Hekrit resisted the urge to scratch out of nervousness. What he said next could determine the fate of the whole confederacy. Eventually he came to a descision.frigidmagi wrote:"I'd have to agree. "Yes, that would be acceptable, but we must contact the government before anything can be finalised. In the meantime, is there anything we should know, now that we are joining the galaxy at large".

"Hmmm... very well. You said earlier that your United Protectorates were an independant human state, as are those other ships in orbit around the habitable planet in this system. Could you elaborate on this?, how did this situation come to pass?".frigidmagi wrote:"Of course by all means contact your government. And we will include data on forgein powers in the cultural data. "This planet was the capital of a regilious fanitic state, that declared holy war on the galaxy at large. A group of allied states put an end to that. It was then decided that this state was to dangerous to be set loose without supervision. An occupication was estblished. Afterwards when contact was estblished between the UP and the other powers, we were asked by our allies to aide in maintaining order. Currently we hold this planet alongside our ally the Republic of Nashtar."

"Sir, new orders from Command. Our mission here is considered bust in light of the Arcane evacuation, and we have new orders. A Siliconoid base has been discovered at Gamma-3257. We are to jump there and establish space superiority until ground forces can be brought in to storm the planet."
"Set course. Those machines are going to pay for the Rape of Terra. Recover all fighters and jump as soon as possible. Signal the other fleets in the area, inform them of our intentions."
"Aye, Admiral."

The Nashtari fleet formed up and jumped to hyperspace as soon as the last of the fighters were taken in. They would spend eight days in transit.

A fast courier vessel, dispatched from Sacrament, arrived at Cadmus. Hours later, a well-dressed Covenanter shook hands with the Krell representative, smiling broadly and standing to leave the office.
"A pleasure doing business with you, sir."
"Of course- the Combine prides itself on handling tough assignments like this one, when the price is right! I don't suppose you'd tell me how you got your hands on twenty billion credits?"
"Of course not, sir, of course not. Good day."
"A pleasure doing business with you, sir."
"Of course- the Combine prides itself on handling tough assignments like this one, when the price is right! I don't suppose you'd tell me how you got your hands on twenty billion credits?"
"Of course not, sir, of course not. Good day."
Minutes after the Covenant representative left the Cadmus offices, Faran Tor came hurrying into Adar Krell's office, a full report in hand. Adar looked up from his work. "What is it, Faran?"
"New contract. You know I don't usually bring everything by you, but this is a bit different. What is your opinion of the Covenant resistance?"
"The resistance? Personally, I don't care about the situation. The ideologies and the politics in this particular case both bore me. In a military sense, I think the peacekeeping forces are poorly organized, although they are improving. And the resistance is too well organized to be organized purely by religous fanatics. Although the government that is funding this is doing a very good job covering its tracks. Which side has hired us?"
"Insightful as always, eh, Adar? You called it. Covenant has a big contract coming in for us. 20 billion credits for the following supplies." He handed the report in his hand over to Adar, who read it quickly. When he was sure Adar had finished, Faran continued.
"As you can see, its hardly our normal trade, but we should have enough in stock to cover the request."
"Of course. Do it, as soon as possible. What is the payment method?"
"Straight funds transfer, going through intermediaries, of course. Half now, half later."
"Excellent. Thank you, Faran. This is good news." Faran Tor took his leave. Krell still sat, eyeing the report, running through calculations quickly. Then he keyed his comm, and moments later was talking to Leego Diama. 5 billion would go towards replenishing stocks through the private industries on Cadmus, but the other 15 billion...
"Leego, I have some good news. We just obtained 15 billion credits to work with. I am sending them all to the Hephaestus yards. I want those ships repaired as soon as possible."
"I do, too, I can assure you. This will take weeks off the repair time of the most heavily damaged ships. Thank you!"
"No problem, Leego. We will need those ships in the future, once more reports of the Overseer come in. Now, I want you to do one more thing for me. Contact Intelligence. I want them to examine any information they can find on this account that I am sending you. I want a money trail traced in and out of this thing. Who has been paying them? Go back through as many intermediaries as necessary until you can find the government responsible for paying us."
"I'm pretty new at this, Adar."
"Don't worry. Intel will know what to do. Also, have them analyze the economies of all known powers. Calculate what effect a hit of 20 billion credits would have on the economy of any of these governments, and cross-check it with economic reporst coming from all known powers over the last month. Factor in decreases in domestic and military spending as well as dips in the domestic and corporate economy. You have all that?"
"I think so, yes."
"Good. Thank you, Leego. Get on it."
Krell turned off his comm and gave a little laugh. Financial exchanges were dangerous. They left a trail. He now had a decent chance of finding which government was funding the Covenant resistance. The Alliance would pay DEARLY for that intel, and whatever government was reponsible would pay more to keep it quiet. It was a long shot, but more than worth following up.

