New Toy!
After months of labouring under the weight of two PCs that just don't wanna work right (and one that's a P166 anyway, and dog slow even if it is doing it's thing), finally I have a system worth taking on the net.
And it's a lovely, shiny, 1.33GHz G4 Powerbook.
And it's sexier than your PCs. All of them.
Moo Hoo Haa Haa!

Bah, your puny assaults on the Gaming front are easily defeated by my vast array of consoles.
Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and N64, with the option of a Megadrive as well, should I desire it, all hooked up to a 32" widescreen TV and a 5.1 sound system pushing 100W down each channel (and with room for a 6th speaker, when I buy another one).
You go ahead and develop RSI playing on your PCs, all hunched up over an overblown office tool in a darkened room, I'll be chilling on the sofa with a Beer and Halo. On Legendary.

Why should I pay a ton of $$$ for a box that does nothing but play games, then an even larger sum of $$$ to buy a computer that's more expensive for what it offers?Vendetta wrote:Bah, your puny assaults on the Gaming front are easily defeated by my vast array of consoles.

I can play most of the cool games on my computer, no special gamebox required. Oh, and no need for an optional hard drive to save games to - i've already got a big one. Hell, if I wanted to go your way and have a separate gamebox, i'd just buy an old PC, install Linux and OpenOffice, and use that for work for a lot less dough, and get some kewl gamebox for fun.

The cost argument for gaming PCs is pathetic. A console system costs less than a fucking graphics card. Even a mid range graphics card will set you back the same as a console, and then you'll be hampered by the fact that your choice of titles on the PC is shit, even when my gaming rig was working I wasn't buying any games for it, because all the games on the PC are all the fucking same, they're all either FPS or RTS, and the only difference is in the graphics and the precise 'bang' noises your guns make, and one (count it) driving game that's starting to show its age now (Geoff Crammond's excellent F1 games).
I'd rather have more choice than the latest iteration of Doom or C&C thanks.

There can be lots of games for the PC*. You just aren't looking hard enough. Besides, does the console have Homeworld?Vendetta wrote:The cost argument for gaming PCs is pathetic. Besides, not everyone likes sports games (including driving/racing), or RPGs (I hate RPGs... leveling up is obnoxious..., and I like interactive fiction/text adventures(you can play those on anything BUT a game console).
*Note that I don't play any modern PC games, due to having a dated 5yr old computer, plus I'm sure there are many games for the Mac, like C&C, Doom3, etc (which is good, since if the developer is willing to port to Mac, they might as well port to Linux).
