Soundtracks that got it right

Post by RogueIce »

My counter to Stravo's thread. Which soundtracks got it right?

Of course, it's pretty hard to fault TPM: Ultimate Edition; having the individual themes would be nice, but it did have every single musical cue in the movie so far as I could tell. :D

The Rock comes to mind as well. I think this was one of the better ones, "Rock House Jail" especially. In the movie, it played great, even when it was split up among thirty minutes or so (it even had track 8, "The Chase" in between it during the movie!) of other action, and could still sound great. And, on the CD, with it all together in the 10 minutes or so of the track, it flows together perfectly. Most tracks I hear are done all together in the movie; this one wasn't, and still sounded great, despite the decidedly varying themes sprinkled throughout. I have yet to hear another song like this.

Pirates of the Caribbean is another one. I'm not sure if it got all the music from the movie (been awhile since I last saw it), but it flows together very well on the CD. I can turn it on, not pay any attention, and think it was just one very long ass song. Well done, well done indeed.

Yours?

Ok, maybe I should be more specific...

The soundtrack as a whole, not just because you happen to like the music itself.

For example, I loved what Hans Zimmer did in Pearl Harbor but I still found the soundtrack itself to be lacking.

*grumbles* So you explain why they suck, but when given one to extoll their virtues, we just get a list?

Lazy bastards!

No, it's just what more can you say about it than that they got it right? I could wax poetic about it but more words doesn't make for a better value.

Well, mostly for those who have yet to hear it, really. Give some idea of what's going on. Description, if you will.
