Almost fifteen minutes later, Badger heard the sound of incoming VTOL motors. A trio of boxy police 'skimmers move in low over the region. Two landed, and another began to circle the area. Local cops, Hudsoners by their uniforms, jumped out and began securing the scene. It looked like they had done this before.
Hmm hmm hmm- perhaps these provinces haven't been as peaceful as the lack of news suggests? I wonder what two armored Hajr troops were doing in this area, anyways...
The bodies were loaded up, not in ambulances but in the 'skimmers.
Odd.
Teams of cops began fanning out, searching the buildings. A bunch of officers, including a handful of tall figures who were undoubtedly Ousters, were examining the crime scene. One was manipulating what looked like a computer of some sort, playing with a laser rangefinder and adjusting keys and knobs. He spoke into a radio, and minutes later, Badger smiled inwards as he heard a dull boom. It seemed that the booby trap had been tripped.
Badger shook his head. It had taken them days to find a patrol like this one- the occupation seemed pretty hands-off, and the locals were acting pretty submissive. Hudson had changed hands a dozen times since the Genocide wars, and the White Floaters were hardly the worst one through- and they were far and away the most lethal.
Badger was about to leave, when he noticed something- the third police 'skimmer was of a radically different model than the rest. It looked like an Ouster Dragoon transport, the likes of which he had only seen in the files sent from the Battle of Camaro.
Heavy firepower. I reckon that if this had been more than just a booby trap and two dead guards, there would be fifty Dragoons here clearing out the street....

"The operation went well."
"Two ouster guards dead, plus four support personell that went up with the bomb. I'd hardly call that a significant impact on their occupation here."
"The goal of today's op was not to kill ousters, it was to judge their response time."
Badger spoke up
"They came pretty quickly, dispite the fact that Sprint fraged the only two guards on the street. They've got a pretty good comm system in place."
"How do you think they'ed respond to a major attack like a roadside bomb?"
"My guess is that they'ed respond pretty harshly. I've heard stories about them being pretty lethal."
"What are the chances of us getting info on one of their clusters?"
"Slim to none. Their security is increased after today's attack, as if a regular human could get onto a cluster anyway."
Scimitar spoke
"I'm not a regular human. My distant cousins here might be willing to let me take a tour or somthing. and at the very least I can see what's going on in their newly aquired former Arcane systems."
(OOC: The plot thickens even more. Mua ha ha ha.)

Vice Admiral Tjoerhom assessed the data she sensed through the sensor net as soon as they swallowed out of their wormholes at the outer edges of the Al-Quadim system.
The sensors picked up the Veithan fleet. They opened up a com channel.
"Admiral Stone," she said with a cheerful voice. "Thank you for the invitation. It was getting rather...crowded in the Arcane home system." she cleared her throat.
"I also have conferred with my home on the way in, and I am to extend a suggestion to you and your government. As newly-formed allies, we would like to help you with the colonisation and securing of these new systems. We like to extend our presence into known space, and would like to colonize one of the suitable gas giants in this system. You are certainly not yet aware of our full capabilities, but we certainly can help each other in this...project. We await your answer."
Another pause. "In the mean time I would like to extend an invitation to dinner on Verdandi. Tjoerhom out."

It had been four days since the shootin of the Hajr soldiers, four days since the KES team had gotten it's first good look at the Hajr's response time
"Scimitat left six hours ago. He should be near the Hajr spaceport now."
"Are you sure he'll be able to get into one of their civillian clusters?"
"Let's hope so."
"What was the other news you called us here to discuss?"
"KES is assigning two additional agents to assist us. Watcher, and Slicer"
"Does that mean that there ready to step up the operation a little?"
"Somewhat. We've been authorized to try and make contact with any local resistance."
"What local resistance?"
"Badger said that the local police and Hajr soldiers seemed adept at the counter terrorism role, and that they acted like they had done it before. This planet obviously isn't as secure as the Hajr would like most to think."
:::::::Hajr spaceport::::::
Scimitar walked twards the civillain spaceport, greeting the ousters at the gate.
"Hello fellow unbound, How may I seek passage to one of the new clusters being set up in Arcane space for us to return to?"

The guard looked at him crossly, and spoke in thickly accented, flowing freespeak.
"Cousin, perhaps you have not been paying attention. We are building no Clusters, we are leaving that to you. Our resources are stretched as is defending the area. If you are interested, the Clusters of Inisha and Avalon have both relocated to former Arcanist space, but that is your matter, not ours. I'm sure you can find a vessel headed that way at the main spaceport- this facility services only cargo vessels heading to Eketrina."

