Doesn't the UK have criminal liability for journalists who falsify news like this?

In any case, good show, and this sends a good message. Still, I think the damage has been done and Tony Blair will be lucky as hell to keep his place as the Labor Party candidate.

Wouldn't the defence be that he had no idea they were false? I mean, if the Mirror were going to conciously fake evidence they'd at least put some effort into it. Likely it's just a bunch of amoral jerks looking to make a buck selling crappy photos to the tabloids.

Regardless, I can't say I'm sorry to see him go. Morgan was an idiot and deserved what he got.

I only wish this was The Daily Mail instead. I'd like to see that rag ripped to pieces.

Who wouldn't? Personally I'd prefer seeing the Sun taken down a peg or two, although a scandal probably wouldn't accomplish that since even it's readers realise the Sun is basically populist trash, non-stories and porn. Perhaps someone could assassinate Murdoch or something?

Nothing can harm The Sun. Given what they publish, fake photos of soldiers wouldn't even make the first dozen pages.

I'm of the mind the former editor did the right thing in resigning. And he seemed honestly sorry about the whole thing. The pictures in question seemed real enough, but it appears the proper research was not put into producing adequate fakes.
