CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A video posted Tuesday on an Islamic militant Web site appeared to show a group affiliated with al-Qaida beheading an American in Iraq, saying the death was revenge for the prisoner-abuse scandal.
The video showed five men wearing headscarves and black ski masks, standing over a bound man in an orange jumpsuit who identified himself as an American from Philadelphia.
After reading a statement, the men were seen pulling the man to his side and cutting off his head with a large knife. They then held the head out before the camera.
Well Here it comes.... Its going to be a long hot summer..
Sudden power is apt to be insolent, sudden liberty saucy; that behaves best which has grown gradually.

Well they call those assholes for terrorist for a reason you know.
But if you want us to hold terrorist to the same standards as Americans then perhaps we should call Americans for terrorists?
Doubble standards my ass, those are fundamentalist asshole terrorists.

Yeah, it sure is awfull that people expect better from the U.S. then they do from a bunch of terrorists.
We all knew it was coming, boys. No surprises here. It's terrible, yes...
I still feel sick.
and this is precisely why I advocate either pulling out (Not bloody fucking likely) or extreme violence of action. (That's the military man in me, we're taught kill kill kill in wartime) It has been clear to me for some time now that the only (read: ONLY) thing the insurgents/terrorists respond to is the latter. like the hydra, we must continue to remove heads (Figuratively) of the organizations or else this will continue. eventually, they'll get tired of their "Martyrdom". Must we always take the moral high ground? Yes. we must. But there is nothing saying we cannot maintain an iron grip in the interest of our troops' security until we finally do leave. Keep in mind, I'm not advocating murder (especially of civilians), or torture, but goddammit, we have got to show that if you fire on us from a mosque, that mosque is fucking gone. Game over. Maybe one day, the mullahs will get the picture, and not let the insurgents take up residence. Holy sites? Fuck em, the second you use holy sites for bunkers, they become just that-Bunkers. subject to quick Mk84ing. I mean, fuck, when will the civilian population get the picture, too? You harbor insurgents, you're bringing the war into your house! Gawd, now I've gone and forgotten my point. Fuck.

They aren't showing the worst torture photos, so I doubt they'll show all of the video. Is this another bullshit accusation of a double standard?
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
Thank you Bush and Co. for creating a situation in Iraq that did not exist beforehand, and making pre-existing conditions worse.
Good thinking, inflaming hatred that already existed, placing abusive incompetents in command of Hussein's most notorious torture mill, and neglecting Pakistan and Afghanistan. Such genius!
Hopefully, the fellow made every opportunity to escape, vice depending upon the good graces of his captors. The lesson for those who are kidnapped is to attempt escape at every opportunity or face a grizzly death as a public spectacle.

Al Qaeda don't profess to be a model of freedom, democracy, and good will. Nobody expects better.
The US does, don't be outraged when people call you on it.
I've seen the entire thing. It was even worse than the video of the russian/cheche(?) having his throat opened. The man didn't try to escape.

But one begins to wonder if "freedom, democracy, and good will" should apply in cases when our soldiers are dealing with individuals who would hack off the head of one of our citizens. Or should we deal with them with overwhelming shock, force and violence?

My personal view is that overwhelming force should be used on the militants in Iraq. They're stirring up shit, let them suffer for it. If they were to just go away Iraq might actually have been a decent place by now.
Obviously blasting the shit out of them is not an entirely viable solution if we want to hope for any stability in Iraq, nor is it good for public relations.