Eketrina Cluster
Fortress Asteroid
The Speaker surveyed the latest reports. Construction was going well, with the final work on the vessels of the 4th War Cluster only a week away, and a flotilla of escorts manufactured in Madrighala back in the Elysium Sector would be arriving a week later, rounding the Cluster out with a full complement- and the Cruisers were all the new model Brief Life Burns Brightly class, the most heavily armed conventional cruisers yet sighted, short of Krell Lances.
And then, the local reports. Some small violence on Hudson, but nothing as bad as the riots following the invasion. She sighed. They hadn't any leads as to the source of the sniper, and it looked like he had escaped cleanly. Well, if he struck again, they would be ready- she hoped.
The day's diplomatic brief was most interesting. Shivan trading vessels had opened up relations with a trio of the local civilian Clusters- the food factory clusters Analfas and Meshif, out in the Oort cloud, and the smelter cluster Arabenz, out orbiting Hudson 5, the massive gas giant. Curious indeed, these Floaters would be some of the first foreign traders to work directly with the Ousters.
In any case, she would make sure to notify the Cluster leaders to take care, and watch the foreigners closely- after all, the goods they manufactured were important to the Hajr, and would have to be protected.

Watcher and Slicer had arrived, and taken up residence in another city to avoid suspicion. All six of the KES agents were meeting to discuss their plans.
"What do we do now?"
"Victor's "trading" fleet has given us access to a couple of the Ouster's civillian clusters. Our people on the transports are performing some low level reconnasance, the kind that won't get them detected by the Hajr."
"What about us?"
"We've been ordered to step things up a little, Flash?"
"Yes?"
"I want you to set up a roadside bomb outside one of the smaller cities. Detonate it when a Hajr patrol moves by."
"Sounds risky boss, I might get caught."
"Sprint's checking the area out now, trying to get a handle on the frequency and time of the patrols. There shouldn't be any problems."

"English then... This is the Military Missile Destroyer XV1-1, or Hailstorm as we call her. This is ambassador Nerodia Boigia speaking.
We hail from the Draconis Republic, our homewrld is called Varathrax.
We are dropping our shields, and disengaging the anti-boarding countermeasures. However, it may still be a bit difficult for you to get through our ships. We climb through them you see, and there are many bars and rings that cut the internal space of our corridors"

"We do have one small question... We are several hudred lightyears from here, and we first recieved a radio trasmission from a place called 'Germany' made by a man named 'Adolf Hitler' in '1938' roughly 3 of your years ago. And have since witnessed the early stages of a world spanning war... who won that?"

"Send off the take from the Polaris to Monacora. I didn't think that Captain Zzrinka of all people would forget to copy it to them when they reported to us."
"I imagine that he was a little shaken by what he saw, Admiral. I know I would be if I was commanding my frigate and came upon a hostile facility of that size," Captain Corven noted as he sent the sensor telemetry package to the comms room to be encrypted in the Monacoran diplomatic cypher and sent to Earth.
"You're probably right, Captain," conceded Blessinger. "Well, attach our apologies for the delay and put the transmission on first priority."
"Yes, sir."

One of our destroyer patrols has found a major Siliconoid base of operations. Attached are the coordinates of the system, designated Gamma-3658 by our Astrographical Survey, and the sensor data from the destroyer Polaris and frigate Dusk Bandit. The report came in to us about eight hours ago as of the transmission of this message. The captain of the Polaris neglected to send a copy directly to you in the scramble to clear the system. I apologize for the delay; we didn't realize the omission until analysts went through the destroyer's transmission logs. Please advise as to your plans concerning this information. Our fleets stand ready to participate in an attack at your request.

The Atlantian fleet once more dropped into real space in a basicly empty portion of space, there were no other ships anywhere, the fleet began recharging the engines imediately and made a slight cource correction.
In the short down time though the Admral and hectori sent a message to the home world stating simply that after observing humans first hand they were a most puzzeling race, and that as a defense more ships would need to be built. Not only that the exact location of Atlantis should remain a secret.
MEANWHILE......
In the ocean of New St. Paul the Atlantian transport finished scanning and found no dangerous paracites or chemical compounds. Immediately the troops were ported out and set up a perimiter and held their sonic rifles ready.
Next the build team was ported down followed by segments of the dome perimiter which was ported directly to where it would be constructed. The build team swam to each segment's connector and flipped the switches to activate the crystalin seals, joining them almost instantly. once that was compleated they initiated the construction sequence and a dome began to form. First the floor crept in from all sides joining in the center then its walls began to stretch up and lean toghether untill finnally they joined and the dome was formed at which point the air tanks that were built into the base of the dome activated and pushed about 3/4th of the water out. The build team then retreved more kits from the transport and carted them inside the water lock, to begin construction of the interior, and were quickly followed by the troops. Inia leaned back against a bulkhead, having watched the team assemble the dome perfectly she was pleased and hoped that the humans would be too.

