It's no different than Limbaugh and Hannity saying that torture and beatings of Iraqi prisoners is acceptable.

Mind you, that in no way changes the fact that they should bomb Al-Sadr out of existence. I just think they should do the same to Limbaugh and Hannity.

You know, a line from 'Rule Britannia' just burned in my head. This could be very painful... For the Shiites. I daresay the reaction to a Briton being made a slave would not be nice.

About the only one I ever hear anyone actually belt out, as opposed to humming. 'Britons never shall be slaves'. Dunno why it resonanted.

Then again, if memory serves, the people the UK deployed are vets of Northern Ireland. They seem to be carrying the right level of professionalism for them to be.

I dont think the cleric is serious. Keeping females as slaves isnt Islamic in my opinion. Besides if they do it the coalition would go bersek.

Seriously I seriously wish that other Muslim clerics or religious leaders would speak out against this and try to actually solve this themselves but hey I don't try and kick Falwell in the balls when he makes stupid statements so who am I to say anything.

That’s about the only bit of the song most people know, you’ll have to google it if you really need the rest.

Unfortunately the song has already been proven a little over optimistic as many British POWs were effectively slaves to the Japanese during WWII.
