For the record (though I certainly have mentioned it before...), my FTL drive system works via wormholes, as well.
But on a completely different style, though. More like Night's Dawn Trilogy-drive, creating short-ranged wormholes, and having to calculate new jumps in-between and re-charge the drive systems.
No one mentioned any problems with it so far, but if there are, I can change it to something different.

Wormholes, in and of themselves, aren't a problem. Instant-transit is. Since you don't seem to go 'pop! I am instantly there!', it's not a problem. Laz here just refuses to play by rules.Dahak wrote:For the record (though I certainly have mentioned it before...), my FTL drive system works via wormholes, as well.

So using GAME BALENCE rather then a set or rules that i've never heard of is "Bullshit"?Hotfoot wrote:Here's t full quote you little shit.lazerus wrote:Allow me to quote you......Code: Select all

The one thing we do well is build FAST ships. I think aly's empire said that DS9 power level does not equal DS9 tek level, and that we are using the former. [13:23] HotfootB5: I don't care. [13:23] sorcerer Jax: can I quote you on that? [13:23] HotfootB5: I'm tired of going through this shit with you. [13:23] HotfootB5: I want you gone.
The fact that you don't even understand what we're pissed off about only goes to further show my point. Your constant bullshitting, powergaming, and whining is what we are pissed off about.I'm playing a race of FUCKING PACIFISTS! How is that a ban-worthy offence.
I'm not the one that started this.As much as I am all for redemption, and as much as I believe that Laz might shape up, I also am damn tired of his constant bickering. In the interests of preserving the flow of this STGOD, I third his banning.
Because your an asshole, and becuase you apprantly hold longstanding grudges over games. You should see a doctor about this projection. Question: How can a student who spends all day powergaming call a married man with a job 'an asshole with no life'?

You can't have point-to-point FTL drives, and you can't have FTL that lets you enter a system without any possibility of early warning. These things are unbalancing. Strategic combat in this tech level centers around "base control;" the attacker moves to capture or neutralize the defender's naval bases (i.e. planets). In doing so he increases his own flexibility and decreases the defender's.
In order to prevent the attacker from gain a massive advantage the tactical aspect is predicated by several key assumptions, one of the most important of which is the rule that a planet's sensor net can give a flexible response time of at least a few minutes, enough time for the planet to raise defenses and the closest fleet to scramble. If your ships could drop into the middle of another player's key systems without any warning then you would have a massive advantage.
I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with your FTL drive being somewhat faster than other peoples', considering it's limitations. But we can't go assigning the sort of advantages you seem to want to have from it. It would be too much.

Lazerus' future in the STGOD
Heya guys:
Under normal circumstances I would not feel the need nor the inclanation to chime in since most of the points necessary have been touched upon. This is an exception, and as such I will give my two cents on the Lazerus situation.
As I see it, Lazerus has difficulties interacting within the constraints of the STGOD. In order for a roleplay to be successful and enjoyable, it has to be a corraboration to an extent. That is to say that two people or more must be flexible in their portrayals of their empires/forces/whatever.
We have seen several empire's portrayed by lazerus and either through a lack of experience or an inability to utilize common sense, they have been monumental and at times tragic failures. Taking that in mind, I feel that it may be best to disallow Lazerus a chance to continue participating in the STGOD for the foreseeble future. While he may be a great person in real life, and he may have opinions and thoughts that may be valuable additions to threads within SDNET. I do not think that he is quite ready to throw his weight around within the constraints of an STGOD. Least of all, an STGOD following our current style.
If push comes to shove, I will support the banning of Lazerus from STGOD. I believe in redemption, but Lazerus has already received several chances in this particular STGOD and improvement seems minimal at best.

This empire was supposed to be my redemption, but is apprantly totally unacceptable because it has FAST SHIPS.Marcao wrote:Heya guys:

All we are about to observe with his new Empire of the Week (TM) is a fabulous new train wreck of an empire.
Then he will bitch and moan that we all were unfair to him, leave, come back, and run another Empire into the ground.
I'm tired of that.

An STGOD is written as collaboration by a number of authors, and as such a decision like this is best made in the court of public opinion.lazerus wrote:Great, just fucking great, so my "court of public opinion" is people who either hold grudges, or are apathetic.

Actually it's Empire of the Weak, and empire is pushing it given that it's a peace-loving democracy.Dahak wrote:All we are about to observe with his new Empire of the Week (TM) is a fabulous new train wreck of an empire.

This isn't a grudge, dumbass, this is you actively going around and pissing people off instead of leaving well enough alone. If we were holding grudges, your new OOB wouldn't have lasted two seconds before it was shot down.lazerus wrote:Great, just fucking great, so my "court of public opinion" is people who either hold grudges, or are apathetic.
Oh, I'm sorry, you want there to be fairness NOW? How amusing.Whatever happend to an impartial jury?
You fucked up, you fucked up big time. We're tired of you taking up fucking page after page of pointless bickering and whining on the OOC thread. It's irritating and it slows the damn game down to a glacial crawl.

Because you throw yourself to them with such wonderful ability.lazerus wrote:Why don't you just throw me to the wolves and be done with it?
And, for the record, my territory is OUTSIDE OF KNOWN SPACE.
Not everyone has the coordinates to my region, much less my homeworld.
I will grant that GCN broadcasts could be picked up and triangulated, theoretically, but highly detailed starmaps of my systems are only in the hands of one other power, at the moment, and I know for a fact you don't have them.