-=ARCANE EMPIRE CONFRONTED ON MECHANOID TREACHERY, FLEE KNOWN SPACE=-
Following the release of information revealing the existence of a Mechanoid base in the Arcane Home System of Aber-Toril, numerous nations demanded an explanation from the Arcane Empire concerning the apparent harboring of the Mechanoid threat. Amidst Arcane protests of innocence, nations joined together under the banner of Monacora demanded free and unfettered first-hand access to Arcane documents, under threat of force. The Arcanists refused compliance, further denying claims of aiding the Mechanoids, despite the presence of a fortified Mechanoid facility in plain sight by the gathered fleets. Reports that have been publicly released at this point indicated that the Arcanists tried at the last moment to placate the gathered nations by sending trivial amounts of data on the Mechanoids after the Krell fleet had moved into an attack position. For several hours, the Aber-Toril system became a war zone. Data is still being sorted from the affair, but apparently the Arcane Government decided to flee from Known Space, using their “Magic”. For hours after the fleet battle, Arcane Forces evacuated their entire worlds into portals leading to unknown locations, taking with them as much of their belongings as they could manage. Inspectors on the Arcane planets have found very few personal effects, and it is thought that given the amount of time the Arcanists had to evacuate, it seems unlikely that any of them are genuine, but rather forgeries left behind to conceal the truth. Unfortunately, the galaxy may never truly learn what the relationship between the Arcanists and the Mechanoids was specifically, but numerous analysts looking at the current set of evidence say that signs point heavily towards an Arcanist alliance with the Mechanoids.
-=ATLANTEANS JOIN UNITED PROTECTORATE ALLIANCE=-
Following the tumultuous events occurring as a result of the Arcane Empire’s apparent treason against sentience and their subsequent flight from Known Space, all those involved with the Arcane Empire have been left in a poor position. Covenant of God worlds previously occupied by the Aracanists revolted shortly after the Arcane withdrawal from known space, leaving their former allies of the United Protectorate in rapidly deteriorating situations. Mindful of growing threats in the galaxy, such as the current Mechanoid crisis, the governments of the UPA have decided to offer membership to the Atlantean Government, taking the place of the now-defunct Arcane Empire. Rumors abound whether this is somehow related to a United Protectorate fleet supporting Atlantean claims to Arcanist Territories during the exodus of the Arcane Empire to parts unknown, but no official comment from the UP has been made one way or another. The fact that Karsus, the only free Arcanist left in Known Space, is granted asylum in Atlantean space has risen more than a few eyebrows, and speculations run rampant on the public datanets. A recent newcomer to Known Space, the Draconis Republic, was also present at the signing of the Atlanteans into the UPA, and the relationships developing between the governments seems to positive, and future weeks may see a sixth government joining the UPA.
-=UNITED PROTECTORATE CALLS ON ATLANTIS FLEET TO ASSIST IN COVENANT OF GOD WORLDS=-
As Nashtar Republic and United Protectorate forces stationed on former Covenant of God worlds struggle to maintain control of the rapidly escalating resistance movements, the United Protectorate decided to call upon the newly allied Atlanteans to assist in the pacification efforts in the former CoG worlds. The United Protectorate Head of Congress, Speaker to the Protector Alex Marly was willing to be interviewed by GCN (-Would you like to know more about the UP’s System of Government?-)
According the official leak at the United Protectorate State Office, the Atlanteans were requested for their highly advanced non-lethal weapon systems, to help end the hostilities on the Covenant of God worlds with the least loss of life possible. Once the revolts have been subdued, the United Protectorate intend to institute a government based on free elections and a constitution of basic rights. As Speaker to the Protector Marly puts it, “We intend to allow them to chose their own government. If they chose to dislike us, that is their right. However we will ensure that they have the freedom to dislike us. A basic constitution with freedom of speech and such will put forth and the government that is freely elected can do with it they feel they have to maintain a free government for their worlds. Due to the ill feelings they have we think it best that we part ways before things get worst for their average citizen.”
The Speaker goes on to encourage input and assistance from other nations outside of the UPA concerning the matter of the Covenant of God. “We will not allow them to become a threat to the rest of the galaxy. The new government will have to sign a treaty stating a maintaining of agreed-upon rights and elections at regular cycles. We are open to suggestions; we don't people thinking we attempting to seize control. If the other powers like Monocora or Asgard want in that's fine. The object is the best government possible for the [Covenant of God] citizens.”
Atlantean forces are estimated to deploy in CoG space inside of a day. More on this story as it develops.

