Hold up. Thirdfain, you made his operative do something incredibly stupid. No agent in enemy territory would do what you just had him do. They come, you act like a normal citizen and pray to God (or don't, as the case may be) that they don't think you're another power's operative. And above all else, you don't carry a damn pistol into the field; James Bond to the contrary, they attract far too much attention to be worth the jack and shit that they actually do to protect you.

He is one of the few cars out in the region, he knew he'd be searched, and he knew that with a fucking STEALTHSUIT in his car, he'd be caught. It's what I'd have done in that situation. The situation gave him no other choice, he could hardly act like a regular citizen with an expensive peice of illegal outworld equipment in his car.

Oh, and he declared the pistol, not me.

Scuttle as the first option, Speaker? No escape attempt? Those 1 inch skulls must not have all that much brain matter in 'em. Then again, they're trying to get the Soviet system to work, so...

Some of the corridors are bigger to allow the five foot walkers or human auxiliaries to move through.
Err..., you're a biologist, right. Is six inches too small to have a reasonable brain?, if so what's the minimum for a brain as effective as a humans?

6 inches, tho?
Hrm might be possible but several factors would need to line up perfectly and mean PERFECTLY. First the brain would need to be hyper-cortacalised(sp) or in other words super wrinkled. Second autonomic systems would need to be contained further down the spine. Next they would lack some portions of the brain dealing with perception. lastly their neurons would need to be extreamly conductive, that would allow for faster communication and more connections.

but thats allot of what if's

Biologist, in training I suppose you could say...

So what's the smallest size possible to have a respectable brain?.

The thought of merely stepping on the enemy in ground combats amuses me greatly. :)

Powered armored troopers versus super-intelligent mice? It's like pitting the Book MI against the Redshirt Brigade.

I'd say for for 3-5 feet at least.

its not a matter of direct size but efficency and ratio to body size, example a whale's brain is the size of a child's entire body but one could argue that the child is smarter. lots of it depends on what you use. Example cats have a very large cerebellum and are therefore very agile. Besides, you can claim genetic memory that frees up space, not only that you would have a diffrent evolutionary path.

Brain capacity aside though i would increase their size as a matter of practicality.

How about a foot and a half with big heads?. Not so big their overbalanced, but a bit bigger than a humans in relation to body size?.

Sorry to tell you, but they've realised this and have transplanted nearly all their ground troops into mini WOTW style walkers.

I'll be more generous to your character concept. I'd say two feet at least, but they'd have to have large heads in proportion to their bodies. There have been human midgets who didn't have impaired mental faculties, though they're few and far between.

You might be able to take it down to 1 to 1.5 feet and plead that this is sci-fi/fiction (see The Rats of NIMH), but it won't be realistic, just within the realm of possibility.

Edit complete, they are now tweny inches tall. I guess I won't be able to surprise anyone at the first diplomatic conference I arrive at.

Such devices would be considerably more expensive than a cheap suit of powered armor, meaning you would have fewer of them.

If you're playing a physically diminutive race, you've got to take a hit somewhere. Your fleets might be comparable, but your ground forces are going to be sub-par in some respect or another.

The famous Soviet Horrifying Human wave won't exactly work if all of your soldiers are highly trained mecha pilots. :)

But, yeah, if you want to play a people that make the SG-1 Asgard look tall and mighty, go for it.

Twenty inches should be sufficient.

Hmmmm, I probably need to do a bit of work on the military as well, thanks for pointing that out, Hotfoot.

Any suggestions about the ground military thing?, they don't have to be Monacorans, or average, in fact, just need to be able to hold their own in a fight for at least a short time (until they can bring in orbital bombardment).

I'd suggest powered armor, perhaps supported by droid mini-tanks capable of hauling a squad's heavy weapons, and then the standard array of vehicles. Your infantry will always be something of a weak point, but your artillery shells and such will still hit as hard.

I'll use those ideas but I think I'll keep the mini-walkers.
Thanks.

Mini-tanks would be more practical, but that's never deterred a mech fan before, so what the hey.

I would use those enslaved humans has the bulk of my infantry. Your specis flys the ships and planes and tanks and artillary guns.

I would with self proelled guns for Arty by the way, but I'm a bit of a moblity freak.
