Do New Republic ISDs carry TIEs?
Considering that ISDs carry their 6 squadrons of TIE Fighters in tightly packed racks (SW:ICS), do New Republic ISDs carry TIEs, or has any thought been given in the EU as to how such NR ISDs would carry the typical New Republic fighters.

Nope, they have their NR starfighters and I doubt that thought was given as to how.

Look if Zahn mentioned it (he mentioned the Errant Venture) it would have been done with some taste, but with other authors...

According to Starfighters of Amudar IIRC the NR ISDs carry some Ties.

IIRC all the NR ISDs I have read about appear to carry 6 squadrons of 12 fighters, disregarding type mix.
I don't remember any rationales being given for where the extra needed space is comming from, so unless they as Bean says dumped AT-ATs/whatnot form the hangar ajacent areas, their readyness rate would have to suffer quite a bit from lack of space to perform maintainance & repairs on the tightly packed ships. (the TIEs are literally packed IN the rafters to provide deckspace for these and other tasks after all )

Space would not be a problem. In addition to that from the AT-AT storage bay, there's also the empty corridors behind the TIE bays which where used to move the TIEs back to the racks from the recovery bay.

Looking at the OT ICS Ties are also stored and serviced away from the main hangars, so there is additional space. They also carry far fewer troops so, gutting all that extra-berthing so free up some room.

Spartan don't forget the At-At Holding area off the Hanger, probably could fit quite a few fighters in there, I don't see NR pacfics carring around as many At-Ats

Just though I add this in
Strange hw EU authors blow Imperials TIEs out of the sky, and the Rebels criticise them. Then when the 'New Republic' gets some they are the all glorious and powerful Sienar Fleet Systems TIE Line

Well in Solo Command the NR TIEs have shields, albeit weak ones, so survival is slightly greater.

any real difference between NR and imperial Tie's are the interceptor and other basic models still being used by the NR but retrofitted with shields.

Bah TIEs don't need shields. They have maneuverability and speed on their side. In the OT TIE Fighters hold their own quite well- EU New Republic propaganda aside (unless the TIEs are being flown by elites- in which case they're treated at least fairly).
Of course, you have other silly EU rubbish like the Republic-class SD, which is smaller yet has double the firepower of an ISD .... wank on.

I could be wrong. That's what I heard though.
I'd like to see a proper pic of it but I don't think anyone would really bother... post-OT Star Wars novels will wrap themselves up shortly I hope.

So do I. "Republic-class Star Destroyerphongn wrote:No proper pictures of the RSD, exist, IMNSHO. There's the one from Cracken's Threat Dossier, but it clashes so greatly with the description from the EU and the usual SD design line that I'm inclined to ignore it.
this battle ship was a smaller version of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer, and was designed for use by the New Republic. It first saw duty during the latter stages of the Black Fleet Crisis and the battle against the Yevetha, although production was limited to a few ships. The Republic-class was designed to be the follow-up to the Victory-class destroyer, and was developed by Walex Blissex himself. They were designed to be cost-efficient replacements for the Imperial-class destroyer - two Republics could be manufactured for the cost of one Imperial, with twenty percent of the crew complement and twenty percent more firepower then the Imperial-I class destroyer. The Republic-class ship measured 1,250 meters in length, and was crewed by 8,168 crewers with 260 gunners and up to 3,200 troops. They were armed with 40 heavy turbolaser batteries, 40 heavy turbolaser cannons, 20 ion cannons, and 10 tractor beam projectors. It also transported a full wing of starfighters."
This is what I've heard. Less crew due to more automation, less troops due to space, I suppose.