<< Your sources are incorrect. Preliminary assemblage of civilian wombs is being initiated in some parts of the Jormungandr system, but this is but a part of the regular construction of Clusters. We assume you are worried about the 15-kilometer womb being laid in system, which you may have mistaken for a Fleet Tender shipyard. We use standardized patterns for Womb construction, and this facility is being manufactured solely for the purpose of assembling a full civilian Cluster over Jormungandr, as part of a proggram instituted to use standardized Hajr construction practices for some civilian applications. It has come to our attention that your nation has, in violation of the treaty, begun building shipyards with the Jormungandr System. We consider this a serious breach of the treaty we reached. It is our desire to resolve this in a civil and diplomatic manner. If this manner can not be worked out, we will be forced to make this issue a matter of international interest.
To assuage your fears, on the other hand, we will move the offending wombs elsewhere, perhaps to one of the four systems in the Jormungandr sphere which were uninhabited prior to the Treaty of Catalonia, and are now sole Hajr property.>>
-/ooc My apologies, forgot that part of the treaty -_-. Moving the womb, which was at the bare bones stage anyways, to one of the uninhabited systems will add another two weeks to the construction cycle, and will delay the 5th War Cluster's construction. Note that the Treaty only applied to Jormungandr and her two inhabited colonies, so the other 4 systems in the Sphere which we conquered and were uninhabited are not covered by the treaty.

Rumor has finally been confirmed. According to several sources within the Ministry of War the Hajir have indeed broken the months old Treaty of Catalonia by place building yards within the Jormungandr. The facility, acording to sources, is a large naval yard capable of building up to capital scale warpships. It is unknown how far along construction has progressed on this facility.
The Ministry so far as refused to issue any official statement on the matter. Only Undersecretary for Foriegn Affairs Atwood has had any comment. His words were as follows:
"While their is no cause for immediate alarm, several issues have raised tensions with our neighbors. I am not at liberty to disclose them at this point but I must reiterate that this is still a purely diplomatic matter. For now it is in the best interests not to make a public issue out of this, so I will leave it at that."
Right now it seems, this remains a purely diplomatic matter. However given public sentiment is markedly against the Hajir Occupation, even with the treaty it is unknown how long it will stay that way.

From: Monacoran State Department
WE are interested in one planet of the former covenant of god in particular, we thank you for your offer, and we will claim said planet (never got a name for it) if you give control over it to us now, and remove yourself from the system immeadietly.

Understandably we are naturally concerned about the prospect of any military build up on our doorstep. Especially from an aggressive and expansionist power. We will ask that you in the future take a great deal more care as the line between such installations and the prohibited ones are fine.<< Your sources are incorrect.
To assuage your fears, on the other hand, we will move the offending wombs elsewhere, perhaps to one of the four systems in the Jormungandr sphere which were uninhabited prior to the Treaty of Catalonia, and are now sole Hajr property.>>
Natuarally we would like all of this to occur as far away as possible from us. But we will stick to the terms of the treaty.
Okay.-/ooc My apologies, forgot that part of the treaty -_-.

"Yatch Walk On, please transmit you IFF data and intended destination."frigidmagi wrote:Outside Trondheim system
A small sleek ship dropped into realspace from hyper. It began transmitting.
"Asgard this is UP diplomatic yacht WalkOn, request permission to enter system."
As Control Recieved the data stream from the diplomatic vessel, authorities were roused and consulted. A decision was swiftly reached.
"Walk On, a flight plan is being transmitted."
OOC: It's the Valhalla System. Tronhiem is the capital planet.

(OOC gotcha)
"Thank you control. Flight Plan recieved."
Sir Alexander Andersen twitched his tunic straight. There was little intell on Asgard other than some old historical files and broadcast so he'd have to be real careful, wouldn't want to offend anybody. He didn't even bring any Marines.
He felt the ship touched down and perpared himself.

As the UP delegate descended from their shuttle a waiting Marine Honour Guard came to attention. They held their salutes as the Asgard Representative, Sir Wilhelm Sebastian stepped forward to greet them. The old diplomat made the proper sort of greetings.
"I dare say we ought to be inside. Given the recent unrest this gentlemen are for more than show."
The diplomats were hussled off to a meeting at State House and the yatch moved to a secure military hangar. Once they were enscounced in the building the meetings began in earnest.
"Feel free to speak candidly, this facility is absolutely secure." He said. "No doubt you've come because of certain mutal concerns and interests of ours?"
