Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Help

Post by Illuminatus Primus »

Does anyone know where the M9 tranq is on Extreme and Hard? I looked everywhere for it at the dock, and then I can't find it afterward either.

I think they took it out because the game is much harder without it. I've also been playing on Extreme and I haven't found it either (and I've been VERY complete in my sneaking).

Well, I haven't found it myself, but I do have an Extreme difficulty Big Boss speed run on my harddisk. The M9 is required for Big Boss rating, so I'll just take a look. I'll edit in the location in a few minutes.

EDIT:
Ok, I think I know where it is, and you can't miss it.

It's in the Holding Cells where you find the DARPA Chief. It's in the air duct just after you pass Meryl's cell, but before you get to the DARPA Chief. Basically it's in the required path and just before the first shootout of the game. Very handy, actually. Until then you'll just have to rely on mad sneaking skills.

If you're going for "Big Boss" then you'll need to play on Extreme and with "Game Over on discovery" on. If that last one isn't on, then you can only get to "Fox". Not that "Fox" isn't impressive... It's just not "Big Boss".

Oh, I know you are allowed to use only one ration, and you have to beat it fast, real fast. I think the time is 2:30 or 3:00 max. The speed run I have by GameFAQs "Karma Hunter" is an impressive 1:10 time. Also, no kills whatsoever. Stun the bosses, and shoot the barrels during the escape. That should net you 0 kills. The hand to hand bosses don't count as kills. I think there is a restriction on mechanical destruction, too. So, don't shoot the cameras.

No, I'm not shitting you, but that record is old by now. He beat that time and has uploaded the new run, too.

1:08:29 is the time now. On Extreme. No kills. No discoveries. No Stealth Suit. And, of course, skips all the skippable cut scenes.

Try watching it, that guy deserves the Big Boss rating.

About that M9 on Hard. Try looking behind the bombable wall in the northeast part of the Armory. It should be there.
