1 GHC vs B5 universe.

Post by The Nomad »

A fully crewed and equipped Glorious Heritage-class starship drops out of slipstream in the B5 galaxy.
That's all the Younger and Middle Races + Vorlons and Shadows vs the GHC.

GHC has advantage of surprise.

Neither. GHC was probably on an exploration mission. It would make contact with other races and defend itself against any hostile race.

Don't cop out like that Paladin its cleary ment its trying to kill as much as possible, you seem to do this shit alot of XXX VS XXX,
Well XXX WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE XXX

Its getting a tad annyoing kindly stop

Anyway to the subject at hand the GHC goes on quite Rampage but I belive the Shadows(Assuming they can get close enough) could easily take out the GHC

The GHC can put out alot of damage but not take much

First, it's XMC.

Second, while it can anal rape pretty much any younger race (<1 megaton killed Black Star vs 20 megaton missle?) and first ones (20 gigaton barrages vs. <250 megaton killed Shadow) slipstream will be less traveled and harder.

Can a XMC build weapons? Cause if not missles will run out real fast...

Yes, they will have major supply problems, considering their weaponry depends on manufactured ammunition.

their dependence on missles would be their undoing but they can still rip apart both the YR and the FO's a new one before they go down.

Shadow vessel that XMC cannot detect due to advanced stealth and general blending into space (go black!) carves it into bite sized morsels with its armor-ignoring beam weapon... :)

I think they can build more weapons. Harper has been shown building nova bombs (or one super nova bomb) plus Rommie has been getting replacement weapons/drones from somewhere.

One episode Dylan mentioned stopping by an asteroid field so Rommie could get material to restock her weapons load.

There was also an episode where the Andromeda freed a bunch of Highguard ships that had been captured by the Nietzcheans. They were specifically kept in a solar system without any material for them to use to construct replacement slipstream drives.

My vote is that the GHC would do lots of damage but eventually would be stopped, probably by one of the races of First Ones. Probably the Vorlons or Shadow because the extra numbers would come in handy. I think the First Ones have ships that can dish out more damage than the GHC can take.

A normal load out has 40 nova bombs. If all they are going to do is destroy stuff they could pop into major systems toast the sun and jump out.

The Balance of Judgment and Wrath of Achilles belong to the same class. They are both DSX Siege Perilous II Destroyers. The mistake is with All Systems that labels them as a Wrath of Achilles DSA II. The writers acknowledged the mistake and were attempting to get it fixed.

A GHC just needs a quite asteroid field and some time to rebuild her stock of missiles and drones. In a similar manner they can replenish their AP stocks by “mining” stars and gas giants. They can simply hit several locations and then fade away for a few days or weeks to repair and restock.

They would do far more damage than the GHC could.

Basically it ignores B5's armours, it's like saying a Vorlon Cruiser or Shadow Battle Crab could rip off an ISD with kiloton/megaton ranged main weaponry.

And Shadow Battle Crabs need to be uncloaked to fire IIMNM, therefore it leaves the XMC enough time to "bounce away" with 170 kilo-G acceleration, or fire some kinetic missiles or AP bolts at point blank range to annihilate them in a split-second. If an XMC's sensors and computer can intercept .9c missiles with lasers or defensive missiles, I think shooting an uncloaking vessel at close range during the 2 seconds it needs to open fire would be quite easy. Automated response, what a wonderful thing. Wouldn't be inconsistent with the theoretical response time needed for battles at a significant fraction of the speed of light with near-c weapons.

Don't they have nanotech to build up spare pieces and ammo ?

And there will be no Lorien, no Triad, no otherspace aliens, just the Younger Races, the Middle Races, the Vorlon and the Shadows.

Fine then, 1 Technomage + 1 Spell of Destruction = 0 GHC. Either way 1 GHC could never hope to defeat the entire B5 Universe. Even one where the the other Firstones magically can't attack them.

Yes. Along with having various machine shops onboard to construct parts. The hull itself can be repaired by nanobots and probably minibots are used in addition. The rate they repair at seems to be fairly high considering how quickly the hull damage Andromeda suffered in Season One finale was repaired.

A GHC's fullerene hull armor alone may weight in heavily on the effectiveness of the Shadow's slicer beams.

You mean the same spell that takes out a chunk a handful of meters in diameter? The one whos distance is practically visual range?

TM takes some chunks out of the XMC before getting vaporized by return fire.

I'm talking about the one where a few Technomages take out the Drahk's remaining SPK and construction facilities.

Against a GHC, which B5 power would last the longest? Probably Earthforce. Yes, Earthforce. Why? Because they're the only ones that had the brains to build dedicated point defense weapons. B5 or an Omega-class destroyer could actually stop a handful of kinetic missiles before being turned into shreds of sushi. Everyone else would just get smashed outright.

Other than the cool names they'd get spanked just for looking like bad versions of Vorlon ships. :D Plus, the don't appear to be that manuverable, although the do seem to be pretty tough with lots of firepower.

Not as maneuverable as a Glorious Heritage Cruiser but probably still better than most capital ships in B5.

I've seen very few episodes of B5, but their point defenses had trouble hitting slow bolts and projectiles !!!! You do realize that .9c is insanely fast for a projectile ? They'd never hit one single OM-5, unless some huge friggin' character shield is raised up.
