Ambassador Alytes turned to the Asgard ambassador

"well that went well.." He said with a nervous smile before leaning a little closer and asked in a whisper

"Just out of curiousity... are al humans as wildly emotional as those ones? So we know how to deal with your species in the future"

The Asgard Ambassador looked at the Draconian in pure shock.

"To be quite frank, I think think you fail to understand just how grossly offensive and appalling your production is. And to then compare it to the unfortunate rape of earth, well that's enough to anger anyone. I can't say as I blame the poor fellow. I must say I found your play rather appalling myself."

The Ambassador simply shook his head.

"If you wish to open relations, I dare say a little bit of sensitivity and tact would not be amiss."

"Hmm... Must be a cultural difference. When my people are faced with a tragedy, we attempt to make the best of it and use humor to do so. We use humor and satire to illustrate the dangers of such evil bengs as the nazis and the mechanoids. Especially to illustrate that, no matter how bad those people are, a free people fighting for good will usually win in the end. Here it serves to lift the spirits and moral. As well as teach a practical lesson. We didnt think the Monocorans would react in such a way...

He hissed in what could be considered a sigh and then continued

"Knowing that, I do offer my apologies. We didnt mean to offend.. I suppose we merely guage emotions differently, after all, we can read each others emotions on our skin..."

Heh, well, your facial expressions are even different... You bare your teeth to express gladness... I get the feeling however that this play would have been better accepted three months ago. I apologize again for any offense

The Hajr's ambassador was a young woman of uncommonly slight build for an Ouster, and her skinsuit lacked the brightly colored slashes which had been observed on the clothing of high-ranking diplomats. She only had one bodyguard with her, and he wore only a skinsuit and jacket, lacking the ornate power-armor worn by those assigned to higher ranking personelle.

Her job was simple- she was to observe, listen, and report back. She was little more than a legal, politically acceptable spy on the proceedings. There was little doubt in her mind that the Alliance delegates would rather see a Mechanoid warspider here than an Elysian.

Well, time to get to work.

Quisa su Ithaca began making her rounds, searching for delegates of interest.

"By all means. Well, we would like to open up trade relations. We generally operate on a policy of reciprocated free trade. Um... we are hwever, hands off when it comes to business. So it is only really the governments responsibility to open up trade. What gets traded is up to the market. However, common items would probably be GMOs weapons, armor, military goods of that nature, consumer products, and services such as gene modification and crystaline construction."

As the play concluded, the Union ambassador stated...

"I'd certainly say this is... unusual. I personally find the play somewhat offensive - most species generally find comic representations of dark moments of history usually offensive. However, cultural differences are to be expected. There seems to be relatively little inaccurate about the play; it seems, however, to be somewhat of an oversimplification. As part of our diplomatic negotiations, we will gladly offer you historical materials to clear anything up."

Thirdfain wrote:"Excellent. Ambassador, my superiors are worried. They are worried about the dynamic they see forming. They are worried, Ambassador, about the Alliance. The Hajr doesn't trust them, not a bit- and neither do I. We've kept our misgivings to ourselves, but the Alliance's continued support of the Arcanists, and it's growing influx of members, makes it a major threat. We believe that it may even have ties to the Machines. Admittedly, these worries are unsupported, but there is some circumstantial evidence in that regard. Whether that's true or not, we think the Alliance is too big. It's a power broker, and it clearly opposes what the Diaspora means for the Unbound. On the same note, it presents a major threat to your own nation- it has the numbers to become a hegemon. We think that it needs a balancing point, a force capable of stopping the Alliance from becoming the ruling power in Known Space. We need force which can be used, quietly, to present international concensus against the spread of Alliance power.

Now, I'm not suggesting a formal alliance between our powers. I'm merely pointing out that we share many of your worries, and are willing to act on them- let none doubt the willingness of the Hajr to action!

You can count on us, Ambassador, should your problems with Karsus bloom beyond mere words."
"We thank you for your support with the fugitive Karsus, and we also share your mutual concerns. We agree that though a formal alliance is out of hand, we do need a group, one which could pressure the alliance towards better choices. We fear, however, that our choices for such a group would not always be mutually beneficial. Case in point, the Asgard Empire who we wish to ally ourselves with closley, yet you.. well there's really no need for explanation between us over that.

"However, we fear personally that this, the alliance, and other groups may take away from the move to bring the Siliconoids to justice, and we believe that this task should be our first one, above all others. What would you say to that?"

"I think you'll find our diplomatic... indiscretions with the Asgard Empire will be less of an issue than you imagine, Halifax. As for the importance of bringing the Siliconoids to justice, you have my word- as soon as contruction completes on our 4th War Cluster, we will detatch the 1st War Cluster as a siliconoid-hunting force.

I am pleased that we share the same concerns, Ambassador. As long as you can tell your government where we stand, then my work here has been done."

Palace of the Blood King, Capital City
(what is the capital called, anyways?)
OOC: It's Temesvar again--the planet was formerly uninhabited and the first settlement established after the landing was called Temesvar. Hence, both the city and the planet took the name.

----

Undercity
Temesvar

The capitol of the Blood King's territory was on the surface a beautiful city of gardens and grand architechture in all the ancient styles. But underneath was the place that allowed the city to run as it did. It was a vast warren of catacombs, tunnels, barracks, and government service buildings, populated by the armies of orcs and peons that formed the blue collar ranks of the civil service. It was all underground with occasional outlets to the surface, to keep the 'unsightly' machinery of city function as unobtrusive as possible.

Except for the areas under the royal estates, which were self-contained, the entire city was built on this foundation; a foundation invisible and almost entirely unknown to outsiders, and even to most of the decadent and lazy nobles above.

The Ouster embassy lay on top of the undercity, like most of the city proper. But rather than a recycling center, fire station, or sewage facility, it recieved the services of a intelligence relay station.

The room in which the Ouster-Monacoran conference was taking place featured a large mirror along one of the walls. As it was common practice to bug embassies (their own building on Ekaterina was doubtless under monitored), the room was swept every week or so. The fiberoptic cables and electrical wiring which ran directly behind the mirror was certified as "clean" on a regular basis.

But the mirror was in fact nothing more than a massive and well-disguised sounding board, and the fiberoptic cable could intermittently be commandeered to shine a small laser against the rear surface of it. It read vibrations upon the glass and rendered them into a somewhat distorted but understandable sound recording. The fact that the information transmitted via hardline and that all the complex electronic components were located a hundred meters below the estate made the bug nigh indetectable.

An intelligence agent listened in on the negotiation and forwarded the recordings to the main intelligence office.

Temesvar

Aleksandra stood, and shook hands with the Monacoran diplomat.

"It's been a pleasure, Boundman Halifax. I look forwards to working with you in the future. If you'll excuse me, one of my guards will take you to the door. I am schedualed to return to Eketrina in only an hour, and I can't spare any more time. Peace of the Void be with you."

Halifax smiled, and grimaced faintly at her unexpectedly strong handshake.

"And to you too, Boundwoman Aleksandra. Safe journey."

An hour later, a VTOL carrying Aleksandra and two bodyguards arrived at the spaceport. She exited the vehicle, bade farewell to her Ouster chaffeur, and strode towards the waiting diplomatic berths, where a shuttle would take her to an orbiting Ouster Strike Cruiser.

-ooc- just in case you had any more business with my Ambassador on Temesvar following your little evesdropping, Pablo :P