Admiral Clay increased the magnification on the intruders as he waited for a response. Finally, it came. They claimed to come in peace, but they did not shut down their systems, as he had demanded. <<I say again, shut down all your non-essential systems and prepare to be boarded. You will comply, or we will open fire. Shut down your ship. Now.>> Tension laced the artificial recreation of the Admiral’s voice. The ship once again protested indignantly that they came here in peace, and did not shut down their systems. Words meant nothing here, only actions mattered, and Clay knew his orders. Any ships entering Consortium space on un-approved vectors were to be detained or destroyed, always with care taken to preserving the lives of the citizens.
The Kitan vessel was annihilated by the combined cannons of battlegroup in the blink of an eye. Clay sighed in his command pod and shook his head. They may have been well meaning, but you simply do not try to bargain with a warrior defending his home.

Katherine Sutherland was amazed by the Realm of the Blood King, and perhaps more than a little intimidated. Everyone knew the legends of vampires, but up until the entry of the Consortium into Known Space, they had been just that, legends. Creatures of fantasy for the entertainment industry to shock and amaze the masses with. The concept Vampires from Outer Space might seem almost humorous if it wasn’t so blatantly there, inescapable fact. The opulence of the Blood King’s accommodations had seemed as a move to put her and the other delegates at ease, but it just kept her more on her toes. The Vampires were not enemies, but there was just something that kept tingling her spine.
Ordinarily, it was not common practice to send a telepathically gifted diplomat to a new power, but the Director had decided to override that policy this time. No multi-ethnic party, no mix of telepathic and mundane, the entire delegation was telepathic. It was mostly a precaution, and one that Katherine hoped wouldn’t be taken the wrong way by her hosts, but then the Veithans were present as well, so the entire meeting would hopefully go smoothly.
There were no Groundform guards for Katherine or her aides, and the aides would wait patiently for her if they were denied entrance to the meeting. They were here at the request of the Blood King, and they did not want to abuse his hospitality, or insult his intentions. The diplomatic ship was a standard Ravenlock vessel, with no weapons apart from a standard point defense array, used primarily for clearing away debris. Once Katherine had been escorted to the meeting, she would be pleasant and mildly talkative, chatting about common things, if her escort was talkative, getting an overall feeling for the situation.
Once inside, she noticed and pleasantly acknowledged the other delegates as they arrived. When everyone was seated and the meeting began, she waited patiently for her turn to speak. Finally, the moment came as the Veithan ambassador finished.
“The Ravenlock Consortium sees these worlds a mixed blessing. We came to them through the betrayal of the Arcane Empire and the threat of the Mechanoids, but yet they offer a solution to a problem that has plagued us for centuries. As some of you may know, for various reasons, our own worlds are overpopulated, and in all space surrounding the Consortium in every direction, Terra-compatible worlds are exceedingly rare. Thus, we plan on using these new worlds granted to us by the Monacorans, Union and two of her nearby colonies, as colonies for our people. We do not dispute the claims of the Hajr or the Blood King in the slightest, and simply ask that the worlds granted to us be considered ours in entirety. The Consortium is quite thorough in occupying space, and our increasing Dra’kol population means that even the Gas Giants will be populated areas.”
“If there are any objections, we are, of course, prepared to negotiate,” with that, she finished, allowing the next party to pick up where she had left off.

NRS Broadsword, Second Carrier Battle Group, Third Fleet, Earth OrbitAlyrium Denryle wrote:"We do have one small question... We are several hudred lightyears from here, and we first recieved a radio trasmission from a place called 'Germany' made by a man named 'Adolf Hitler' in '1938' roughly 3 of your years ago. And have since witnessed the early stages of a world spanning war... who won that?"
Commodore Harris chuckled at that. His ship was orbiting alongside the Excelsior, part of the carrier battle group left behind after the Rape to ensure Nashtari presence should the Monacoran coordinators of the Machine hunt give sudden orders concerning the Siliconoids. Word had come in of the discovery of a Siliconoid base, and the fleet was gearing for hyperspace and combat. But Harris was a history buff, and since the Monacoran controller wasn't answering, he reached for his communications headset. "That'd be the Allied Powers. Germany didn't stand a chance fighting two fronts against the rest of the world, Hitler's massive rhetoric notwithstanding. Welcome to the outside galaxy, Hailstorm. This is Commodore Franklin Harris of the Nashtar Republic battleship Broadsword, and I extend greetings on behalf of my government."
[OOC: Yeah, I never withdrew the group from Third Fleet. They're on detachment to the Siliconoid-hunting force at the moment. Forgot if I specifically mentioned it or not, but I never posted withdrawing them.]
Edit: I need to start keeping notes to avoid these continuity violations; the commander of the Broadsword at Camaro was Commodore Harris, and the ship hasn't been back to Praetor to switch out Blue and Gold crews. >_<

