Canadian 'Affirmation Action' and Frenchies

Post by Super-Gagme »

Now I'm pretty sure Canada has the AA or similar and that French Canadians also come under the minority policy. I started a debate about it and now they are demanding I prove that French have benefits for CHOOSING to be a minority. I know a lot of you around here have strong things to say against French Canadians, Wong comes to mind, so was hoping I could get some sources? I'm having no luck with google.

Also specifically, is there a 'Quota' on minorities a Canadian business must have?

Okay, reading through the laws I can find. The Canadian Equality Act specifically says they cannot enforce a quota on employers. So then, what benefit DO French Canadians have?

Billions of dollars in transfer payments which are totally disproportionate to Quebec's size and state of economic need. A "distinct society" clause in the Constitution which gives the Quebec government free reign to ignore human-rights laws when it comes to the defense of the French language. And just try working for the federal government sometime; you will never get a project approved unless all or most of the money will be spent in Quebec.

Know where I can find proof of this? I know you're a credible person, but sadly she does not, so probably would dismiss a link here....

The transfer payments are a matter of public record, as is Quebec's ability to run roughshod over human-rights laws. Amnesty International has had Quebec in its sights for years. The policy of refusing to approve research projects unless the money is spent in Quebec is obviously unofficial.

Just go to the Federal government's own stats sites, such as this one. In the year 2000, Quebec received $5.38 billion in so-called "equalization" transfer payments alone, ie- provincial welfare money for poor provinces. This exceeded the equalization transfer payments to Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia combined, and it all came out of the pockets of Ontario and Alberta. And let's not even look at the massive amount of money poured into Quebec by Chretien's various corruption programs such as the sponsorship program, the HDRC program, etc.

If you're an anglo in Quebec, you are screwed. I heard from a talk radio program that in Quebec, if you go to court everything is done in French and they refuse to have any translation done. For example and I'm going by memory, an anglo that used to be mayor of west Hull had to go to court because he did something to tick the government off. When he went to court, the proceedings was done in french. When he asked if he could have the trial translated into English, the judge refused. Basically he lost the trial and he didn't even know what they were saying.

Quebec government demanded that they'd be considered a "distinct society" even though British Columbia should then be considered the same since they are as distinct as Quebec.

You want a job working for the government and you don't know french? Hah! You'll never get in. Already working for the government and want to be promoted but don't know french? I've got a better chance of being a multi billionnaire than you getting promoted.

In Quebec, all signs must at least dominated by french with little or no English and if there is any english words used, it'll have to be half as big as the french words.

An Ontarian working in Quebec? You're screwed. But vice versa doesn't work.

Have you checked the envelope when you file your income tax? Where is it going? Yup Quebec.

Chretien built an armoury in his home town even though why should a smal town of Shawinigan needs an armoury.

The Adscam fiasco? Most of the $250million dollars spent went into Quebec.

A Quebec firm, Bombardier gets billions of dollars from the federal government and if they don't get the money then they'll threaten to close down the company and move out of the country.

Even though the dam built on Churchill Falls was built in Newfoundland, Quebec keeps all of the money and Newfoundland gets nothing.
