Presidential Primaries: Who did you vote for?
Since the primaries and caucuses are all over, I was wondering who here at SD.net voted in the primaries or attended a caucus? If so, who did you vote for. Please state the primary, the candidate for President you voted for , and Who you would like to see the VP.
I voted in the NH Primary in the Republican primaries. I voted for George W. Bush for President and Zell Miller for Vice-President. My mother also voted for George W. Bush but voted for Dick Cheny for VP. My father, an ardent Republican, switched parties and became a democrat. He voted for Al Sharpton.

A meeting of the registered voters of a political party for the purpose of nominating candidates and for choosing delegates to their party convention.
A preliminary election in which the registered voters of a political party nominate candidates for office.
Were there Republican Primaries in Florida?
Well, it doesn't matter, since my card says Democrat. And by the time it got here, everyone else had already dropped except Kerry IIRC. So there was no point.

Actually RI, I don't think there WERE Republican primaries in Florida.... At least, it didn't make the news when I was paying attention.
And I'm under voting age, but I'd probably be registered independent if I was able to. Less junk mail that way.

The Republican Presidential primary was a a forgone conclusion and there aren't enough Republicans in Rhode Island to neccitate a primary for local offices.

There were primaries here in florida, IIRC dean , sharpton and kerry were all on the ticket. I didn't vote because I knew kerry had it in the bag. It was something like 92% for kerry 2 for dean and 1 for sharpton or some ridiculously high number like that, according to NPR that day. I, personally didn't vote.
I'll sure as HELL vote in the general election, though. my vote's gonna be the one to de-throne shrubby!

My problem is I'm a Maryland Republican who wanted to vote for Dean, so I didn't bother going to the polls.
“There are two kinds of people in the world: the kind who think it’s perfectly reasonable to strip-search a 13-year-old girl suspected of bringing ibuprofen to school, and the kind who think those people should be kept as far away from children as possible … Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between drug warriors and child molesters.” - Jacob Sullum
I voted in the Democratic primary this year because of the local races, but I did go ahead and vote for Dean despite Kerry being the winner.

I'll let you know after May 11th, when our Primaries start.
Once again, I'm cursing how the primaries set in February and March left no one but Kerry to vote for, all because the Media swarms and hypes up the results from them. How can you have fair, equal primaries in every state, when 9-10's of the time the Media hype has already elected a 'front-runner' by March and everyone else drops out of the race?!?!
It's not fair that MY vote is forcefully limited by the first three states to have primaries, as well as the Media's feeding frenzy over the candidate's chances before, during, and after those results! Don't I and every other voter have the right to Make Our Own Decision, and not be railroaded into the Media's Chosen Goldenboy?? What gives the MEDIA the right to make those decisions for us? What gives them the right to pick a winner, and Limit My Choices?!? Between February and March, my first choice for Democratic nominee was trashed by the Media and withdrew. Then my second choice dropped out after "Super Tuesday". So I'm stuck with No Frickin' Choice but Kerry for President!! There's not even another Democrat running for nomination in the Primaries any more!
Whatever happened to 'secret ballots'....................... why does the whole world have to know that Iowa voted for this person, and New Hampshire for another.
And why does the typical US citizen sit quietly and let the Media and other states make their choices for them.

Our primary was May 4, but I went ahead and voted for Dean anyway.
Funny thing is that even though the other candidates have withdrawn from the race, they still got about 35% of the vote in my county.
Here, at least, there are some Democrats not at all happy that Kerry got the nod.
I agree with you (LadyTevar) about the timing of the primary elections being a problem.
What we need is a single national primary election day. That way the entire nation will have an effective voice in picking the nominee.

I can't even begin to express how much that pisses me off! The Primaries were declared 'over' by the media months ago... before millions even had a chance to vote. Disgusting. Primaries should be on one fucking day.

Oregon's primary is on May 18th, but as I'm filing by mail (as most Oregonians do), it's already sent. Really, there was literally only one option for the Presidential ballot -- Bush. I'm dissatisfied enough with him at the moment that it was the only part of the ballot I left unfilled, more out of protest than anything else. It's not going to make any difference; the primaries were declared over by the media weeks ago even if I was a Democrat, and Bush, being the only option on the Republican side, is going to get the nomination. Oregon doesn't hold primaries for VP, it would seem, as I didn't see an option for that this time or during the last primary in 2000.

I didn't bother voting in the primaries since the few candidates I cared about were all guaranteed to win anyway and I had work.

I voted for John Fucking Kerry
I didn't want Clark to win the AZ primary, so I went against my principles and didn't vote for Dean. I'll be damned if I ever do that again. I honestly feel dirty having done that.