"Thank you Commadore Wright, my ships crew, and probably a good portion of our population have been taking bets on that war. In fact..."
he turned to the ships captain
"a victory for democracy" he said. The captain turned red because he had lost the bet, and then a cool blue... he loved democracy...
still on screen, the jovial bridge crew gave a hat to the Ambassador, a hat filled with paper currency
"hehe, you see Commadore, the crew of the ship betted on Hitler. We have just recieved transmissions from Roosevelt's Pearl Harbor Speech, they didnt think the US could hold off Japan. not with most f its Pacific Fleet gone. But I voted for the allies. A democratic nation with a strong industrial base, using a capitalistic system... they can make up the loss of a fleet rather quickly"

Former Covenant of God
The Obedience class fast destroyer Scourge of foolishness jumped into real space less than one astronomical unit from the contested planet.
Captain Hitrek grey-tooth looked at the image shown magnified on the viewscreen. The planet looked lush and fertile, just as the astronomers had estimated, this would do him no end of good once he got the news back to Itsil. The first planet colonised by the confederacy in thirty years.
"Report".
"Captain, the planet appears habitable, but we are getting strange energy readings from it". Hekrit narrowed his eyes in a gesture of curiosity "what kind of readings?".
"Well they look like what the scanners pick up in an inhabited system".
Hekrit stared at the screen in disbelief
aliens he thought. That was indeed a worrying prospect, if the readings were correct then this planet could be as well defended as Retik or Teskit, and what's more it could be part of a larger empire, and that could mean he had opened up a can of worms on the whole confederacy...
But, if this was just one planet, just some sort of one-system fiefdom, that would not be any trouble, and the rewards of conquering an already industrialised system would be... well, it had never happened before, but Hekrit expected that it could be a great opportunity.
"Set a course for the systems asteroid belt, we will take cover in there and launch a probe to the planet to ascertain as much information as we can."

"Conn, sensors. Unidentified ship entering the system, less than one AU away. Unknown design, but power output and weapons ratios are consistent with a warship. Its roughly equivalent in power to a light destroyer. Designate contact Sierra-274."
"Sensors, Conn, aye. Comms, Conn, hail Sierra-274 and route the communication to my headset."
"Aye."
"Unidentified vessel, this is Captain Borodin of the Nashtar Republic cruiser Oppenheimer. You have entered restricted space. Identify yourselves and state your business."

"Japan, for all its power, made a monumental mistake at Pearl Harbor. What your crew apparently missed is that the primary Japanese objective, the United States carrier fleet, was not at Pearl Harbor on the morning of the attack. Admiral Yamamoto knew the disaster that was the failure to destroy the carriers, but the Japanese leaders were too absorbed in battleships to realize it. If you'd rather not wait another four years for continuing television transmissions, I'm sure the Monacorans could fill you in. Failing that, I could copy my collection of history documents to you."Alyrium Denryle wrote:"Thank you Commadore Wright, my ships crew, and probably a good portion of our population have been taking bets on that war. "Oh that would be wonderful. It seems that the monocorans haveturned off their transmitters, or have a massive beurocracy in order to get a ship out to us. In the meantime, I would be honored to meet you, or someone you designate on y ship. We will of course decontaminate the ship, and wear biohazard suits for your, and our protection
We only get the major national propaganda for both sides you see... we had no idea about the carrier fleets"

"Well... Perhaps it would be better to meet with my superior, Admiral Lansing. Since Pearl Harbor, carriers have carried the admirals, not battleships. I'm just here to keep hostiles away from the Excelsior. That, and it would probably be a bad idea to initiate contact with the Monacorans and then wander off to do something else while they're finding you a diplomat to meet with and an orbit path for your ship. You'll have to forgive them for being a bit slow. Earth was recently attacked and nearly devastated by a large hostile force; in fact, that's the entire reason our battlegroup is here. As you can imagine, the government is a little tied up. I imagine they'll get to you shortly."

Come on down, we just want to temporarilly quarantine you, then we can talk here and we can give you a tour of our beloved planet, along with a guided tour of the archives that can give you a detailed history of the entire world war conflict."
