This thread is really, really fucked up. As soon as the page limit is reached, it creates a new, non-existant page. If you try to access that page, it says "No posts exist for this topic."

Maybe phpBB is jealous of Source?

I just noticed something. Barney is wearing the same uniform that the Combine soldiers wear. So it seems that Barney went from one type of security to another. I wonder why he was in the Combine and what made him leave.

It could be that Barney grabbed the uniform off a dead Combine soldier...?

Or are you talking about the scene where Gordon gets introduced to City 17?

Last year they released a video with Gordon and Barney fighting a Combine street baricade. Barney is wearing the same uniform just without the gas mask.

I'm thinking that the simplest explanation would be that Barney killed a Combine soldier, perhaps by hand, and since by that point his own armor may have been shot, or otherwise just completely inadequate against Combine weapons, he used the dead soldier's armor.

Why go the simple route?

Especially when you consider that not a single NPC on your team has ever demonstrated HtH capabilities. That makes it more complex.

EDIT: Okay, so a Barney did punch a Zombie during a HL1 scripted sequence. However, the punch had no effect whatsoever on the Zombie, so....

Somehow I doubt that. Given Barney's history I am willing to bet he was in the Combine at first. Possibly under cover by order of the G-Man.

Speaking of. Barney and those three scientists were some of the very few to escape the grip of the G-Man at the end. I wonder how he got his claws into Barney.

Seriously though, it would be nice to see him make an appearance. Damned if I can figure out how they'd work that angle though.

Could be. I was always under the impression that he was kept in some sort of interdimensional prison or pocket dimension, but it could be he was transferred to City 17. I hadn't actually considered that until now.

The cool thing about Sheperd is that unlike Barney and Gordon, etc... WE HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE.

He could pop up anywhere.

Like Hotfoot said, the G-Man has to first have had released Sheppard from his dimensional "prison." If he did, than yeah we could see Sheppard.

I'm really interested in the G-Man though. What exactly IS he?

I find it odd that the G-Man nabbed Barney when Barney escaped and Sheppard was kept locked up.

Here are some things to think about people. Its possible that we might get to see things from Barney's or Sheppards view in an add-on.

And one more tidbit. Gamespy says that a few well placed shotgun blasts are all it takes to kill a Strider.

As I understood it, Barney was always a part of the resistance against the G-Man and his plans, as were the scientists he escaped with at the end of Blue Shift.

If they're going to give Barney or Sheppard a bigger role in HL2, that will become very difficult. They might be keeping Sheppard out of HL2 for the most part so they could use him as the protagonist for an add-on.

Well-placed in this case probably means finding some sort of weak spot and manuvering into position. If a few well placed shotgun shots should do it, then I would imagine a guided missile would achieve a similar effect once you get the location nailed down.

I still see a posibility for Barney. Sure he plays some roles in the game. But they might set it up so you basicaly do the same thing, then seperate from Gordon for whatever reason they used in HL2 and go do your own thing.
