You don't see many "Josephs" or "Joes" these days either. Guess we're a dying breed.

I remember when Michael used to be number on that list. Along with names like Jennifer. I must know atleast 3 Jennifers in my grade, and heard of 2 more, gah!

I'm just waiting for the rule of video game character inspired names. Someone already named their daughter "Rinoa"... now we just need Link and Samus

Robs are even more of a dying breed in America. No one names their kid Robert anymore. My dad also happens to be a Rob, and he's pissed off about it.

Most of those names are fine (I myself love the name Aidan). It all really depends on the last name they get paired with anyway. *shrugs*

Hah, I knew 6 Jennifers growing up. Also knew 4 Jeffs, 3 Brians.

Know a name you don't see anymore? Kevin. Such a strong name. Can't go wrong with that one. Ah yes, what a very good name.

I knew an Amber once. She was an actress for my show a couple years back. Of course, she was smokin' hot.

Out of four classes I had this semester, there were seven Joseph variants. My English Comp class had "The Three Joes". I suppose the name peaked in the early 80s. Probably due to Reaganomics, or something. :D

Personally, I think Emma is an awesome girls name, especially since my favorite cousin is an Emma. Also, I think there aren't enough Annas out there. I've heard some weird girls names recently, like some people I was introduced to once who had named their baby girl "Chastity". Isn't that like asking her to become a porn star?

Hey hey! My name is David ok. I love the name, but I know about 8 kids in my school that have it, there are probably 3 more I don't know about, then there are like, 3-4 at my church, 2 in my singing group, and 1 I know from a party that I used to be friends with. That's like... 15 Davids I know.

That reminds me of a joke I heard a black comedian say a few years ago. (Paraphrased)

"Ok, black folks, what's with all the crazy names? Nobody gets them, the white folk at parties are going 'Ok, so the one's name is... Chiquita, and the other is... Chandalier?' "

Speaking of Chiquita I have recently discovered that there is indeed a kid named Chiquita in my school, and I almost feel pity for the poor girl.

I know so many Joe's/Joey's it's not even funny. There's like a million of them down here!!

I also know someone who's first name is Franklin. That's a classic, definitely. Rare you find a Franklin.

I don't mind Olivia.

I actually don't mind Emily either, but that might be because it reminds me of a very cute innocent looking blonde who was at Highschool with me :P

though I must admit most of my favourite girls names wern't on that list... but then, most of my favourite girls names are my favourite because either I had a crush on a girl with that same name, or because the name is quite rare.

Candidates include
Melanie
Renee
Jacinda
Elise
Lyndall

Superman wrote:Speaking of stupid names, I remember some people at dad's church who had twin girls. They named one of them "Ester" (sp) and all I could think of is that she must have been the youngest girl on the planet with that name.

Esther is an Old Testament derrivative of Ishtar a goddess from a completely different religion. :D My Great Grandmother was named Esther and other than when it's a family name I don't know anyone who would name their kids Esther.

Im surprised Skyler wasnt on the list. I have seen a lot of "Skylers" recently. Thats not a normal name. Thats a name soap opera stars name their kids.

And Abigail, every ghost story I have ever heard has involved a ghost named Abigail!

Superman wrote: 1. Emily- dreadful name. Kids in school will call her M&M's.
2. Emma- see above.
3. Madison- shoot the idiot who names his daughter "Madison." Some names should reserved for streets only.
4. Hannah- Biblical name. Doesn't impress me either way.
5. Hailey- "Open hailey frequencies." Another name is really hate. Don't name your daughter this atrocity.
6. Sarah- I can't count the number of flight attendants I've met named Sarah.
7. Kaitlyn- More shit.
8. Isabella- Huh?
9. Olivia- Olivia Newton John. Olive Oil... Not a great track record here.
10. Abigail- Abi-normal. More crap.
Only ones there I didn't really care for where Hailey, Isabella, Olivia and Abigail.
I like Sarah and Hannah, also Maria is a nice name.

Anyone ever see George Carlin's bit about names?

"Whatever happened to real names, like Nicky, Vinny or Tony? I'll tell you what happened. Tucker, Kyle and Todd. These are weak names, and weak names make for weak people. I'll bet you that ten times out of ten on the school playground, Nicky, Vinny and Tony will beat the shit out of Tucker, Kyle and Todd."
