British abuse pictures fake - Official government line.

The Armed Forces minister has denied that the pictures of British soldiers abusing Iraqi prisioners were genuine. He stated that the truck used was never even in Iraq.

Lets hope that the Mirror editor is arrested and charged for publishing his lies, Let's also hope that the dicks who have been slamming the good reputation of our military now shut the fuck up [expecting an apology is perhaps too much].

Even if these images are fake, which I do believe, I doubt that this kind of thing isn't being done by our own soldiers, so it's not exusing them.

The Mirror is the most pathetic newspaper in the country though (on the basis that the Star/Sport/Sun aren't actually newspapers

There are possibilities of suing and I suspect the soldiers who handed over the photos will be chucked out the army faster than shit off a shovel, and yay this is post 150.

Are you fucking kidding? Pro-labour or not, those fake photoes have stirred up quite a shit storm! They've been stuck on banners in demonstrations and put on desecrated soldiers graves. Do you think some nutjob fundamentalist will think they're fake so that they can't be used in "retaliation" like the US torture photoes were?

If the government lets this slide then they are fucking imbeciles, and i mean that more than normal!

If the government goes after the Mirror over this not only will they get flak for trying to control the media (first the BBC now the Mirror) but they will also alienate an ally they will need in just under a year. Beyond that the government also has to realise that all the Mirror did was get duped into believing those photographs were real, that is worth a slap on the wrist at best.

A similar thing happened in the U.S. - a week or so ago, the Boston Globe, which is generally speaking a more credible paper than the Mirror, ran pictures of American soldiers supposedly raping Iraqi women with virtually no research into their authenticity, and they turned out to be pictures from a porno website of a simulated rape.
