You know, I've heard this shit over and over again as if it were some kind of advertising slogan. What we did was not as bad as what they did, so it's OK. Or The Iraqis did such and such, therefore it is OK if we do such and such also. Try to get this through that peanut you call a brain, if everything the Iraqis did was OK, then there would have never been a war to begin with. They would have invaded Kuwaitt and Saudi in the 90s and we wouldn't have given a shit. Hell, we would have invited Saddam to become dictator of America. We'd send over Air Force One to pick him up and bring him to his new home in DC. His two sons could be president and prime minister of Mexico and Canada. Wouldn't that be nice, cause as we all know, Iraqis can do no evil.

Oh but for people like ArchMage, who can't talk to girls without popping a stock in their pants and embarrassing themselves, any sex would be acceptable. So naturally, they extend such desperation to others and think that these prisoners should be grateful for the sex they got.

Hey fuckwit, if you've followed the news at all, there are eyewitness statements about Iraqi women being raped by American soldiers in the prison in addition to the abuses against the male prisoners.

Furthermore, somethjing that I haven't seen brought up yet is that because of the fucked up patriarchal culture over there, women who are so much as suspected of being raped will be in danger of being murdered by their families and relatives in order to "preserve" the "honor" of the family (because over there rape is regarded as being the victim's fault) and the danger is especially great for women who belong to powerful tribes or prominent families.

There was a good article on this in Helsingin Sanomat (the main daily newspaper here) a couple of days ago and apparently the woman prisoners visited by Red Cross were so upset that most of them couldn't even talk but just cried, though one of them who didn't care what happened to her told RC that they had been raped. Most of the women were wives or other family members of prominent prisoners and brought in so the men could be pressured to giving more infomation, but whatever happens, the consequences to the women are going to be shitty in the extreme, innocent or not.
