Berg Killers possibly caught.....

Two held in Berg beheading case

Coalition forces detained four; released two after questioning

(CNN) -- Coalition forces apprehended four people in connection with the beheading of U.S. businessman Nicholas Berg, a military coalition official said Friday, but have since released two of them.

The senior official said the two remaining might be released after more questioning. He provided no further details.

An Iraqi security official said the four men who decapitated Berg and videotaped it were members of Saddam Hussein's Fedayeen paramilitary organization, according to The Associated Press.

The AP reported the official believes the men were led by a nephew of Saddam Hussein, Yasser al-Sabawi. The nephew was not among those arrested, the official told the AP.

Berg was arrested by Iraqi police on March 24 and was in custody until April 6. He disappeared on April 10.

Reports conflict on what or who held him in custody -- relatives of Berg's believe it was the United States military but the Pentagon refutes that. (Full story)

The video of Berg's decapitation was posted on a Web site linked to al Qaeda on May 11.

Well, they were bound to catch someone for Nick Berg's death. Hopefully, these guys actually did it. If so, they can swing a foot off the ground.

How the hell are they supposed to prove that these men did it? There faces were covered in the video, and it was of poor quality. So unless someone rats them out or they confess I don't see too much happening to them.

Well Yanks have ways to make people talk.

Ref: Abu Ghraib

I mean why find the guys that did it when you can pick up anyone on the street and beat him to confess.

Anyting From USA regarding Iraq is suspect IMO.

Give me a fucking break.

Now, when the entire thing has been plastered across every venue imaginable, you suggest we'd nab someone, beat them into confessing to decapitating Berg?

Why? One, the U.S. public is too stupid to really get that much of a reaction out of capturing Berg's murderers, two, what satisfaction is the military/administration going to get personally from nabbing a fradulent suspect, and three, what evidence do you have that we've committed fraud like this in the past, and would do so again in light of severe abuses?

The risk is extreme and the benefit is very nebulous.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. You're just being a kneejerker and an idiot.

Extraordinary claims?

The US has been torturing people into confessions they've known to be false...as they've often released them after they've confessed. All this has plenty of proof all across every news network that isnt brodcasting soley on mars.

I was unaware that torture of people in one prison is evidence in and of itself that torture is occuring elsewhere.

I was unaware that this was evidence that they'd torture people for false confessions and then broadcast that on the news media, nimrod.

What I've seen suggested is they released them is because they realized their confessions were false and they hadn't done anything.
