Bush to visit Normandy for D-Day anniversary

Post by Tsyroc »

This ought to be good, Bush in France.

Bush In Normandy
Bush will use his visit to Normandy and other European stops to try to mend fences and press his request for more international assistance on Iraq.
I hope he's planning on taking his knee pads.
Bush leaves on Thursday for Italy, where he will participate in June 4 ceremonies marking the liberation of Rome by American and allied forces. He is to meet at the Vatican with Pope Paul John Paul II.

After talks in Paris on Saturday with Chirac, Bush joins other world leaders on Sunday in the Normandy town of Caen.

He will also make separate remarks at the American Cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach.

Bush will meet with some of the same leaders a few days later as he hosts the annual Group of Eight economic summit on Sea Island, Georgia.

Bush returns to Europe later in June for a European Union meeting in Ireland and a NATO summit in Turkey.

Something not Bush related:
Every 10 years, leaders of the countries that took part in D-Day gather on a Normandy beach for a memorial.
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.

Interesting sidenote: This year the German Chancellor was invited to join this.

That's actually pretty cool that he was invited.
