He didn't "trick" it out, he just turned a knob.

Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon (Softcover trilogy edition
pg.233: Then he unlatched a metal cover over a graduated knob. Normally it was at a tiny minus value, placing the main strength of the shields just under the first few molecules of the ships skin. There were sound reasons for this, but Lando didn't care about them right now. He turned the knob, slowly, very carefully. The ships structure groaned as the shields expanded, first a millimeter, then a centimeter from the surface of the hull. Stresses were transmitted through the hull members to the heavily butressed casing of the field generator. Lando turned the knob a little more.

The Falcon had been tightly wedged within the rock, the wheel of her upper airlock hatch scraping one side of the crevice, the bottom of her hull abraded by the other. There hadn't been a millimeter to spare. Now Lando was demanding more room, expanding the shields against the asteroids surface.
The Falcon's shields can be projected outward from itself. I can't recall which book, but it was mentioned in the Daley Han Solo books, when Chewiee was going to do an EVA to patch a hole on the hull from a bomb. Also, in the Corellian trilogy, Solo expands the shields out enough for a test where the whole ship is resting on them.

And in Darksaber, a Star Destroyer can project its shields over another ISD.

In The first Rogue Squadron novel, Corran Horn's full powered shields extend a full twenty meters from the X-wing itself. In Courtship of Princess Leia, the Falcon's shields are extended to more than 50 meters in front of the ship.

I called it stupid to call SW "just a movie". One of the mods took a disliking to me immediately. After a short exchange where I pointed out that he was wrong about the popularity of TPM, he edited one of my posts with "I would take a hike" which I replied with "please do", before addressing the point:

"It basically comes down to this - either you think that we who analyzes the SW movies in more depth deserves to be belittled, or you don't."

My posts were deleted too, so I apparently touched a sensitive spot somehow. I didn't call anyone anything though.

This wouldn't happen to be "Dark Moose," would it? He was the one who banned me due to similar "offenses."

This is shameless - they're altering your posts to frame you so they can ban you?

They're not even bothering to frame people. They just lock their accounts and delete the evidence exonerating them.

I haven't been banned (yet), but the behaviour of some of the mods over at the official forums is questionable. They're very rude in their comments and, as we have seen several times now, they ban people who have a different opinion than themselves. I hope that the people responsible for the official forum takes a good look at their moderators and their terms of use.

What I don't understand is, why haven't they closed the thread yet, when it has already resulted in the banning of a handful of 'techies'?

I think it's time for a letter-writing campaign. As Pablo himself pointed out, nobody cares about people posting on a webboard. They care more about people who lick stamps and mail envelopes, because that suggests a greater level of commitment to the idea than a post on a webboard which costs nothing.

He's a real dickless wonder. Take a look at that thread now...do you see what he says about recently banned "Darth Lodz"?

(That's me, btw.)

...I'll give you a hint: evidently you and I are the same dude, Mike

Dickless Mumbler posted this a few hours ago:
Yes, as for the aforementioned sock issue, count Lodz in there.

It seems Ossus just can't leave it alone, poor man.

Dickless also tells Grand Moff Magnus of Sweden:
You are aware, of course, that you're defending the currently tripled iterations of the same banned poster, yes?
Fellow mod Lad spins...err, I mean, "adds":
Everyone banned in this thread has been a sock of a banned user.
They're some goofy, dishonest motherfuckers over there, sure enough.

I have posted in that thread to comment on the issue of Lodz being banned. And just in case my posts become "non-permanent":

Now, now Mike. I opened the subject, but you must go to the forum feedback section to argue it...

Damn, I never would have thought that the moderators on the official site's MB would resort to OUTRIGHT lying and manipulation to make themselves look good and preserve their reputations.

Seriously, this whole Pablo and SW.Com Mod debacle could potentially blow up in their faces, with the results of making Lucasfilm itself look really bad in the public view. I wonder if LF proper even knows what the hell is going on, because if they're out of the loop, they should be informed that they are employing personel that are not only alienating, but are OPENLY hostile to a significant portion of the SW fanbase.

That's a ridiculous contention. After I went there to complain about his behavior, he immediately ignored my evidence and INSISTED on using a strawman distortion of my claims against him (which was, of course, much more easily attacked), and then banned me.

I appreciate that, boss :)

If they ever actually admit Ossus and Lodz aren't one in the same (a shame, since I did take it as somewhat of a compliment  ), I'm sure they'll pull a George Bushism: "No, no! We weren't going after WOMDs in Iraq! We just wanted to liberate the Iraqi people!"

I'm quite sure he'll do the same to me. I predict his response will look a lot like this:

"Even if you're not Master of Ossus, Lodz, you sure agreed with him! Besides, you were being abusive, and that's why you're banned. Goodbye."

...sans the cordial "goodbye," naturally

I agree that the guy is a double douche bag and SW.com is crap, but I don't see LucasFilm caring. After all, this isn't significant enough to be noticed by the media enough to hurt them, it won't effect their box office gross (after all, it's not like anyone is going to boycott SW3 over this), and a majority of the fans of StarWars in generel don't honestly care about the issue. Why would they even notice?
