SDNet Words of Wisdom

Post by RogueIce »

What odd, amusing, yet still useful words of wisdom have you picked up from the posters here, that apply to you somehow?

The first little gem I can think of is this:
Darth Wong wrote:Or just allow the lawn to be overrun with weeds. The suburban mystique attached to the never-ending battle of sustaining the grass monoculture is irritating to me.
From Venting XXV, at the start of the whole grass discussion.

Mostly because I hate, really hate, mowing my lawn. So I wish that more people, like my parents, would heed this advice. It would make life so much easier. :D

So, what other gems have you all taken from this place?

Actually, that phrase has been around SD.net almost since the begining of the board. After some research, it appears it was first muttered by Mr. B in this thread.

Wow.

Does this Mr. B know of the legacy he left?

I would not consider him the starter of the legacy. I've said that phrase many times never knowing about his saying it. In fact, I did the search because I thought I was the first to say it. It really is more a tribute to the writers of Family Guy that anything else.

EDIT: Upon further inspection, it appears I was second to say it. Woohoo.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

"Because You Touch Yourself at Night" came from Family Guy IIRC.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

We can add this corollary;

I should be offended by those thread hijacks discussing the origin of "because you touch yourself at night" and the whole "b00bies" thing, but that would be rather ironic, wouldn't it?

That's 'b00bees,' with two 'e's, by the way. :P

And... well... just... blame her. And that infernal thread in the BotM that spawned it. Which was also partly her fault, IIRC. :P

How can I complain about someone for hijacking a thread? That's like Spanky complaining that someone changes their avatar too much.
