Hey fuckwit, if you've followed the news at all, there are eyewitness statements about Iraqi women being raped by American soldiers in the prison in addition to the abuses against the male prisoners.
Furthermore, somethjing that I haven't seen brought up yet is that because of the fucked up patriarchal culture over there, women who are so much as
suspected of being raped will be in danger of being murdered by their families and relatives in order to "preserve" the "honor" of the family (because over there rape is regarded as being the victim's fault) and the danger is especially great for women who belong to powerful tribes or prominent families.
There was a good article on this in Helsingin Sanomat (the main daily newspaper here) a couple of days ago and apparently the woman prisoners visited by Red Cross were so upset that most of them couldn't even talk but just cried, though one of them who didn't care what happened to her told RC that they had been raped. Most of the women were wives or other family members of prominent prisoners and brought in so the men could be pressured to giving more infomation, but whatever happens, the consequences to the women are going to be shitty in the extreme, innocent or not.
