Hey, someone is actively trying to fuck the US over repeatedly. Maybe al-Qaeda infiltrated somewhere, because I'm amazed there's more of this shit.

I'm sure they'll find some other stuff and I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't some sort of conduct unbecoming type of charges.

Did you guys notice something odd about those photos? I did. This is my MP thinking coming out, right? Cause I'm smarter than pretty much everyone on the planet.

Nearly all of those photos which *feature* a soldier in them, show their hands in exactly the same pose. One hand with index finger up, the other with a "Thumbs up". Why is this odd? It says to me that there may have been some kind of SOP set forth dictating a sort of "Standard" pose for the soldiers. What I'm saying is that the whole "Military intelligence said we should..." or "I was ordered to..." May be more than just deflection. now, I'm certainly not downplaying the significance of any of them, the poor guy with the dogs areound him make me want to vomit, but I think this is more, much more, than just a few MP's taking our frustrations on prisoners.

There have been reports of this kind of treatment going on at Gitmo and in Afganistan on the 'Ok' of Rummy.

Do the guys in the photos have any personal reasons to be angry with the Iraqis?

What I mean is have they previously spent time patrolling the streets being shot at, seeing their mates get shot and so forth? If so the abuse is more understandable.

Ever heard of 'monkey see, monkey do'? My guess is that they all took turns in getting their 'happy snaps', and they just copied each other's poses.

The fact that they would be stupid enough to actually take pictures of themselves, speaks a lot of their mental and moral fibre in my opinion.

that is not a new phenomenon. it's hard to draw the line between 'some guy that is my enemy and who was shooting at my buddies last week' and 'some guy who is now a prisoner and i am respnsible for him'. To be in that position is very difficult.

The guy in the body bag is supposed to be dead according to the article so while the photos are tasteless and disrespectful (what? tasteless and disrepect in the military? :) ) at least they aren't abusing anyone.

Also, from the caption the chick in the photo is already facing charges for abusing prisoners. It's not going to help her case having that smiling photo of her with the guy who died in the prison she was working at.

Besides that, I think all they had on him was that he pushed one of the naked hooded prisoners into the human pile. So for that and failing to stop further abuse he gets a year in prison and his life basically ruined. Plus to get only that he had to rat out his fellow soldiers, which should make him real popular with everyone in the federal pen.

They can't charge them for murder until they're sure who did it.

Someone will sing. There's no way all these assholes will keep quiet from the media and whomever else.

Point. Tsyroc is right. There is a reason Leavenworth is one of the prettiest prisons you'll ever see. jail in the military is no joke. there's none of this "Free Time" shit you get in the civilian world. It's hell. Constant work, and this guy, when he's alone, if they ever allow him to remain alone while in prison is going to get fucked over. There's not going to be too many worthless shitbags in a military prison who don't know how to beat someone's ass. So it's at least one year of hell on earth, and the rest of his life scraping for the crumbs society drops through the cracks. Every single one of these soldiers convicted are (At least right now) completely and utterly fucked.

The only way they will get anywhere MIGHT be through writing books on their experience. Everyone will bill it as "Controversial" and "Scandalous" and a bunch of other Media Buzzwords. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that, right now, they are all scrambling to be the first to publish something. there's going to be alot of finger pointing on this one.

As for monkey-see, monkey-do. I gotcha, I just don't get that feeling. Those pics look staged. Not so much staged, but too standardized. time will tell, as it's pure conjecture at this point.

Completely Fucked.
