Nintendo DS vs. Sony PSP: FIGHT!

Let's hope the DS doesn't have the inexcusably shitty sound processing the GBA had.
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

That was one reason I never bought one.Hamel wrote:Let's hope the DS doesn't have the inexcusably shitty sound processing the GBA had.
That and I knew Ninty would bring a better version out a month after my purchase so I gave up. Anything to challenge their monopoly here would be fun and the PSP may just be it given the Game Gear and Lynx failures despite being superior.

Unless a game used compressed audio samples/streams, music sounded like the bastard child of the gameboy and snes. It used fucking square and triangle waves just like the pre-'90 systemsSpanky The Dolphin wrote:Yeah, with headphones, the sound on the GBA is actually halfway decent.

Why not? The same hardware used to play games could also be used for playing movies or music, so why not leave that ability in instead of cripling the system for no good reason by restricting it to games only?Ace Pace wrote:My bad, watching GS live, it seems some games running, I don't remember names. But why music\video\games? Why are they going the bloated N-gage way?

Not a chance. The thing will be $300 on the high side and $200 on the low side. Sony has said as much.Daltonator wrote: The MSRP on that fucking thing will probably be around $400-$500.
However, given the new competition (and given that Sony said they would make a profit on the PSP at $300) I would say that the PSP will probably debut at $200-$250 with sharp price cuts as needed. Sony isn't afraid to dump this thing to compete with Nintendo, they wrote the rules on how to sell hardware at a loss remember?
