What would happen if the auto pilot was disengaged? pilots I expect trained for that no?

Could it brake 4.0 in a dive?

I think we're going way off the topic here. Sure three wheels attached to a rocket engine will go fast...but thats not the point.

Im a bit of a car idealist, naturalist and classic sport cars are my hobby (especially Italian).

In my opinion no american sports car can stand up to european cars. Raw power isnt everything - and Im not a fan of 1/4mile races. Go straight, shift gears, then brake. Boooring. Sure it requires some skill (especially on the cars with strong engines), but it's still a walk in the park compared to rally/race driving. I drive a 1984 Alfasud Sprint 1.7QV boxer engine - built the engine myself with two twin Dellorto 40DRLA carbs. Produces around 125bhp (at wheels) - and I must say there arent many cars which are more pleasurable to drive (even tho its an FWD car). And it holds on to tarmac like glued, once almost some Mercedes crashed during a turn trying to hold onto me...

So if you ask me what is my dream car...I already have one of my dream cars - the Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint QV.

For the dreams that will be a bit more tricky to fullfill - Lancia Stratos, Lancia 037, Ford Escort RS2000, Fiat 131 Abarth Rally (especially the 035 Volumetrico Competizione). The "normal stuff" include Aston Martin DB6, Volante, Porsche 911 3.6 Twin Turbo (or the first 3.6l 911 Turbo from the 70's).

Sure I'd like to have a Dodge Viper - who wouldn't? It's just that almost everyone before me discussed the idea of HOW FAST something can go. For me it's not really important how fast - more important is the acceleration, handling and braking.

Y'know, even if I had all that cash to spend and even after looking at a nice, brand new Bentley sportscar the otherday that hummed like... a... car... well, I'd still want to go with the car I really want right now. A brand new Audi A4 Quattro convertible. Damn, but do I love those and the new 5 and 6-series Bimmers.

A highly modified MiG-25 already exists, the Ye-266, later upgraded as the Ye-266M. With it the Soviets took a number of world speed and time to altitude records in the 1970's. Doing so really embraced the drag racing sprit as the engines were generally destroyed in flight with the gliding back to base. The US BTW, competed fiercely against this plane with a modified F-15 called the Streak Eagle and there was a lot of controversy of whether or not all the Soviets claims were ligament, it was suspected that they must have used rocket boost for some of the records.

The B-70 and SR-71 both could have been made better with new engines, but only to the tune of mach 3.5 at 80,000 feet. Going beyond that, even with a multi decade leap forward in technology really isn't possibul.

More realistically we could strap a pod with a chimp to NASA's scramjet prototype.

Thats what the meter says(doesn't really matter on these cars), but this is not a... Toyota...

Mine is a 5.7l V8 with electronic fuel injection that gives out 250HP's, not a ... toyota....

My camaro is electronically limited to 150mph, as are most GM car I believe but I don't know what year they started doing that as mine is relatively new. (99 Camaro SS, LS1 5.7L 320HP)

Most TBI powered thirdgen camaro's are speed limited, but not at 150, it was 115.
My 1991 Firebird GTA uses TPI and has no limiter.
