In Australia, there will be no escape from watching Ian Thorpe mosey through the water.

That's probably all I'll see.

I would watch the cool sports like fencing or some martial art, except for the fact channel 7 NEVER FUCKING BROADCASTS IT!

Like Gandalf said, we'll probably get 24 hour coverage on Ian Thorpe's activites.

That's right, all we'll see is the pool, over and over again. But yes, I will be tuning in to watch it!

I know this is mean, but am I the only one hoping Ian Thorpe fucks up?

It's kind of because of the Craig Stevens thing. I just want to see him get a kick in his complacency.

In the US the Olympics are being carried by the same network that has fubared the last 10 years of games. I'll probably see a few thing here and there but I just can't stand how the network shows the Olympics. Some of the reporting is so ridiculously biased that it is both sickening and embarassing.

I'm kind of interested in seeing the opening and closing ceremonies because they are in Athens this year. Actually the Olympics in Athens is much more interesting than the Olympics.

every country is going to bias the reporting towards their own team, thats perfectly understandable. My problem with NBC is the fucking Lifetime-ification of every athlete's personal story of 'triumph over adversity'. That and the ludicris ammount of time devoted to women's gymnastics. god i hate that almost as much as figure skating.

Not at all. My understanding is that he fucked up for the trials; ergo he SHOULDN'T EVEN BE THERE.
It's kind of because of the Craig Stevens thing. I just want to see him get a kick in his complacency.
I still don't understand how he got passed that.

Thank Zeus I'm not the only one thinking that.

I would have thought it would go to the guy who came 3rd. Thankfully it's Thorpey, he could probably kill Stevens in front of 50,000 people and get rousing applause. Then Channel 7 would give him $100,000 for the TV rights. Soon after he's deemed a national hero.

Showing or featuring what the home audience wants to see if fine by me it's the after event interviews that piss me off. It's the Olympics, but ass clowns like Jim Grey will ask all kinds of insinuating questions about steriods and blood doping when the winner of an event is from another country, but he'll softball American winners even when they deserve to be questioned (Marion Jones for example). It doesn't matter to me that in somce instances the people he was hardballing ended up getting popped later on I just feel that kind of reporting kills the spirit of the Olympics. It certainly kills the fun for me.

I don't think they should report on any of those types or ask obnoxious questions unless the people have actually popped positive in the past or got nailed on a test at the Olympics.

As for what you mentioned, the Bob Costos shoft focus "special" story about insert athlete name here are rather annoying.

They do spend too much time on girls gymnastics. (Very few of them are actually old enough to really be considered women.)

What is wrong with that? I mean, women's gymnastics has thin, usually attractive ladies going around so that you can see their whole bodies. More or less the same wih women's figure skating. And the garments are shockingly thin.

Aren't there concerns with the facilities not being done on time?

Anyway, I'm probably not going to watch it besides the occasional tuning in to watch one of the bigger events, as I can just find out the results later, as I seem to do with most sporting events.

*shakes his head* If you are done thinking with your dick?

Girls gymnastics (I agree, they ARE girls) is an interesting sport as long as we're talking about the stuff where they do the crazy spinning on the bars and the events like that. The dancing is boring. I do plan on watching the Olympics some because the events are erally great. Winter Olympics seem cooler (Ha ha, cooler) than the Summer.

Why, so I can watch one minute of the actual Olympics for every two minutes of commercials and stupid fluff bullshit? Fuck that.

I'll watch highlights and stuff but it allways makes me feel lazy to sit and watch other people play sports.

I'll attempt to watch it, but as I've done with every other Olympics I'll quit after I get pissed off that they have to show the life story of Americans after which they're shown standing on the podium all teary eyed as the Star Spangled Banner is shown EVERY STINKING TIME an American gets a gold medal. Look, it's alright a couple times, but I don't give a damn about the American gold medalist in something silly like speed-walking getting teary eyed and I don't care what their life stories are when there are actual sports going on that I might want to watch.

Like men's gymnastics. A lot of those guys are hotties, and unlike girl's gymnastics, they're actually of legal age. :D

If I can get a schedule of events, and am bored enough, I might tune in to specific things. But for the most part, I'll avoid it like the plague. It's great that we have these games and all, but the outcome of them really doesn't matter to me. :?

I have to agree. The networks have done a crappy job of covering the Olympics for a long time now. I remember the almost constant coverage of the 1984 Olympics and it was cool cause you got to see everything.
I'll probably watching opening/closing and a few select events. I hope they show some badminton but I doubt it.
