Some on the right would label most forms of welfare and assistance as socialism.
Why aren't these same people holding the same attitude for money going to Israel and Arab states? Where is the conservative outrage over National Health Care for Iraq, when the United States has its own problems in that area? Can anyone explain to me how waging this war, originally over claims that have since been proven to be exaggerated or outright false, is not a form of welfare? Furthermore, why are middle eastern states continuing to receive our tax dollars when they have a history of squandering and wasting the money? Is it ok to throw money into the black hole known as the middle east, but it is NOT ok to give money to American single mothers and people who would otherwise be ripped off by HMOs?
... or am I playing the same word games the right has been playing in regards to health care and gov't assistance?

A socialist attitude towards the middle east?
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."
