I got a virus or spyware problem

Post by Bob the Gunslinger »

Okay, I don't know where it came from, but now I have either a virus or a spyware problem or both. I use spybot to clear my computer, but it comes back.
My windows now looks for Virtual Bouncer, among other things.
It keeps messing with my computer. Can anyone give some advice on taking care of it?

Also, anytime I go to a new webpage, I get some pop-up saying my authority has expired from Paypal. I think maybe the spyware is trying to hack into my paypal account.

This should be in gaming and computers.

Run these, then post the hijackthis log. I might be able to help...

get ad-aware and fully update it then run scan. It is better than spybot search and destroy since that's never updated.

try getting other anti spyware progies, such as cwshreddar and adaware. spybot alone isn't enough to combat all of the nasty things lurking out on the web.

Thanks Ein. I'll have to try it on my home computer. (I'm in the school's computer lab. My computer hasn't worked properly at all for 2 days. I was lucky to get that help message out.)

Where do I find them? Just Google or will I get virus-infected imitations like Virtual Bouncer (one of the 172 detected computer maladies)?

SpywareBlaster works like SpybotSD's Immunize function but quite a bit more powerful and frequently updated.
