Gah, could BNSF have picked an uglier paint scheme for their locomotives? We go from warbonnets to that crap.

And now for some pictures from my own private fleet:
To answer your questions: All of the stuff on there is FREE.
The UP DDA40X is included with TRS2004, as is the interacctive 3D
CAB interior. The layout and the empty UP hoppers that are being
pulled by it are free downloads.
This is uhm, the 4th version of trainz since I think 1999. They've
recently released Service Pack 2 for TRS2004, which adds animated
passengers who actually get inside your trains and sit down at the
little seats, including some busty babes
Trainz is not an american-centric thing mind you. The company, Auran,
is based in Australia, and I've ordered both Ultimate Trainz and TRS2004
from them, and both have arrived via air mail plastered in Australian
customs forms

Unless it will let me haul huge train cars laden with nuclear waste and ICBM's at exceedingly excessive speeds I'm not very interested.

Aha, the infamous Sydney 'City Rail' Millinium train. As full as it usually is in real life I see . Since their introduction late 2000, I have not yet once stepped foot on one, and I'v been catching trains to university 4 or 5 days a week since all of that time.
as they say in sydney. "Yes, the millinium train... but which millinium?"

They seem to all be on the lines on which I'm not. I've been on them twice. They have very nice, well thought out interiors- the old Tangara pieces of shit are downright embarassing compared to them (you know, with their fucking unmovable seats so there's always a bunch of second class citizens who have to sit backwards).Aha, the infamous Sydney 'City Rail' Millinium train. What's wrong with the millenium trains anyway? All I know is there's a fiasco.

Over budget, and consume more electricity, which sometimes overloads the system, causing brown-outs for the network, and electrical shortages. They also had a habit of breaking down often for a fair whyle, which about 5 times in a single month, caused the city circle to come to a complete standstill whyle they got them moved out of the mainline.Vympel wrote: What's wrong with the millenium trains anyway? $29.99 for it at CompUSA. Although I've seen it at Gamestop for $19.95.
All the free stuff is stuff you can download from the game's

Seriously, this is far far better than MS Train Sim, even though more addons are available for MSTS, because you don't have to be a fucking
rocket scientist to make your own layouts.
I'll post a make yer own layout thing soon

Hmm Opening Screen
Lets make our own route!
Why lets base it in the US of Fucking A of course!
There can only be one name! Esss Dee Net!
Hmm a blank slate....what to put in?
I know! A train station!
Of course, Chardok land is an appropriate choice!
Now Chardok Land is populated!
And the grass goes in!
In the interests of trans national unity, I've picked a BR HST 125 Trainset
to service EssDeeNet
All these people need places to sit.....So I've put in a buttload of houses
from New Zealand and an apartment complex from Denmark.....
ahhh international co-operation!
We must not forget the BOTM too!
What would a train layout be without the little flashing lights and crossbars?
We must not forget our less fortunate brethren on SB.....
And some more australian "Flavour"
Of course, we must accomodate the Fanfic Archive somehow....
And of course, we must name the Apartment complex after our benevolent
dictator, lord wong!
Hmm, looks okay to me......Oh yes, I put in a power plant right next to
the Fanfic Archive to burn all the garbage from Raoul Duke Jr
We're a Sci-Fi Board, so shouldn't we have a funky sky colour?
Placing tracking cameras now.....I call this......the SNIPER-cam TM
Yes, come on you motherfuckers I'll blow your heads off!, mwhahahah

Trainz is a kickass game if you're into...well, trains. I haven't had a chance to try '04 yet, but it looks orgasmic. It's not as nice as having your own layout, but if you don't have an entire basement and thousands of dollars to spare, it's an acceptable substitute.

A few offerings from myself. I don't have train sim installed anymore myself, but this is some stuff I digged out from when I did.
Sydney City Tram from the 1950's/60's on the La Parouse/Circular Quay route.
The famous loco "3801" from the NSW SRA. Streamlined 4-6-2
3801 and non-streamlined sister 3830 double heading a passenger train in country NSW.

Ah, you mean the Yellow Borg! I will never forgive them for assimilating Chicago & North Western and Southern Pacific (especially since they are replacing the beautiful livery C&NW aplied to their Dash 9s and AC4400s with their own, unimaginative scheme). Okay, I will admit I do like their "Building America" scheme, but beyond that...Howedar wrote:Bah, if it ain't Union Pacific then it ain't worth shit.
"I am Union Pacificus of Borg. Your railroad will be assimilated. Your coroporate existance as it has been, is over. From this time forward, you will service US."
Actually, I'm quite fond of the Heritage II scheme, although I hate Heritage I. I'm not a big fan of ATSF's red/silver "Super Fleet" Warbonnet livery, however. The silver paint starts to look like crap too quickly.RedImperator wrote:Gah, could BNSF have picked an uglier paint scheme for their locomotives? We go from warbonnets to that crap.
I'll post a few shots from MSTS later, including a few of my own creations (skins, that is. I havn't gotten into building models...yet.)
Well, there isn't much room to mount weapons on a locomotive, but it could haul alot of firepower behind it. I reckon that on level track, a modern diesel freight locomotive (especially an AC traction loco like a GE AC4400 or an EMD SD70MAC) should easily be able to haul 15-20 heavy duty flatcars, each loaded with 2 Abrams tanks. And you say this is a free game to D/L...? Looks neat. But, for history lesson: Armored "assault" trains have been tried and they have failed. They are too predictable in their movement, and they are far too easy to sabotage. The Germans had some sucess in WWII using railroad artillery guns (like the huge "Dora"), and railroads are still useful for military logistics. BTW, Anyone remember the Peackeeper Rail Garrison system?

Here's mine for starters; I'll post more later
A 7,800 ton BNSF manifest train headed by three Dash 9-44CWs descends the west slope of Marias Pass, Montana on a crisp, clear winter morning. These locomotives represent all three liveries worn by BNSF's Dash 9s. A note about the lead unit (#4723): It is the "special" locomotive that MS had decorated with a Microsoft Train Simulator decal on the nose to publicize MSTS and to pay homage to BNSF's contribution to the production of MSTS. (Yes, this actually happened in real life. Here is a good shot of the real 4723).
And now, some Canadian content:
Cabshot from Canadian National SD75I #5664 as it leads a stack train over a bridge west of North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
The same train, shortly after. You can also see the second engine, a Dash 9-44CWL. It is essentially the same as the locomotives in the BNSF shot, but it has CN's custom 4-window cab rather than the stock GE cab, and it has a lightened frame to allow it to carry more fuel and sand than the stock Dash 9 (After picking up 25 of these custom units, CN's further orders of Dash 9s were more or less the stock model save for the windshield, which featured a modified profile for better visibality). Note the train is still crossing the same bridge in the background as was seen from the cab in shot #2.
I should note that none of the stuff you see in those is default: Although I didn't create any of the stuff in those screenshots, I will post some of my creations tomorrow when I get around to making some more screenshots.
