have enough individuals from their Gamma site, and from a few of their other worlds to sate the bloodlust of the people. We will take our leave...Thirdfain wrote:<< We mobilized before you did, Arcanists. You might recall that it was the Hajr that started this whole thing. (Gamma Site and Kytan are mine, suffice to say, there are no longer symbiotes on either world, and we will be using Gamma site for strip mining after the hosts are relocated to Kytan)

"We understand your problems with this new system. You must understand that we come from a... slightly different philosophical background regarding Naval combat then you. We understand the need for speed, but we also think that we should be prepared to deal with their superior weaponry if we could. What is this reactive shielding, however?
