So I sold my 944...

Post by Phil Skayhan »

...yesterday on eBay. I really didn't want to get rid of it but when the transmission failed and the cost of fixing it, getting it to Delaware, and insuring a car that I will rarely drive seemed too high when I could use the money for another class this fall.

The upshot is that it sold to a mechanic near Dover, Delaware and we're driving up tomorrow to get it and finalize the sale. Kinda nice to know the car will be in the area and continue to be restored and not parted out.

Maybe I'll get another after I graduate in a few years...a 968 perhaps?

Adieu..

Sadly, there was no time to wash it when I ran up last week to take the pics.

A shame, that's a really good sports car if you can find a decent model. I know someone with a mid-eighties model I think it is, still runs as good as it did when it came off the production line.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how much did it go for? I think 944's are really nice and wouldn't mind my own, since I need to replace my own car soon.

I still miss my Blue 1989NA. It wasn't the fastest, and I got it with bad paint before I truly comprehended the cost of a decent paint job, but it was fun to drive.

It sold for $810, which is a fair price considering that the transmission and the timing belt needs to be replaced along with a power steering fluid leak. There is also the condition of the interior which is far from pristine.

You can find a good 944 for around $5k on eBay and some like mine for less than $2k. Turbos in good condition will run around $7k

As LP said, these cars may not be the fastest, but they are really fun to drive; especially in the S-curves as a Mustang that once tried to tailgate me found out much to his chagrin :D

Sorry you had to sell your 944. Personally, I'd like to have a 911 someday...

There are two 911s I'd really like. A 1972(or 3) 911s. And a 1977 911 turbo.
